Bullpen ERA just posted for the 3 game series on Sportscenter: Boston 4.52, NY 9.72, wouldn't that be DOUBLE? How sorry is it that all the NY fans were bragging about their bullpen in this thread, yet NY's pen can't do sht when it counts against their rivals. Rivera = shelled. Quantrill = shelled. Heredia = shelled. Gordon = shelled. Who will George buy to throw at Boston next? lmao!!!!!!!!

Some awesome notes from this series: Boston is galvanized by a smacking down of the biggest prima donna in the game, GayRod. Tanyon Sturtze gets his ass kicked after trying to choke Gabe Kapler from behind, then gets thrown to ground by Ortiz and Kapler and then Trot Nixon jumped in punching Sturtze.

Game 3: Millar gets hit after batting 8-10 with 3 HR's, and Boston batter are hit 3 times in this game. OMG THEY THREW AT THEM ON PURPOSE, OMG WHY DIDN'T MILLAR YELL FU FU FU, CMON JORGE!!!!! lmao,:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

Millar proceeds to jack one the next at bat, and hits 12-14 with 4 dingers against the NYY.

Boston now leads the season series 8-5, which includes a sweep in NY's own house while fans booed them incessantly and let brave Bosox fans chant Yankees Suck for the entire series.

The changing of the guard has begun, thanks NY (and your funnyass fans!) for such an entertaining weekend. Thanks for the spark, the kick in the ass, the punch to the balls that Boston needed to unite the team and set them on the right foot. Thank you for the beating you took ARod and "Hurt me" Sturtze. Thank you Ortiz for not connection with Sturtze's head, you would have been suspended even longer and may have killed the man. Thank you Mariano for your 5th career gag at Fenway (most in yoru career). Thank you NY bullpen for the spaghetti arms, as well as the meatballs. Thank you Joe Torre for leaving your shaken, asswhipped pitcher in the game so he could let Boston start a comeback and get those 2 crucial runs after the fight. Thank you Millar for the torrid hitting, and having the class to walk to first after getting hit after smashing 3 monster foul balls off a pitcher who NYY paid 32 million to get and gets shelled every outing. Thank you Nomar for your clutch hitting. And last, but not least, thank you Don Zimmer for the funniest moment EVAR at Fenway Park!!!!!! BRING BACK THE ZIM!!!!!! As always:
RED SOX NATION IS STRONGER THAN EVER!!!

7.5 games back. That's called being stronger than ever. Cool.

EDIT: As far as the Yankees paying alot for Contreras, What a short memory you have. The Sox were doing everything in their power to get him.
Yeah, I'm so glad we didn't get the POS. He is the opposing teams' bday gift every time he takes the mound.

Your pic is outdated. I should link to the Sox jumping on each other after the Rivera walkoff, but it's not worth the effort. Boston wins the wildcard, I'm calling it right now!

Uhhhh...that pic is wining the playoffs and going to the WS. Slightly different then a team flipping out and going nuts because one of the the best closers in baseball just blew his second save of the season in July, to a team that was 8.5 games out of it.

LMAO... That settles that. One thing for sure about the Yankees, they're loved or hated, never in the middle. Pretty easy to know what side I'm on... ;)

Kind of funny that ThePresence is the only true NYY fan who sticks around in this thread to take the verbal assault. *hats off to ya man* The rest are licking their wounds hiding behind their Derek Jeter desktop wallpaper, reliving the past.

I'd honestly like to see both a salary cap and a salary minimum. 60-100 million or something to that effect. And a player max salary of 12.5 million, maybe 15.

Very surprising how high the Mets are. The Yankees and BoSox are understandable, even teams like Anaheim. Then there are teams like the Twins who are loaded up for the future without the cash, so they must balance out. It looks like NY isn't getting the Big Unit because they've exhausted their farm system.

Arod, take note....When someone does good in the series, and then gets hit, jog to first and keep your blow hole shut.

It's different. A-rod got hit after driving in a winning run in the previous game. Coincedence?

That site is outdated. Red Sox are at $145.

Yankee fans don't have to relive the past. We're 7.5 games ahead of you NOW. In the PRESENT. It's not like we have to go back to 1918 to relive our glory days. :p

I got your PRESENT right here fresh off the press of ESPN:

Big Doubts: The Yankees have the best record in baseball, they have a huge lead in the AL East, they've got the easiest finishing schedule in the majors -- and their pitching is a mess...

So this is the state of the Yankees' rotation: Javier Vazquez is struggling to get some life on his fastball and has a 7.29 ERA in July; Kevin Brown is on the disabled list, and may or may not be activated later this week; Mike Mussina reportedly suffered a setback this weekend as he played catch, aggravating his sore elbow; the 39-year-old Orlando Hernandez has pitched well in three starts after missing last year; Jon Lieber is pitching but has trouble maintaining arm strength; and Tanyon Sturtze injured the pinky finger of his right hand in Saturday's fight and can't throw his changeup.

And the Yankees' bullpen, the backbone of the team for the first four months, has been heavily taxed, with Paul Quantrill, Tom Gordon and Mariano Rivera ranked 1-2-3 in the American League in appearances; all three appeared to have subpar stuff against Boston.

No wonder owner George Steinbrenner is obsessing about Randy Johnson... and Steinbrenner is completely at the mercy of a Colangelo, whom he offended 2½ years ago by nudging David Wells into breaking an oral agreement with Arizona.

Bwa ha ha ha. Good luck Wankee fans!

I'm from Alabama you moron. I don't particularly care for Boston either, but they are just following the Yankee's footsteps. If Selig had any sense he'd ban every member of the Yankees from baseball for life. :|

oh you're from alabama. that explains everything. dumbass.

Here's my answer to that. 7.5. That's it. 7.5.
And it's not like the Boston pitching is dandy. Schilling got shelled by the Yankees, Pedro got trounced by the lowly Orioles for 8 runs (please don't bring up that absolutely ridiculous Latino argument again  ), Lowe has been inconsistant at best (although he did pitch well against the Yankees, the Angels recently tore him apart), Arroyo has been even worse than him... Sox pitching got it's own issues, and that's without even touching the bullpen.

Boston? ~130 mill, second highest in the majors, iirc.

Or sleeping  A few games mid-season really don't matter, I don't know why sux fans are gloating so much. I guess this is as good as it gets in Boston. And how could anyone call Rodriguez the biggest primadonna in baseball? You know of Pedro Martinez, yes?

Newsflash: Curt Schilling is 4th in the AL in ERA. He's tied for second for lowest BAA at .288. He's third in the AL in WHIP, and Pedro is 4th in WHIP and 13th in ERA. Pedro is 3rd in K/9, and Schilling 4th. They are 2-3 in cumulative K's in the league (Schill's only ahead by 1). But guess what? There isn't a Yankee in the top 15 in ERA! Ok I'll give you top 20 in ERA, Vazquez at 16th. But Wakefield is 17th and Arroyo 19th. Yes, 4 Red Sox starters in the top 20 in ERA. 1 Yankee. Let's face it, Pedro has better numbers than any Yankee this year, and he's not even Boston's best pitcher!

Pedro has only been lit up by one teamX2 this year, and that's the O's. The O's are the prime reason his ERA is higher than normal. But oh noes, he sucks what will Boston do? Call Ramon Martinez out of retirement?? Somebody get me Byung Yung Kim on the horn fast!

Boston is 13th in the league overall in pitching, which is better than half. NY, before Sunday, was 19th. Guaranteed they will soon fall to 20th unless Brown comes back fast. WTG George, you just paid 17 mil for an invalid! Fenway fans could cough on the bastich and he would get hurt. He probably shouldn't do any live chats on AOL either, he could hurt his back adjusting the lumbar support on his computer chair....

The NYY bullpen had been solid up to the Fenway visit last weekend. But like the article said, they lead the league in appearances. Torre uses them too g.dam much and it's obvious. The fact that Boston's bullpen got the job done (for the most part aside from Foulke's 1 run let up and Timlim's salami) is only good news for Boston, and they will be getting Williamson (who is lights out when healthy) off the DL. NY doesn't have anyone that's good on the DL. They are in big trouble, not to mention they have a 50 year old in the lineup (Sierra) who could get hurt at any time, as well as old man Bernie who is due for a trip to the DL. Giambi (lol) hasn't been the same since he got laser eye surgery, and stopped pumping steroids into his gluteus maximus. Aside from the virus he caught from dirty Yankee stadium that his weakass immune system can't handle.... NY is in trouble.

Is knocking Boston's starting rotation the best you can do? I don't blame you, you didn't look at the stats, now you have seen the light. :D

Yes, BoSox starting pitching has been really good until recently. Maybe it's starting to fall apart? Schilling and Pedro aren't young anymore, maybe their arms are tiring? They both got lit up recently.
There is no question that Boston's starting pitching is considerably better than the Yankees starting pitching. Yankee starting pitching is below average. That's why we need The Unit.
