Most are born into it, as I was unfortunately born into Catholicism. Some break free, others don't. Me, and Child's wife are free.

I once heard a quote from a guy who's now an atheist but was raised in a Catholic home. It was "I'm still grateful I was raised Catholic because that way sex will always be dirty to me."

🙂

Sorry dude but you're off-the-wall, out-of-this-world amazing (I could have used a few expletives but they would have been wasted on you).

You have joined a select group of what I like to call "Internet fools" who don't have a "filter" to know when to stop. I try my best to keep my private life ... PRIVATE. You (and the rest of the "fools" feel (for some bizarre reason) that it is necessary to post any/all personal information on the Internet. Why? Why would you want to do this? Who would care or want to know this? Does it make yourself feel better to air your (and your wife's) VERY personal information for THOUSANDS OF TOTAL STRANGERS to see?

I have to wonder about the Child of Wonder ...

I am outa here to places were sanity (and common sense) reign ...

You're an idiot. How have you been here so long? Sharing personal information is what ATOT revolves around. You should just go somewhere else, permanently, if you don't like the way things are here. Douchebag.

they knock on the door once in a while here. not a big deal. I work with a some lds people and i have never met an lds person that has not been a great, moral, hard working and prideful individual.

I've noticed that most of the individual Mormons I know are nice folks (although I've met a few douchebaggy ones.) I'm still not a fan of the LDS church because of their heavy emphasis on obnoxious proselytizing and obvious money-grubbing ways, but most Mormons seem like they'd be pretty good neighbors.

You have to declare yourself apart from the church before they leave you alone? Fuck man... that's worse than those spam emails that say "you must click here to remove yourself from the list". At least there's a spam filter for those. There's not much in the way of door filters apart from opening the door with a fully opened bath robe.

That's because Mormons aren't Christians. You can't make up additions to the Bible and claim you're still a Christian.
Additions to what Bible?
All Christian sects have their own interpretation or additions to the "Bible".
Yours is no different; it was just added or interpreted earlier than the Mormons.

...but yeah, I know what you mean.
The Mormons are a much more modern sect and we can all agree they are crazy. (magic golden plates, magic translation glasses, magic underwear, etc)

edro:

I'm an atheist. I don't think that the Book of Mormon is any less true than the Bible, at least the religious bits. I figure the Bible is at least partially based on real history whereas the Book of Mormon is totally made up, but I'm going off on a tangent here.

My point was that even though I don't believe in it the term "Christian" still has a certain definition. The most common once I've heard is a belief in a trinitarian god and in the Bible. Once you start adding other holy books you're no longer Christian IMO.

Let's see ... I'm an idiot and a douchebag.

Why don't you just calm down and take a xanax? Based upon your response I recommend at least 1 mg. You're a "lifer" and you think that sharing personal information in a public forum is a good idea? You're probably one of those village idiots who blow dries their hair in the bathtub.

There's just no words available to describe how utterly moronic your thought processes are ...

I saw that you were the last one to reply to this thread and said aloud "oh goody..."

You, sir, are ignored.

did she get to keep any magic underwear?

She never went to the temple so she didn't have any.

However, her mother did force her to wear only white granny panties and bras. She was 18 when her and I started dating and I got her to change that REAL fast. 🙂

I guess the difference is that you look at this place like a zoo, where lesser beings parade around for your amusement.

I look at it like a neighborhood bar full of IT-smart people. You don't have much fun if you just sit there and never get to know anyone. There's a mix of people from all over the world. Some are smart, some aren't; some are gay, some are straight; some are men, some are women; some are funny, some aren't. And some, like you, are just assholes that everyone wishes would leave.

A Christian is simply someone who follows the teachings of Jesus as Christ. A lot of evangelical Christians love to make up their own definition of the word so they can exclude others and feel superior, but the word is very clearly and specifically defined. Mormons are definitely Christians.

But if you believe Jesus said and did different things than what main stream Christianity believes, is that really being Christian?

I can declare myself a Republican but if I believe Republicans have got it all wrong I don't think they'll count me among them.

I'm pretty sure Christians consider Mormons as cults.

Christians believe in Christ and their own holy bible. Some AMERICAN that deems himself as the returned Christ in 1800s & has their own bible is a pretty much a heresy.

The word "Christian" is very broadly defined, and always has been. Just because some people want to make the definition less wide, that doesn't make it true.

EDIT: Look up the word "Christian" in any dictionary and see what you find.

One of the teachings of Jesus was that there wouldn't be any more prophets after him.
