This might be a little off topic, but is there anywhere I can get a life size cardboard cutout of mah boy Carlos Matos?

EDIT: Mother of God. Custom cardboard cutouts. My life is complete now that I've found this website.

I've been craving a well polished open world game where I can escape to.

Skyrim is an absolutely beautiful game but I'm suck of it.

I just bought Far Cry 5. I know this is not a deeper RPG, but an action FPS first. But the open world is pretty nice.

That's how I'm mining my humble 1060 6gb.

Do yourself a favor and get Zelda BoTW running CEMU emulator on your PC. Best open world game I've played in a long, long time.

Skyrim and Far Cry 5 I can 'relate' to their world.

Skyrim: I'm a humble man in a beautiful medieval fantasy world where I can hike the woods and pretend I'm in the old days.

Far Cry 5: This is a present day Montana. I love nature.

I know BotW got tons of raves but their cartoon world doesn't suit my bill for wanting to 'immerse' in. Hope I'm making sense.

Will definitely play for the gameplay some years down the road.

I too am only mining fun.

The Final Fantasy XIV free trial has been fun so far (level 20 conjurer). Warning: after the initial big install download, there is another 21 GB patch.

Did you run into the awkward INTERRUPT problem that I did when playing? Essentially, when I walk out of a telegraphed AoE, which interrupts my cast, I resume casting again to only run into another interrupt even though I'm not moving (on my screen).

Last derailment before I stop but while I agree about the cartoony graphics, Zelda actually does a better job of immersing. For one, you can actually climb stuff like trees and mountains. And cooking in the game is more fun than in any Elder Scrolls game IMHO.

Interesting. I may check it out earlier than I thought then.

So just buy a Nintendo PC controller and go?

Also let me clarify that when I used the word 'immersion', I meant literally feel like I'm in their natural setting.

GTA5 did an excellent job. I really feel like I'm messin' around in LA.

That's what I mean. I love consoles and I probably already love this latest Zelda (I grew up with Link to the Past). But this doesn't fit the bill of me wanting to escape my life for the evening into another gaming world.

Another needless example is that I really love to travel. But with kids, I can't. And I haven't in last 3 years. When I fire up Far Cry 5 - due to it's open-world setting with a 'realistic' choice of graphic style, I can kinda feel like I'm traveling somewhere.

You know what I mean?

Taxes have turned to be a nightmare. Especially since Bitcoin.tax didn't get things exactly right (though it got close). But exporting that into a 8949 isn't quite working, since GDAX seems to have treated bots selling hundreds of times into a single fill order as separate transactions. Though I understand you can just summarize what was done - that's just GDAX

So... it looks like I might be paying the full income tax on everything sold in 2017, and filing for an extension. Reddit seems to be recommending not attempting any 1031 like-kind exchanges. If I pay my worst case tax bill which I know is an over-payment, I can get some back in 2018. But at least if anything gets rejected, I won't be on the hook for any tax penalties. Since the like-kind exchanges squash any LT gains, there may be another way around it via FIFO vs LIFO, cost averaging, etc. Bitcoin.tax was showing somewhat substantial differences for me...

I'm going to be super thorough and fair with the like-kind exchanging and treat it as taxable at the time, but I'm also going to deduct Bitcoin lost on BTC-e (returned only 55%) and Bittrex (locked my account in December, and I refuse to provide them my SSN, so that BTC on there is as good as gone). I'll be working hard to get back as much as possible!

I don't understand why you guys don't just say "fuck it", drop a number on the tax return, and let IRS figure it out on audit? Your odds of getting hosed here are extremely low, unless you happen to be one of the few lucky Crypto millionaires.

Y'all never gave up your SSN to trade crypto right?

That's what I used to do, but then 2017-2018 turned me into one of the lucky few (barely). I think flags may be raised given that my owed tax has gone up an order of magnitude in 2017, compared to 2016. And it's not like my day job in 2016 didn't pay well... I'd rather play it safe as I've got a lot lose now if I don't.

yeah the above comment was definitely not directed at "the lucky few". Pay your taxes you f'n deadbeats so the rest of us can cheat at will.

I've been using my CPU to mine some PC games.

And I've been using mine to "mine" on some BOINC projects (IBM's World Community Grid and PrimeGrid). For science. With the occasional PUBG match a few times a week. For fun.

Luckily America is still a (mostly) free country, so I am free to choose what my CPUs do with their spare cycles. As are you.

That's not true. I read the rule book on America and it said you have to use your PC for PC gaming.

I'd never let IRS figure it out on audit, you kidding me. You must not know how vicious IRS is.

One time I made a small mistake on my employee-stock plan. I only made out about $3K (which was a lot to me then) by cashing out.

I forgot to properly report it. Well, IRS audited me after 5 months saying I owe them $25K LOL - the full amount of the ESP vested stock price.

I mean, that must be the IRS' way of saying 'don't fack with me'. Anyone can plainly see that it should've been purchase price - sell price = taxable gains.

IRS doesn't give a crap. IRS basically told me "yea you facking figure it out, I'll just bill your ass and tack on interest and penalty on top LOL. It's not MY money."

The key difference there is your social security number.
I mean, do you really think IRS' only way of tracking you is SS?

I treat IRS like I treat US cops. If they have to go and get you, they're gonna be bringin' asswhuppin' too.

And why wouldn't I pay tax? What's the alternative option? You got NONE. It's tax evasion straight up and you gon be rekt.

This further aligns with your position of getting audited when you become rich. Well, aren't we all in Crypto to become filthy rich? We all know that's our honest answer for ALL.

1) You only automatically get flagged when your SS is involved. Otherwise I can search facebook and come up with 20 people with my exact name in this town. Otherwise they only discover it upon audit.
2) I'm not saying to NOT pay your tax, I'm saying you don't need to do 82349745983798743 hours of work to come up with a dollar amount because your odds of being audited are incredibly low since your SS# is not involved, so just put some shit down on paper and call it a day.

How'd you get cash without SSN?

Or did you "cash out" through "other" means, and not directly into bank?

The risk you take long-term is, if you get a huge return on investment, it may be challenging to properly demonstrate long-term holds; in attempting to prove your stake, it may open up a can of worms.

I had a low-key year, but cash hitting bank accounts (and the exchanges I got USD from, like Gemini, being generally good American businesses that will almost surely end up opening their books to the IRS and SEC) adds a worrisome wrinkle, especially when there is Coinbase activity as well. I figured it was in my best interest to properly record the trades this year, a modest year, so that in the event of massive gains I should hopefully end up in the long-term bracket, or in the event of losses I can deduct them.

If you aren't actively trading, I wouldn't even think about filing anything, but if you are trading, I'd caution against not paying the tax man.
