Do you like sex? Do you like your girlfriend? Or women in general?

You're blowing it out of proportion. I showed sympathy and I asked if she was alright... there wasn't even an argument. Of course if she got hit I'd be pissed, but its not like they were using paintball guns or anything. I don't know, I never got hit with a water ballon from a moving car, if it's just as dangerous then I'm wrong.

I picture it this way, say we were walking on a street and some kids, like 10 year olds, came by and threw water ballons at us. I'd probably laugh and pick up the ones that didn't pop and throw it back at them. All good fun right? I just don't know if she would do the same or get all mad.

Now college kids doing it from a car is different but still nothing to get really pissed about if nobody got hit.

so the point is not how dangerous, and therefore stupid, it was, but that no one got hit?

so if the college kids had fired off a few rounds trying to hit you but they missed then it would also be good fun?

Ah, I believe I see the problem. You're 23, you are no longer an adolescent, you are an adult. You have a responsibility as such to exhibit the correct behavior as an adult for adolescents to model. This prohibits you from condoning irresponsible behavior. I drank and did drugs as a teenager, I realize that teenagers do those things, I do NOT condone them and do NOT turn a blind eye when they occur in my presence. To do so would be to not accept the responsibilities of my social role. I believe your girlfriend understands this concept and that you are reluctant to take on the responsibilities inherent to your age and station.

Grow the fvck up.

That's not condescension, it's advice. Take it or leave it.

You're comparing smashing pumpkins and water ballon throwing to underage drinking and doing drugs? Riiiiight.... I can totally see how you've accepted your "social role" in society.

I'm aware of and fulfill my social role. I make no apologies for my past. Your criticism has no basis.

You asked the question, "Am I wrong"?

The answer is yes.

My past is my past, yours is yours. I didn't think we were arguing over who had a better childhood. I'm guessing you did.
Nonetheless, I advocate that you take responsibility for your actions, this includes being able to discourage incorrect behavior even if you have participated in that behavior previously, that's what growing up is about. At this point you have indicated that you're willing to "let kids be kids". If those kids experience no negative impact from thier actions, when will they stop. My point is that YOU have to be able to, like your girlfriend, say "hey that's wrong, cut it out". You shouldn't be angry about it, but you still have to accept the social responsibility of doing so.

guns != water ballons
guns = death
water ballons != death

I suppose I see your point.

Still, she's a woman. You should know that they're always right. :D

Repeat after me: "You know, honey, you're right. Those kids were very immature and I don't condone that type of behavior. If I was with you when those asshats threw the water ballons at you I would have defended your honor. I'm glad you are okay."

agreed, but you stated the point was not the potential for danger but only that no one got hit.

i agree it is good that no one got hit. however, i disagree that that makes the attempt acceptable.

Alright, I see your point. If they were my kids of course I would tell them that it's wrong. I know such behavior is wrong and people shouldn't do it. I just don't think it's something to get overly mad about.

Hahaha... Yup, I know never to tell her she's wrong in her face! I most definitely said something to the same effect :D

You're a d!ck and you're wrong. Smashing pumpkins and throwing water balloons from cars is retarded. I feel sorry for you if you actually see no problem with these activities...

Like someone else said, your GF is clearly too good for you.

way to jump to conclusions based on 2 1/2 paragraphs moron.

You think that smashing pumpkins and throwing water balloons is acceptable behavior. That makes you an a$$hole. Case closed.

agreed.

and if someone threw water balloons from a car at my GF, i would be pi$$ed off. i wouldnt say its not big deal like you did.

Yes, you're wrong.
The majority of replies supports that, yet you still are looking for justification.
This further indicates your immaturity. Apparently it won't mean anything to you until someone IS hurt and it affects you directly.
If someone were to booby trap the pumpkin and blow you off the porch, blinding you or worse, would you sue, or just say "It's all good fun"
There is NO justification for destroying other people's property or assaulting them.

after reading the responses in this thread i have concluded the none of you eve had a childhood, did you parents keep you chained to a tree or something? we did all these things was i was that age, hell if anyone drove through parts of upstate NY about 6 years ago and got their car covered in paintballs on I390 that was me,

yes it "COULD" be harmful to someone but more times then not it isn?t, im not saying everyone should do it but its gonna happen and you cant stop it, "boys will be boys" end of story

O and yes ive been hit with a water balloon out of a car easily going 30, and it didn?t hurt that much, granted you wet but it happened in the summer and it felt good

O and to add when i was in HS we made bombs, lots of bombs and we blew s tuff up, stuff that we shoudent have like parts of our school, hell we made plastic explosives in my kitchen, that was fun, such great memories

in my childhood we used to play football, baseball, soccer, basketball, pocket billiards, shogun warriors, transformers, g.i. joe, micronauts, radio controlled cars, matchbox cars, read comics, play video games, go to movies, ride bicycles around the neighborhood, go fishing, play board games and lots of other good-natured activities.

i've never smashed pumpkins, thrown water balloons from a car or shot paintballs at a car.

Crap like this is immature and irresponsible. Destroying other people's property, getting them soaked- not everybody appreciates your 'fun'.

(And this coming from a 16 year old)

Fivespeed, i've been reading thse forums for awhile but it is your thread here that motivated me to join today.

Your girlfriend sounds like she's anal, allot of people are, now for the good part, you are not.

When i was young i participated and enjoyed lots of harmless fun, people seem to forget what Halloween is all about, not only tasty treat goodness, but also TRICKS!

I am 26 years old, it has been a long time since i've last smashed a pumpkin or thrown eggs at people or houses, but i enjoy seeing smashed pumkin strewn about the streets in October to this day, it's all part of the spirit.

As far as people kids crying over their pumpkins being smashed, parents should explain that Halloween is full of tricks, and that Chriustmas is right around the corner, but instead they would rather sheild their kids in nerf body armor and spoil them rotten.

DOn't take the advice of pathetic desperate morons about girls either. THe point of having a girlfriend is not sex, the word friend is in the word, a friend is someone who loves you for who YOU are, don't change yourself and be someone you are not for sex or any other reason, it disgusts me and should disgust yourself, at least prostitutes get paid for acting like ho's.

Which brings me to my next point, go waste your time and money at a strip club if you plan on being a little byatch for every silly girl who attempts to trade you sex for you acting like a moron, most divorces occur from people not being themselves and being foolish and getting married.

If you eventually decide to marry, remember your wife to be should be your best friend and vice versa, each of you loving each other who who you both are. Be honest not only with girls you date, but also yourself.

If all kid all over the world had to worry about was waking up to smashed pumpkins once in awhile than that would be great.

People that claim they would beat the crap out of someone for breaking a stupid gord need to have their heads checked and quit their job at the post office.

Oh and something worth mentioning is that me and my girlfreind have been together for 5 years, when i told her of my young adventures of breaking pumkins and throwing eggs she laughed. If it means anything to anyone here she is also the hottest girl in the world in my opinion, and we both love each other for who we are, there are no lies, and pretending to be who we're not nonsense, she's my bestfirend and i hers, forever.

Take it from me, i've dated plenty of annoying byatches in the past that i had to dump. Never settle and be yourself, breaking pumpkins is nothing to be ashamed of. I still look back and laugh at some of the stuff me and my friends way back when have done, lol.

It's the people who have'nt had fun who are the ones that go and have a mid life crisis when they get old because they finaly realise they missed out. I'll always be immature to some degree, i'm fun and have fun, and i don't even take drugs or drink, though drink is a drug for osme reason people like to think it is not.

It pisses me off that I have to keep my jack-o-lantern inside where no one can see it on Halloween.

And your girlfriend is a whacko for judging you for the juvenile things you did when you were *gasp* a juvenile.

When you have a house and children, or god forbid someone you care about gets whacked in the face with a 1lb water balloon from a moving car you may change your tune.

Idiot.

whoa NewsMonster, thats some heavy stuff. Thanks for chiming in. My gf and I have only been together for a year and I don't think about marriage just yet. I think she's that way because she's very very caring, about everyone, even complete strangers. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing I haven't decided yet. Congrats on finding someone that makes you happy, we should all be so lucky.
