Good luck man. Things will work out in the end. Just remember that if she wants out, she wants out. It's rough, but I would just talk to a lawyer and explain that you want to get out of this situation as quickly as possible. If you drag it out, it will become more painful and you'll probably be paying for both lawyers in the end anyhow.

Dude, totally. Sell the house and blow it on expensive PI's and lawyers.

That is why it is beneficial to the man to OWN the house prior to getting married and then she cannot force you out of YOUR house. You can even get out of giving her half the equity with a good lawyer and prenup. Any man who blindly walks into a marriage these days without thinking about all this stuff up front and protecting his ass is a fool.

Agreed x10^23

Realistically speaking how many men OWN their own home before marriage...., not many. Most couples get a home together. Sad it is has to come down to this.

And not all people are out to screw one another either. Most are, some are not. Depends.

Yep. Marriage is like a contract. If she cheats, she breaks the contract, giving him a whole lot more leverage.

Then he needs to hide as many assets as he can as quickly as he can, unless the bitch has already grabbed it all, and stop making the house payment or rent. Force here to spend money on lawyers to get him to do anything then. It is very important these days to have a private account the minute you get married. Preferably with your spouse having no knowledge of it and then you can sock money away for events just like this.

if the court discovers hidden assets, you are royally screwed, much worse than what she can do. Keep in mind property declarations are made under penalty of perjury.

I had my own house while I was still in college. One I was paying for, not my parents. I also had a decent amount of assets as I had my own business at the same time. I know plenty of guys with good jobs and enough money to own houses by themselves. I can thinks of three off the top of my head that are only 25 years old. I always tell my young friends these days to amass and protect their own assets BEFORE even thinking about getting married. Too many useless women playing the marriage lottery these days.

You are the exception then, not everybody is in that position. Don't sound so bitter, not everyone is out to screw, just in the good way. :p ;)

What I usually mean by hidden assets are accounts that hold cash that has already passed through the marriage. Most people allow each a certain amount to spend each month on personal things and hobbies. Women go shopping, I save it. It has already been divided up. No reason for her to get ANOTHER half. There are many ways to store wealth in ways no one would even know about also. Proving hidden assets is hard, especially when they are NOT IN CASH. I currently have my friend's entire gun collection in my safe. He has put a lot of wealth into the collection and she really knows nothing about it. Smart buyers don't buy guns at stores that create a paper trail. No need to register them in my state. I have all his guns and no one can prove he even has them.....case closed. He gets his divorce and gets his guns back. He could then quite easily convert them to cash. I did this once for a friend with a nice collectible car also.

I wish it were thought of as unbreakable, but sadly too many marriages are broken up these days :(

I hope to never have to have a prenup, but I don't think it's retarded for people to do so. I declare Mugs the retard in this discussion.

Quick question. How do you get a prenup after you're already married and your wife wants to separate?

In a thread like this, simply stating "Prenup" is useless. Yes, he realizes now he should've gotten one.

She wants more than just a separation. She wants your home, your children, half your assets, and half your salary from now until the day you die.

Entering a topic I know little about, how about unnumbered swiss bank accounts or something like that?

I'm pretty sure the Swiss no l longer do that but the banking system in the Cayman Islands sure does. Offshore numbered accounts would definitely be the best way to hide cash assets.

Most women turn incredibly evil once they decide they don't want/need you anymore but from my experiences and watching other people's experiences I am starting to believe that a high proportion of women are simply born evil.

dude, get the lawyer now. If you wait another day or two, you will lose out big time. You may still even lose out, both with a lawyer on your side, you will at least stand a fighting chance.
