YESSS BUBBA IS NO LONGER WORKING AS A PR PERSON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

still hope that alf and dave find a good job.

This seriously sucks. You may say, "Look at the amazing cards they can make with the combined technology". Yea right...nvidia will probably never use 3dfx technology. Damn.....Rampage was gonna be awesome too :|

I bought an Aureal sound card sold by Diamond and a 3dfx V5 5500, all three companies are pushing up dasies within a year. So much for supporting the underdogs! Woe to me.

Don't worry Deeko. I hear the Backstreet Boys are making a video card too. It's going to be called "Sucky as our Music 5500". There also planning an ultra sucky version too.

I know, I know. I'm a bad bad boy.

Anybody have any info on driver updates for the v5....???

don't tell me I just screwed myself in the arse by buying one...

What you might end up seeing is a backlash from former 3dfx customers jumping the bandwagon to Ati now. We saw the same thing when Intel started thinking they were the only alternative when it came to Cpu's and motherboards. Once AMD and VIA started coming out with strong competition people went out and bought them in droves just because they hate supporting giants.

What ATi has to do now is become aggressive and to start releasing products quickly to catch nvidia with its pants down(when two companies merge they'll have to clean up the inside before they'll release new products)

I guess HSR drivers for the V5 is dead. I don't expect any improvement later on. The potential was there, not the execution, yet another half-assed job from 3dfx.

MAybe, just maybe ATi can pick up some good driver writers and get more active in the driver department. I don't like changing drivers every other week but I like to see some new drivers every once in a while.

If you can't beat em, then buy em! (nvidia moto) (CL moto)

This has to be one the most saddest days in Computer history.

<< If you can't beat em, then buy em! >>

I don't think that NVIDIA was the one that was "beaten"...

Go to 3dfx.products.voodoo5 newsgroups. Jeff K (of somethingawful.com fame) is posting some funny stuff there. LOL

Nvidia were in the threaten position if the HSR development would of gone threw for 3dfx all the way to Rampage then you can only imagine the spot light 3dfx would of taken from nvidia.

It's all about execution. Promising new technology doesn't mean anything if you can't deliver the goods. Repeat after me, execution, execution, ex...nevermind.

Didn't 3dfx make a statement saying that they made a mistake in releasing a product that they felt people should want, rather than releasing a product that people would want?

Poc, remember when nvidia couldn't get fsaa to work properly but no one bash them but now 3dfx had HSR in beta build and ppl say execution? can they have atleast a month to execute or should they had kept dropping weekly drivers like nvidia does?

you would think they would. after all, they need the people who MADE 3dfx and Gigapixel tick. Gigapixel especially, becuase they made this stuff, and it would make the most sense for them to stay, so that nVidia will then be able to figure out what Gigapixel has done, and also continue with the R&D (which I feel is what 3dfx spent most of their money on).

it finally appeared 3dfx was about to pull out with a great new product, not to mention that the V5 with HSR would have helped sales there.

Its funny, since our good friend Quino on For Sale/Trade forums, will be offering even more killer prices on Voodoo4/5 boards. 😛
