Bullshit. You're missing vital things your body needs and will die early.
No facts to back this up, but I appreciate the concern.

Take a look at your teeth. Do they look like cows teeth? No.
ROFL are you serious?
I think more people in America die by choosing to eat too much meat than too little.
Results: Our review of the 6 studies found the following trends: 1) a very low meat intake was associated with a significant decrease in risk of death in 4 studies, a nonsignificant decrease in risk of death in the fifth study, and virtually no association in the sixth study; 2) 2 of the studies in which a low meat intake significantly decreased mortality risk also indicated that a longer duration (≥ 2 decades) of adherence to this diet contributed to a significant decrease in mortality risk and a significant 3.6-y (95% CI: 1.4, 5.8 y) increase in life expectancy; and 3) the protective effect of a very low meat intake seems to attenuate after the ninth decade. Some of the variation in the survival advantage in vegetarians may have been due to marked differences between studies in adjustment for confounders, the definition of vegetarian, measurement error, age distribution, the healthy volunteer effect, and intake of specific plant foods by the vegetarians.
Conclusion: Current prospective cohort data from adults in North America and Europe raise the possibility that a lifestyle pattern that includes a very low meat intake is associated with greater longevity.

Funny how any advice by the government to cut back on consumption is seen as un-American or Communist. Back in WWII meat was rationed - the government didnt advise you to cut back, they made you. People who didn't were the un-Americans. Nowadays these clowns complain about having their freedoms and rights restricted on the mere mention of cutting back excess. It'll just be a matter of time before declining oil production, droughts in the Midwest and speculation drives up the price of meat to the point most regular people will have to cut back. It could be as early as this year so the USDA's advice now is not going to seem so crazy about next year.
Yea, nannystatism doesn't come into effect until it's mandated. The government can recommend anything they want. It doesn't have to be followed. In this case it's a sensible recommendation on a few levels.

or to persuade the USDA to ignore the self-serving indignation of the meat industry
I can't wrap my head around the fact that some people don't have one meatless lunch per week.
Americans don't eat that much of meat. McDonalds hamburger - supposedly "meat" between 2 pieces sponge - supposedly "bread"...Can you call it as eating a meat? Anything you get @ McDonalds - weren't even close to any meat producing animal....
Chicken? Ever wondered? why so many "chicken" restaurants in black people neighborhood and why black people more overweight than others?
Answer - steroids that chicken are fed to grow faster and bigger. And eating "chicken", steroids go to human bodies...More damage does so called "Diet" - prolly few do know - for body to burn fat, fat is needed.
Don't want to get fat? try ukrainian beacon:
You'll never become fat...
Wonder why?
Ever wondered, why most asian people are so fit, not overweight, except for sumo fighters?
Maybe FISH? Most people don't consider fish as a meat, but, it's a meat - FISH MEAT...
Just difference, you can not mess up with fish as you can with chicken - who would pour tons of steroids into ocean, just like injecting steroids into growing chicks?
Funny how any advice by the government to cut back on consumption is seen as un-American or Communist.
LOL Fail. Ever heard of mercury in fish? How do you think the joker went cuckoo for cocoa puffs?
