So why didn't they do that? Do they like making products that suck? Fact of the matter is "could" and "did" are very different so let's talk about what they "did" not what they "could" have done.

Right they put 2 year old tech in the mini because they couldn't fit the s4 dual core in it.BTW the s4 uses less power then the pos soc Samsung is using in the mini s3

Heck it doesn't even have 4g must be because they couldn't fit the radio

Why are any of them reliant on the size of the phone?

Phones don't have heat sinks and fans for the CPU like a PC, they don't rely on air flow.
Not sure what you mean by efficiency but I don't see how size is going to affect that.
If by battery life you mean sticking a bigger battery in the moto showed that you can do that without making a bigger phone.

If there's more room then heat has room to dissipate. More room also means bigger battery. The razr is a 4.3" phone.

When there's less room by volume, your options are fewer. Doesn't the iphone5 soc have all the radios on the SoC? Is the GS3 the same?

Is it just me, or does it seem like most Apple users simply wait for the specs of their next iPhone to form their arguments? If the phone had a 6 inch screen, they'd be singing the praises of larger screens. If it had wireless B, they'd be saying how you really dont need to download things that fast. Heck if it had a squirtgun, they'd be saying how often during the day a squirtgun comes in handy.

:). You mean 3.5" screen isn't the perfect size? I still remember how people here argued phones like 4" Galaxy S and 4.3" DX and Evo were too big and 3.5" was the perfect size because the thumb could reach all areas of the screen. Now it's 4" and up to 4.3" is the perfect size and 4.5-4.8" are too big. At least the 4" screen on the Galaxy S had the proper shape. I'll take the proper 3.5" screen over the overly long iPhone 5 4" screen. Longer is not better.

I'd like a 4.3" phone (used to own an EVO), but I'm happy with 4". 3.5" was definitely too small.

Overall the iPhone 5 is the best smartphone I've ever owned. Fast CPU, GPU as fast as the iPad 3, and long lte battery life. It's also received the best marks in display quality and I definitely notice it, especially it's performance in direct sunlight. Anand said that its the most accurate display out of the box compared to ANY display, pro monitors included.

I think a 4.3+ phone would be on the big side, but I'd still rock the iPhone if it had a 4.3" screen.

Yeah, it's just you. I don't think any of the Apple users here would do that.

Except for the squirt gun. That does sound pretty kick ass.

4 inch screen was the only thing I liked about my Atrix. I can't track my posts too far back but I posted many times how I wanted Apple to adopt a 4 inch screen. The highest screen size that I think I am comfortable with is 4.3 inches. Anything 4.5 inches+ I can still use but I don't like handling them in one hand and when I am on the bus or train (roughly 2-3 hours a day) it makes it hard to use my phone.

When I first saw the iPhone, I thought it was a pretty big phone. It was all the rage, and it made my dumbphones look tiny. When I first got my SGS2, I thought it was an enormous beast. It dwarfed the iPhone. I eventually got used to it, and when I got my Note, the SGS2 suddenly felt like a tiny baby.

Now I'm used to the Note, and I always enjoy the comments I get from people. Either people love it, or they insist it's too big. Yet I've never had any problem manipulating the device with one hand, I haven't dropped the phone more than any other dumbphone or smartphone. I haven't been unable to fit the phone in my pocket (including shorts). I have yet to run into any situation where the 5.3" screen would be cumbersome or inconvenient. I have however constantly enjoyed the stunning display, every single time I use the phone.

The Note is awesome, I'll probably get the Note II. There are only two downers for the original Note, the stock Gingerbread was horribly laggy even compared to the same OS on SGS2. They were very slow to update to ICS, and there STILL is not an official jelly bean out yet. That, and the camera shutter lag is pretty bad. Still an amazing device overall though.

It's definitely not for everyone though.

What's too big? Well, when the size does become a hindrance. I think 6" might be pushing it.

I think everyone is missing why woz made that statement. Apple offers only one choice. If people dont like the feel of that phone apple has lost a customer. If apple gave people more options more iphones would sell. Is there any other phone company that sells only one model? No. Also bigger phones do sell more. People are the ones creating this demand. I personally am waiting to get the samsung note 2 its size fits my personal needs better then any other phone so far.

Do sell more than what? the iPhone is the best selling phone period. Android isn't a phone, there isn't an Android phone that's any sort of threat to the iPhone by itself. If you were to use screen size & sales to make an argument. It would be that larger phones sell incredibly poorly compared to the smaller screened iPhone.

There's already been statistics to back up larger screen phones selling more. Someone can pull it up as it was posted in other threads here.

I'd like to see stats on one single large phone that sold more than the iPhone.

Why do we have to restrict it to one single model? Because Apple only offers one model? That's the downside to iOS and one of the biggest upsides to Android, a variety of handsets to choose from.

Every time I see someone use the "iPhone is the biggest individual seller" card I cringe because surely you know that with Android offering a vast number of different phones, no single phone is going to sell the most. If the iPhone is ever not the biggest individual seller then that's just an epic fail on Apple's part because that single model is the one and only offering.

I believe there have been over 20 million sgs3s sold in 90 days. Dont know how it fairs with other phones sold but that is damn impressive considering how many other android phones are on the market.

This is just like politics.

"No single phone outsells the iPhone."
"Large screen phones outsell the iPhone."

Both sides are correct while being incorrect at the same time.

But Red Storm, don't forget that Apple currently, and has for a few years now, sold three different models of iPhone. And two of the three (usually the $199 and $99 model) typically outsell every model of Android device, and the free on contract model is usually in the top five. The only time iphone sales usually stop is the anticipation of a new model.

Gs3 right now is out selling the 5 each week.its almost at 30 million and there saying there are 10 million pre orders of the note 2.

Sales have risen 9% each week after the apple lawsuit and the launch of the iPhone 5

We don't have iphone sales numbers for this quarter yet.

The only number we have is 5m in three days. So Apple sold 25% of Samsung's "stellar" 90-day SGS3 performance in three days.

Granted, Apple isn't likely to catch Samsung's expected 30m by the end of the year, but I suspect Apple will get 15-20m and catch up next year, right before the release of the SGS4, where we get to repeat this whole thing all over again.

Here's the deal. Android, mostly Samsung, markets share is increasing. iOS market share is increasing. They're not increasing at the expense of each other. They're increasing at the expense of RIM and Nokia right now. The stellar sales this year are not the result of a percieved weakness in either Apple or Samsung. It's just general growth in the marketplace right now.

I hope Nokia and Windows Phone prevails.

Why would anyone hope otherwise? Blind brand loyalty?

I feel like there's discrepancy in the way SGS3 sales and iPhone sales are reported, but I can't be certain. It's like the 9 million preorders figure. Can you imagine the hype a phone would generate for 9 million preorders if the iPhone got 5 million only?

Anyway, I'd like to see how these 30 million are reported, and if it's # of shipped or whatever?
