I lived in NYC for a long time, I am not a cop, but I live in a district where there are a lot of cops who are frustrated and angry that people don't appreciate what they did on 9/11 and other events...
If police want the respect they believe they deserve then they need to do a better job earning that respect. You get what you earn.

A huge part of that has be the ‘good cops’ consistently holding the few bad apples accountable. My family has personally experienced the results of bad cops not being held accountable and allowed to continue policing after horrific incidents.

Sorry, but doing good things a few times doesn't give you cover to keep doing shitty things. Maybe if they stopped being shitty people and submitted themselves to real oversight, people wouldn't have such a problem with cops.
The NY Post, Lhota, etc. feel that oversight and all of that is going to handcuff the police from making arrests and doing their job.

Should there or should there not be like actual rules (namely the things known as laws and departmental policy) that actually applies to the employees of police agencies?

Should there be rules that people who say what people in New York think have to actually live in New York?

Why do you think crime went up from 2020 to 2022? It's because of some of the prosecutor's decisions like Alvin Bragg and Chesa Boudin..

That's what Lhota and the Vallones and Kelly are scared of.

No, I live in the tri-state area. I travel to NYC constantly.....my safety is important.

So do I. And I live in reality, and advise you to also. Everything you've said has been proven wrong. Using the NY Post and some right wing cop as your sources on reality is ridiculous.

Living in reality is better for your safety, because living outside of reality is bad for you, and bad for everyone else too.

So try it.

I do live in reality....the reality is that a lot of cops I run into are always angry and fretful, they want to protect the minority communities...

The NY Post, Boomer Esiason, etc., Pat Kelleher from the Giuliani years, and moderate Democrats like the Vallones don't want to go back to the 70s and 80s....when crime was at it's peak.....

So why do you, who does not live in New York, feel so differently than me, who does?
Because I lived in a NYC neighborhood that had a lot of crime in the 70s, 80s and 90s...and it would be tragic for NYC to go back to those days....

If Adams doesn't get crime down to 2017-levels, someone on the Republican line could win in 2025.

So you haven’t lived in the city for decades?2017 levels is way below anything in the 70’s through 90’s.

Adams is an incompetent piece of shit and I hope he loses, it’s not about crime though because crime is mostly about the NYPD which is itself a criminal organization.

The NYPD is sketchy like every other police organization, but they still have to do their jobs....not everything they do is bad...

what's your point? You must be trolling, or your IQ is like 90. Which is it?
My point is that the NYPD has a lot of supporters, both parties....why do you think most Americans call the NYPD the "Finest"? People think they are....even moderate Dems like Adams and the Vallones.

Why are you sour on Adams? He's what Democrats should be looking at right now...he is a moderate Black cop who can blunt the Republicans' accusation that Dems want to defund the police.

It seems you're implying that other Democrats do want crime to be like it was in the 70s and 80s?

Kelleher, Giuliani, Lhota, Esiason and the NY Post will have those views if crazy activists keep being one-sided with the cops.

Yes, there are a lot of crooked cops and the system is corrupt, like most of government, but police are a necessary evil.

Citation needed.
I'm not so fond of the police, they are a necessary evil, but a lot of people like them for some reason.
