Why was I circumsized?!?!

<< However, reading your reply, I'm not sure if that's a good thing. I think I'm changing my mind about wanting to be cut, something I'd never expect from a thread on ATOT...
>>

Unless there is a medical reason for surgery, I think guys are crazy thinking about getting circumsized after they are babies. I would not want a knife to be near that region of my body.

My opinion is that if you were circumsized as a baby (as I was) you should be perfectly happy. If you were not circumsized, you should also be perfectly happy. As for the differences in sensation, I think it's overblown. I think the brain compensates for this and in the end, we all have similar sensation in that area.

I don't think I have a problem in the sensation area. When I was a teenager, I constantly got embarrassing boners during class (it usually happens when I'm sleepy for some reason -- and I was frequently sleepy during many classes). I would get boners when I walked because of the way my underwear and pants would be rubbing my nub-nub region.

Okay, I figured out what that red line is called and where it comes from...
It is called the "Preputial Raphe."

<< The "seam" up the underside of the penis where the urethra closed up before birth."

raphe n. a line, ridge, or crease in a tissue or organ, especially the line marking the junction of two embryologically distinct parts that have fused to form a straight structure in the adult. For example, the raphe of the tongue is the furrow that passes down the center of the dorsal surface of the tongue.

If you're wondering what the hell I'm talking about you can see a picture of one HERE (though the picture is a bit small.

<< LukFilm~ Wow, that's really honest of you to admit. I strongly urge you to continue to read about the subject and people's experiences with being cut. Most of the people that were cut when they were born don't know the difference it makes... >>

I don't think it's accurate to base opinions from people who were cut after they were babies because a baby's growing brain will compensate for the lack of nerve cells. After a certain age the brain pathways are more or less settled and their sensations from being cut will be vastly different from those that are cut from birth.

I will never know what it's really like to be uncircumsized and uncircumsized men will never really know what it's like to be cut from birth.

My ex told me that was she misses with her current BF is the fact that when I got hard, I got REALLY hard, something her current BF cannot do. I wonder if it has anything to do with circumcision...

<< here are some examples of methods used to perform circumcisions and what can go wrong with a circumcision.

NOTE* The links below contains pictures of penises and surgery.

Problematic Circumcisions

These pictures may not be very fun to look at with all the cutting and blood and stuff, but I figure that you should know either what you avoided or what you went through when you were a baby. It could change your thinking on this issue pretty quickly...

Looking at your pictures of surgery I don't even want to think about circumcision anymore!!!

I think that's an excellent point. I can't really say I'm disappointed that I was cut because I don't know what the difference is. I'm quite happy this way and, although I'll reserve the final decision for later, I intend on getting my sons cut as well.

Well since there's so much interest in the subject perhaps you would be interested in this tidbit from history. Majellan circumcised the globe with a forty foot cutter.

While that is true, it is also true that the surgery is very painful either way and ought to be considered as a form of genital mutilation. Also, I know for myself, based on the accounts of grown men that have been circ'ed, that I would never want to go through that. I am sure that if I were not intact that I would accept it (not too much choice) and try to be happy with what I've got. What I am really fighting for here is to educate people about it and hopefully make them think things through so that when they have children, or know someone who is having a baby, they will not hurt their sons. Maybe they will even pass on this knowledge to others and we can stop this cruel and highly unnecessary practice.

If people really feel strongly about not wanting to be cut anymore, it is possible to stretch out one's existing shaft skin in order to recreate a foreskin. It probably wont cover the whole head and it wont be made of the same type of membrane-like skin that the original foreskin is made of, but I hear that for some people it is better than not having a foreskin at all. You can also read about how to do this at that forum, though I hear the stretching takes a while and is difficult, though not painful (but I'd probably do it if I were cut).

Yeah, they made me feel pretty ill. It also made me have sympathy pains... I think they frightened Mr. Wankey (yep, that's his name). 😀
ha!

I have nothing against others wanting to be circumcised, but each person should decide for themselves. Not their mother or father, or doctor, or anybody but themselves. Your children are not items that you own, like a couch or a bed. Because they have your genes doesn't mean you own them.

If you want to discuss how practical it is to remove the foreskin, it would seem that the cons greatly outweigh the pros on this issue. Anyone disagree?

omg, botched circumisions... *frightened*

u know they used to just try converting botched jobs into girls? you know, nature vs nurture, they should nurture was stronger.😛 they were soooo wrong.

Umm yeah, I think you might mean circumnavigate. 😀 😉

From dictionary.com:

<< circumnavigate

\Cir`cum*nav"i*gate\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Circumnavigated; p. pr. & vb. n. Circumnavigating.] [L. circumnavigatus, p. p. of circumnavigare to sail round; circum + navigare to navigate.] To sail completely round.

Having circumnavigated the whole earth. --T. Fuller.

circumnavigate

v : travel around, either by plane or ship: "We compassed the earth" [syn: compass]

It's a farside comic.
>>

heh, well don't I look sheepish... 😀

a: i've never had any complaints

b: if god wanted you circumcised he would have done it himself

i don't know about y'all, but whenever i've gotten some action the soldier is at attention when it makes its first appearance... i would wager that most of the girls i've been with never even knew... the only ones that i've ever had a conversation with regarding this were serious girlfriends

<< Why do you care so much Epsil0n00 that people want to be/are circumsized? >>

Elsil0n00 = Dr. Dean 😛

sure, chop off over 1/3 of the nerves in the most sensitive region of your body and leave it uncovered so it develops a callous just because it's "too hard to wash under the foreskin". Excellent logic. Even better when you think of all the accidents, infections, and even deaths that occur as a reult of circumcision. Why is it called circumcision for men but "genital mutilation" for women?

Is it just me? or does Epsil0n00 care a little bit too much about what my wang looks like.

epsil0n00: Its nice that you have an opinion, but its not proper to push it onto other ppl.

Especially people that didn't have a choice about it. Would you go around and say, "you know, you really should have been my race, it's much better"?

<< Why was I circumsized?!?! >>

So your hand doesn't fly off and hit you in the forehead.

but in all seriousness, it's for cleanliness. Uncircumsized penises are easily infected if not constantly cleaned.
