Hmm... What will happen to Bubba?

I think he'll be unwelcome at Nvida because he alienated so many people with his comments.

<< Will Dave still have a job?? I sure hope so
He will, at Nvidia, as long as they don't read these forums.
>>

He will have to wear an nVidia employee shirt with his name stiched on it. Every time he puts it on in the morning a single tear will roll down his face. It will be a constant reminder of who he is owned by now. He will slip into a deep depression and will never be seen on these forums again.

They have:
a ton of money,
almost all the patents not owned by Rambus,
how long till we see the result of it?

I haven't felt like this since I rearended that chick in VW Bug! SHOCKING!

I was just at another site that I hadn't been to before and read the news. At first, I thought it was a joke, so I came here to verify. Just glad this thread was on top, the last thing I need is to hear Hardware pontificate to the masses. :(

Lets say NVidia charges 150 a chip to Asus, Guillimont, Leadtek, Creative, Elsa/Visiontek, and other board makers. They're not going to want to market a product that is going to be expensive to make and wont sell many.

Damn this sucks bad I wish ATI would have bought them. I bet matrox will do the same thing after having the same old card for sale all this time.

Rickn, that is so true but leave it up to hardware to email them all threads dave got set up for. Damn you hardware i swear you and your fooking flaming threads led to this and for once you were right about them having no money. Dave if this helps any i have an extra futon you can come sleep on. :( This fooking sucks i just got my V5 5500 wtf am i supposed to do now?

Hey Matt here is THE REAL reason of why you don't use glide in benchmarking cards. :disgust:

I heard someone say that Nvidia still has some competition, Where??

Ati can't get there drivers correct, and Matrox was a no show at comdex with the G800. So who the hell is the competition now, the Kyro? SiS please save us.

Jesus...I guess Hardware has won the Nvidia vs. 3DFX battle.

Sad to see 3DFX go since they were in my books the pioneer of 3d cards. I loved my Canopus Pure3d 3D card (Voodoo 1 w/6mb) which ran every game without a hitch.

I like Nvidia but personally I think since they wiped out the competition, their cards will be mediocre and expensive at best. Without competition, Nvidia doesn't have to roll out new technology as fast. Prices will most likely be jacked up to milk all of us out of our cash...:( There already isn't much variety when buying video cards since there is only 4 companies that makes the chips!(Matrox, ATI, NVIDIA, 3DFX) Now I guess there is only 3.:(

-Jimbo

P.S. COM'ON BITBOYS....HURRY UP WITH YOUR GLAZE3D SO WE CAN HAVE SOME COMPETITION!

Well, I didn't like the 3dfx vid cards, but I don't like Ford either. This seems to be a REALLY bad thing for the graphics card industry... I don't want to have to pay $500 for a good 3d card.

/me leaves to by a Radeon...

Let's put 1 + 1 together:

1) From NFS's link:
3dfx Interactive, Inc. (Nasdaq: TDFX - news) announced today that it will substantially reduce all of its workforce as part of an initiative to significantly reduce expenses

2) From Gamers Depot's interview with Brian Burke:
GD: What does this mean for future driver support for current Voodoo card owners?
Brian: Under the terms of this agreement, 3dfx will still be responsible for driver support.

So,
1) This sucks. With an Aureal Vortex and now a V5500, my computer is starting to look like an orphanage :(
2) Is this the end of the road for driver support just like Aureal?
3) Can we also take this to mean that HSR will never be finished?

Speaking of Aureal, nVidia has apparently already raided Matrox's engineers, like they did Aureal's. That's one of the supposed reasons for the delay of the G800. Maybe now they can get decent 2D.

What? Still no Dave? I guess he's still out getting the required nVidia logo stiched onto all of his work clothes.

Looks like Hardware was right all along. He predicted this awhile ago and no one believed him. People ever went as far as calling him names and saying he didnt know what he was talking about. Now it has really happened. Hardware now has some credibility in my eyes.

You guys are so mean! Dave is probably out drinking with his buddies. It's Friday, you should too, unless you under-age.

WetWilly: Yea, my system too. It's been 10 months since the last Aureal drivers were released, but my SQ2500 is still going strong and hasn't had any problems yet. Hopefully it and my V5 5500 will continue to work fine for another year.
