This thread is just DYING for a POLL.

It would be great OP if you added it to let folks vote on who they think is the guilty party (i.e. Who started the whole thing).

Just a thought.

I didn't read everything posted above, I can imagine the usual back and forth. I've watched 95+ percent of the Redsox games the last 2 years, and I think every Yanks/Sox game in that time.

Here are the facts: Arroyo is a #5 starter who has major control problems at times. He did not intend to hit A-H... I mean A-Rod. If Pedro was pitching it would be a different discussion. If it would have been Jeter or one of the MANY Yankees I don't like, but have class, they would have walked to first and that would have been it. A-Rod showed what sort of player he could be in big game situations. Joe Tori doesn't put up with crap and it will be interesting to see how A-Rod deals with the professional nature that is expected of most of the Yankees.

Forget the past, I don't think of the NHL is dominated by the Canadians. The Marlins (among others) have shown that payroll isn't everything. It should be a fun end of the season ahead if idiots like the most overhyped player in baseball keep their heads cool. Go Sox!

Watching right now, another HR for Damon who may have to have the right field pole renamed after him soon. Third Boston player hit in the inning, must somehow be Boston's fault huh? Seems like players with class know the difference between beaning and hitting. And of course, Yankees Suck! :)

(all is in good-natured fun, I can't believe how uptight some people can get)

Actually, it looked he was learning really quickly last night. He's just playing the PR game.

He's loving playing for a team who has so much energy. Do you think he gives a crap about PR? Well, he and V'tek put on a little "show" for the NY media once, very funny.

The Yankees have hit three Sox batters so far. Millar, being the latest after hitting three absolute bombs that just missed being home runs by a matter of feet.

Arod, take note....When someone does good in the series, and then gets hit, jog to first and keep your blow hole shut.

And yet, Veritek is the one that is too hurt to play tonight. That was some whupping he put on A-Rod.

He has a history of playing hurt if needed. Luckily there's a guy named Mirabelli who's averaging a HR about 1 in 10 at bats. Not much of an offensive drop-off, better than 90% of the starting catchers out there. (slightly worse at defense though, comes from watching too many knucklers)

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make by stating that Veritek can play hurt if needed. Either he's really, really hurt (which would be further embarrasment, considering that he's the one that supposedly kicked A-Rod's butt), or that he feels he's not "needed" in the rubber game of a 3-game series with your arch-rivals (and considering the fact that you're 9 games back, I guess you could make that point). Whichever point you're trying to make, I'll conceed.

Moving on, I bet most Boston fans didn't know that Mirabelli is the 4th best offensive catcher in baseball (unless there are more back-up's better than him). Basing a statistic like that (actually 1 out of 12.5) off of 87 at-bats is rediculous. You could turn Shane Spencer's August of '96, and turn him into a baseball god using logic like that. Logic does not seem to be your strong point though, so I'll stop there.

Seems to me the Sox are doing just fine right now while resting their star catcher tonight before a 2 week road trip.

Maybe it was the massive crowd around the two of them? From the video, neither of them did much damage except for Tek's 'bitchslap.'

You keep speaking of this "damage" and I have no idea what you're talking about.

1. Veritek shoved his hands in A-Rod's face.
2. This occurrance is somehow deemed a "bitchslap" by Red Sox fans, doing "damage" to A-Rod.
3. Veritek can not play tonight due to a sore wrist, undoubtably occuring durring the brawl, while A-Rod has no physical defect and seems to be playing without physical limitation.
4. In definace to all logic and reasoning, Red Sox fans continues to declare that Veritek did "damage" to A-Rod.
5. Yankee fans laugh and jaydee stops posting in this thread, because a 4th grader could carry on a better argument.

BTW, you can win this series and possibly the season series. The Yankees may not even win the World Series this year (although they have a very good shot), but they will get farther than the Red Sox, and in the end, that is all that matters to most Yankee fans. So cherish this moment, because in October, we'll be the ones smiling. For 85 years and counting.

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the red sox winning the season series? I wonder who's going to spank whom in the playoffs.

If this is the case yankee fans are even dumber than I thought.

We'll see, won't we :)... You know you gotta be afraid of the Sox when they've got Pedro and Schilling flying at you 1-2, and then there's the fact that we managed to take two of three (most likely) this weekend, even without those two.

It's no shock to me, I've always known that Yankee fans were extremely stupid.

Did I say he kicked NY's noname 3rd baseman's butt? Nope, although he certainly could use it from either an opponent or a teammate. The "point" I was making was simple: Tek has a history of playing when he needs to. Right now his backup is hot and I don't care if he burnt his finger on the toaster this morning, if he feels he can't play at 100% why should he hurt the team? It's called playing like a team, something that happens outside of New York and the NBA.

I also didn't say Mirabelli is the best thing since sliced bread, merely that he's not a liability at catcher where so many players are. His ability to clutch hit isn't in those stats, so I guess they do lie. Instead of a informed or at least productive response you respond with flamebait. Where's the logic there? Please don't respond to me unless you have something productive to say, otherwise just see my nick and pass on by, I don't have time for name calling and games.

On a positive note I'm glad that you've been closely watching baseball for 85 years, you must have ate your vegetables. I myself like games in color that have happened during my lifetime and the lifetime of the current players. You should watch it sometime, they even let football players throw the ball forward now, simply amazing.

Sox win, now off on the road trip...

AND THE RED SOX WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!!!

Bullpen ERA just posted for the 3 game series on Sportscenter: Boston 4.52, NY 9.72, wouldn't that be DOUBLE? How sorry is it that all the NY fans were bragging about their bullpen in this thread, yet NY's pen can't do sht when it counts against their rivals. Rivera = shelled. Quantrill = shelled. Heredia = shelled. Gordon = shelled. Who will George buy to throw at Boston next? lmao!!!!!!!!

Some awesome notes from this series: Boston is galvanized by a smacking down of the biggest prima donna in the game, GayRod. Tanyon Sturtze gets his ass kicked after trying to choke Gabe Kapler from behind, then gets thrown to ground by Ortiz and Kapler and then Trot Nixon jumped in punching Sturtze.

Game 3: Millar gets hit after batting 8-10 with 3 HR's, and Boston batter are hit 3 times in this game. OMG THEY THREW AT THEM ON PURPOSE, OMG WHY DIDN'T MILLAR YELL FU FU FU, CMON JORGE!!!!! lmao,:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

Millar proceeds to jack one the next at bat, and hits 12-14 with 4 dingers against the NYY.

Boston now leads the season series 8-5, which includes a sweep in NY's own house while fans booed them incessantly and let brave Bosox fans chant Yankees Suck for the entire series.

The changing of the guard has begun, thanks NY (and your funnyass fans!) for such an entertaining weekend. Thanks for the spark, the kick in the ass, the punch to the balls that Boston needed to unite the team and set them on the right foot. Thank you for the beating you took ARod and "Hurt me" Sturtze. Thank you Ortiz for not connection with Sturtze's head, you would have been suspended even longer and may have killed the man. Thank you Mariano for your 5th career gag at Fenway (most in yoru career). Thank you NY bullpen for the spaghetti arms, as well as the meatballs. Thank you Joe Torre for leaving your shaken, asswhipped pitcher in the game so he could let Boston start a comeback and get those 2 crucial runs after the fight. Thank you Millar for the torrid hitting, and having the class to walk to first after getting hit after smashing 3 monster foul balls off a pitcher who NYY paid 32 million to get and gets shelled every outing. Thank you Nomar for your clutch hitting. And last, but not least, thank you Don Zimmer for the funniest moment EVAR at Fenway Park!!!!!! BRING BACK THE ZIM!!!!!! As always:
RED SOX NATION IS STRONGER THAN EVER!!!

7.5 games back. That's called being stronger than ever. Cool.

EDIT: As far as the Yankees paying alot for Contreras, What a short memory you have. The Sox were doing everything in their power to get him.
