Seriously, quit trying to sound like you were victorious in a battle between a big company and a little person. If CC was in fact wrong, then I would say "right on, stick it to them...glad you came out with what you deserved"...but the truth is that you knew well and good that what you were trying to do wasn't what the promotion was offering. Now you are just trying to justify yourself by making this thread so you can feel all big and mighty.

You've already proven to us that you knew the price of a regular gamecube system and the details of the promotion. You just wanted to be a smart-ass and get yourself an extra game. Jackass.

Not only that, but he made quite a few people that work there go home having a bad day at work. I wish the manager hadnt given in, no matter how late it was. All that does is make him feel like he was right all along. If it were me I would have told him to leave the store, and if he didnt comply, I would call the police.

I don't need to feel big and mighty by posting a thread on anandtech and listening to people argue with me. If you don't like what I have to say then move along

I've gone through some pretty bad customer service, but this one was bad. Got there at 830pm, they close at 9pm and left at 920pm, I'm thinking about calling up headquarters, but I dunno if I want to go through the aggrevation. Okay here's what happened, LMk what you think:

Uh.....didn't you ask us for our opinions? How typical, another person who makes a ranting thread thinking he's right and says "LMK what you think" but really means : "if you don't agree w/ me, get the F*** out of my thread"

Oh, ok, so because they didn't write out a 10 page report detailing the deal, you get to scam them for $50?
rolleye.gif

Let me clear this up for you, once more.

You did not buy a gamecube. You bought a gamecube bundle. You were already getting a free game. The deal did not apply to you. You were in the wrong, and still got your way, so you should stop complaining.

but who the hell tells their customer wait till 9:30 for a fight ?

would you run your business that way ?

No, I said he went too far, but in that department, its probably not their top level sales guy, its probably some underpaid little high school kid. You also are hearing the story out of lacrosseboy's mouth, you KNOW if he had said something to incite that, that he wouldn't post it here. Maybe you should ask the circuit city people and see what THEY say happened.

Who gives a rat's ass if he inticed it or not? That isn't the point Deeko. An employee of Circuit City is simply not allowed to make comments like that. It is extremely unprofessional.

Plus, who cares if he isn't the top level sales guy, just because he is a high-school kid gives him the right to threaten (more or less) a customer. You can't be that thick-headed.

WHS- I think you were in the wrong. Technically, Circuit City doesn't have to sell you anything. It never hurts to attempt to get a killer deal, and it never hurts to speak to a manager. But after that, knowing that you are just trying to get a killer deal, you should have let it go. But that still doesn't justify the employee's comments towards you.

I already said he went too far, and shouldn't have threatened the customer, even if lacrosseboy had threatened him first(which by his headstrongedness it seems he probably did). But these employees are human beings, human beings have limits, you can't argue with them for an hour including 20 minutes after closing time, and expect them to maintain their usual level of service. I concede what he did was wrong, but hey, how many people here can say THEY could have kept cool after all this?

Honkey, I'm not the moron. Do the math. It's $0.04 overcharge. I don't care what you say, but $0.01 is an overcharge.

I think that this was a MISTAKE brough on by Nintendo, which CC took part in, and the guy had a really bad attitude. If he would have been professional, I would have left it alone, but it was totally unprofessional of him.

The deal was on a Nintendo Gamecube.

You purchased a Nintendo Gamecube + Mario Sunshine bundle package.

You have even conceded that it said the price of said gamecube on the sign.

The deal did not apply to you, as you were not getting a Nintendo Gamecube.

You still got the deal.

Stop complaining and be happy that you have $50 in your pocket that you shouldn't.

Deeko, he's a freakin' moron who thinks that $149.95 MSRP being sold @ $149.99 is overcharging...

God this guy needs a good kick in the nuts.

Stores use the last 2 digits of the price as a code. At CC .99 just means its a normal, in stock item. .95 means its out of program.

I would bet that he isnt telling us the whole story. I would also bet that he was the one who inticed it. It could have very well been a threat that WHS brought, that the CC guy agreed to. That doesnt make the CC employee right, but it certainly doesnt justify WHS's behavior.

If you think any sales person (including me) will be professional and polite about customers like you in Best Buy/Circuit City/Fry's/Staples/Office Depot/Office Max/Toys R Us/CompUSA then you're in LA LA Land. It doesn't matter what their job is, a sales person is a human, a president is a human, if you push them too far, or you push their companies too far, they will eventually be defensive about it. If there are more people like you in this world, we'd be paying $699 for the next console system.

Ok, i'll agree with you about the attitude of the workers, they shouldn't be like that. But you got confused over 4 cent difference? If that's how you are, I feel sorry for you...tells me that you're completely anal about everything and that one tiny mistake such as a 4 cent mark up makes everything null and void...

just admit now, you KNEW you were wrong and you're only trying to make yourself feel better about this by making this thread but only to find out that this ranting thread backfired on you. Do yourself a favor and go return what you bought tonight....then buy it all back using the proper details of the promotion.

Possibly. But you also told us you were right in this situation which certainly wasnt true. I dont think you are a reliable source on the issue. You had long since decided you were right, and CC couldnt convince you otherwise. Nor could everyone here.

Fine, overcharge yes....I'll stop arguing about the lousy 4 cents. What really ticks me is that you think you are right. If you can just admit that you got a lucky break but was wrong about the situation, i'll get off your back. But you keep insisting that you were RIGHT, which you obviously weren't.

The cashiers at CC can be arses. This one guy wouldn't PM Toys R' US's price on a dvd because "they are out of stock", even though he never called them while I was there and there pricematch policy mentions nothing like this. Another time a cashier wouldn't PM CD-Rs to Radio Shack because after rebate the price was lower than the price I wanted them to match, once again, not part of their policy. The other bad experience was when a guy wouldn't PM a cable modem to Wal-Mart because Wal-Mart's price was below the cost of the modem for CC (cough...BS...cough). But I have had many good Pm experiences, just depends on who you get. Some of the people who work there are real idiots and jacka$$es and wont PM under any conditions.

true it is a overcharge. but if you cant afford $.04 then you shouldnt be buying a GC.

Im sure he had a bad attitude. you were scamming them. yes it was un-professional of him to threaten you to a fight. he should be fired.

But you should be banned from the store and shouldnt have recieved the item. If you couldnt figure the free game was NOT for the gamecube then you need some help.

Either way you are a thief. But go ahead and call coprate. tell them that one of the employes tried to fight you when you were trying to scam them out of a game. I wold love to see what they say.

I think that the store is arguing that their "GameCube" and "GameCube Bundle" are two different units. They'll sell you a "GameCube" and give you a free game, or they'll sell you a "GameCube Bundle" and not give you a free game. You're arguing that each item in the "GameCube Bundle" is an induvidual unit, but it's not.

You tried to buy the "GameCube Bundle" which does not qualify becuase you did not buy an induvidual "GameCube." I think what you did was worth a try, but in the end the store has you caught in a technicality.

*******

Here's a different example: You got to a computer store and want to purchase a notebook. The notebook includes on its list of inclueded software, MS Works. You also notice the store is offering a free USB mouse with the purchase of MS Works. Would you expect them to throw in the free mouse with your purchase of the notebook simply because it included an item that has another offer tied to it?
