I am for police oversight, I have been for years. However, I realize there are a vast majority of people in this country (middle class to low income white people and middle class Latinos) that don't feel the need for oversight, they have the ears of the police union, the politicians.

Maybe you need to tell us what YOU are for. Because you keep arguing points and then claiming you don't agree with them. WTF man?

I don't approve of stop and frisk and chokeholds.
I want them to do their jobs as long as it is appropriate and professional
What are we paying them to do?
They are so idolized by celebrities, religious leaders and average white people, not only in America, but around the world

It does have to be black or white. Cops are given enormous amounts of authority. Those that are unable to appropriately use that authority need it stripped from them. A little light abuse of your fellow citizens never ends there. We have very low training standards for someone to become a police officer in this country compared to other first world countries.

Republican politicians are attracted to them now more than ever, in cities like NYC, Chicago, NO, LA, Democratic politicians, especially white ones need them to get moderates to the polls, because a lot of moderates still believe in them.

They get access to sports games and have Law Enforcement Appreciation Night, etc.

I lived in NYC for years, I know of the NYC PBA and the Yonkers PBA etc.
I know they are corrupt, they are one of the most corrupt unions in the country---why do they get away with outreach to minorities by giving them toys, etc.?

This is where they appeal to working class and middle class Black people....

It's hard to disband them
