It's hard for me to feel bad for a large faceless corporation. I would have kept it probably =/

dude you should have keep this decision to yourself. you let the internet talk you into making the decision you made. people were telling you to do something they wouldn't do just for their entertainment purposes. so they could LOL or ROFL at you. i seen it coming though. one question. what will you do next time this happens?

Hmm, I wonder for those people who said to return it. Do you call the police and turn yourself in when you go 2 MPH over the speed limit?

Call them if you want, but there's nothing they can do about it. There's a bill that says that if you recieve a product in the mail that you dind't pay for, they cant make you pay for it. There were several scams some time back where companys would send you a "Trial" product and would carge you for it if you didn't send it back. Call, let them know, but know that they can't take it back from you. This includes sending you the 'wrong' model in your favor. They can't change the price on you or make you send it back. They just swallow the loss. But if it's in their favor... then there's something /you/ can do about it. Consumer Protection Laws. God I love them.

Well legaly its yours so.... I would have still called and told them though. As for them making you do all this extra crap I would call up and get a better rep thats BS... atleast get them to send Fedex to you. I know for me the closest Fedex sort facility is 40 miles from here, they better never send me and extra item and expect me to drive to return it...

If you felt that the hard drive was overpriced hyperlite...then you should have kept it.

If you were happy for the price of getting a "sweet deal" from the hard drive, might as well return it.

Dont worry, there are lots of opportunities in life, you win some you lose some. And losing a hard drive isnt a big deal that you technically didnt pay for in my book.

LOL, wow... hmmm you call me that. Yet, you repost a minute after the previous post just to say that. How sad.

Oh and just to let you know, since you do not know how to look up drop locations; here is a list of FedEx drop off locations in the Barre, VT area that are much much closer than 40 miles that you claim to be from the nearest place. FedEx

Oh just so I make it clear. I am not insisting the OP keep the drive. Nor am I implying for him to return it. He should do what he wants, thought he was trying to get people's advice. I was just trying to make a point (yes maybe a poor example, cut me some slack) of how those who say to return it would do it themselves. I am sure some would.

As for my opinion of what I would do. I would call and see what they say. If the person said keep it, great. If I was the same as they told Hyperlite, I would somehow make a deal for a cheaper price to maybe keep it. If they wouldn't do it then i would have them setup a pickup time for UPS, FedEx or any other service to pick up the box if it was out of my way to send it back.

Worst comes to worst, if you have a Staples store in your area, just bring in the box to their shipping and copy center and they accept packages.

Not a really good analogy, as no one "gave" you (unintentionally or otherwise) an opportunity to go 2 mph over the limit...you do so (speeding) on your own accord, whereas the guy didn't place his order with the intention of getting an extra hard drive for free.

Edit--nevermind...I see others have previously offered similar comments, notwithstanding the personal parts of said comments.

IF the call center drones on the phones are able to comprehend what happened, they are unlikely to spend the money to issue a call tag for the drive.

I have had good experience with Newegg until recently. I ordered a DvD-RW DL Drive from them on Monday, 10-25, and still have not recieved it. When I called them Thursday last week, they said that the credit card address may need to be verified. I have used this card at the site with no problems before. I called my bank, and they said it has already been charged. I recieved an E-Mail later that day saying that had "warehouse issues" that caused the delayed shipping. When I talked to them on Monday this week, they said the order will be expedited, and the "warehouse issues" have been resolved. It has not been shipped as of today yet, hopefully tomorrow. I did place another order early Monday, and part of it already shipped, so they may restore my faith. I remember a time before when I placed an order and it always shipped the same day, even without paying the extra fee. What happened??

Three options:

[Return it]
[Keep it]
[Ebay]

If its a company you respect, I'd say return it.

If they want to charge you shipping and give you $10 store credit, wtf? I'd keep it.

IMO when you called you should of asked to talk to a supervisor or manager.
