Will you be buying Mass Effect 2?

Still sitting on the first game on my Steam account, played it for about an hour, haven't touched it since. I need to go back and play through it first, but yeah, eventually I'd like to check out ME2.

Pre-ordered the CE edition for 360 the day pre-orders were available. Gonna get the PC version when it's cheap.

They're spending serious coin on marketing. Some impressive commercials. I love the one "you ever wonder where they go?" 🙂

I'll grab it first week if I can find a sale. Fry's is good for them. Will see..

I really enjoyed the first one. Got it on sale from steam for $20. However, with the current backlogs of game, I plan on waiting for Mass Effect 2 to go on sale before I buy it. I like that the decisions made on the first one will carry over to the sequel. I look forward to playing my character again.

To answer the OP's question, no, I "will" not buy it, since I already did, hehe. I bought the Digital Deluxe Edition on Steam, I pre-loaded it, and there's about two days left to go until I can finally play it, and I'm quite excited about it right now, I've been waiting for it ever since I first completed the original (which I've completed two other times after).

At first I wanted to wait for its price to go down a little, but then I am somewhat of a BioWare fanboy since my youth, I've been playing and enjoying all of their games to date and paying for the DDE on Steam right away at full price was, for me, my own way to say "thanks" for their commitment, because despite new questionable practices I still like BioWare very much, so I couldn't just avoid it, I had to jump in the hype wagon.

I'm buying it, just a bit later. I bought the first one and played the crap out of it. I just have such a back log of games right now that I haven't even opened that I can't justify spending more money until I get through what I have. By then a few patches will have come out and anything that may be unstable or broken will be fixed. Loved the first game for the story and looking forward to the second for sure.

I don't know. I've tried several times to play the first one, really can't get into it. I go to the citadel for the first time, and completely lose all interest.

yeah I felt the same way too but then after several attempts I finally got into it. my problem is that I have the fps mentality when I play games since rpg style games dont really appeal to me. once you get away from the citadel it gets more interesting and the combat is pretty decent too.

I just played through ME1 these last 2 days in anticipation. After reading the changes to the classes I wish I wouldn't have played an infiltrator though.. Their new ability seems cheesy and pointless to me. Being able to cloak would be cool if their was some kind of backstab ability so you feel like an assassin or something...

I have it pre-ordered and pre-downloaded on Steam. I'm going to be out of town camping when it's released which kind of sucks.

You'll be able to pick a new class at the beginning.

BTW, when can I preorder Mass Effect 3?

Yes for PC even though I played the first one on a 360.

The first one wasn't perfect, the gameplay portion was merely ok. I really didn't like it at first but eventually came to terms with it. The moon buggy portions were terrible for the most part, I hope that is radically changed or taken out completely in this game.

The story, characters, and voice acting were spectacular however and that made the game for me.

Well see thats the problem. I didnt think Mass Effect was great. The only part I really liked was the well-told story. Everything else was a poor mish-mash of bits of KOTOR and MMO style side quests.
So I'm gonna have to wait until people play it and talk about it.
Well if you didn't like 1 all that much, wait for 2 to hit the bargain bins. Like it or not, it's probably going to be more of the same. To me that's a good thing... for you, maybe not.

And thank you so much, Dorkenstein, for posting that link! I played ME1 on xbox and wanted to get ME2 for PC but didn't want to have to get ME1 for the PC and replay it for the save.

No problem at all, I was pleased as punch when I found it since I don't have an ME1 save at the moment of my own. More get added there every day, it's a treasure trove for anyone looking for a save.
