Because it's $300(for the good version) and we are in a down economy! WHO KNOWS WTF IS GOING TO HAPPEN BY SEPTEMBER '09, AT&T MIGHT EXPLODE ON YOU... Seriously, just don't be a drone and get an iPhone... not worth the money.

It starts at $199 not $299.

Because you have to pay $80/month for service.

Yup. Unless you need all the services, it's a lot to pay every month.

To be fair, the price is no different than any other voice + data plan from the other providers

Are you insane? I have voice+data from Sprint and it is no where near $80/month.

sigh

I shouldn't be doing this but...

Sprint: Everything Data: 70 bucks/month, unlimited data + 450min
VZW: PDA/Smartphone Nationwide Email: Monthly access starting at $79.99
TM: Internet: 40, Voice, starts at 30 = 70

ATT: Data + 450 = 70 bucks

Thanks for playing.

(SERO doesn't count, thanks)
T-Mobile's data plan is $20, sport.

I have 1000 anytime/unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited data, unlimited messaging - I pay $69.99

Was just going to say that about t-mobile data.

As far as any mobile device can go, the iphone is great for web browsing. Ultimately, though, as a productivity tool, its messaging functions suck.

I had an unlocked 1g iphone on tmobile with the 6bucks tzone hack, much cheaper than ATT at the time :)

5.99 for T-Zones, 19.99 for data.

The T-Zones hack was awesome - I had that on my WinMo phones.

No freaking way??? We have a forum dedicated to this stuff?

What's next? A forum to discuss current events and the insanity of politics?

I said for the good version... No one gets the 8GB version, that's lame. 16GB all the way if you're getting an iPhone. White back too, just to say, "Yeah, I got the 16GB bitch"

Also the iPhone plans require $80 a month, you can't get an iPhone plan any cheaper.

Me too. The fact that it's now the best selling phone in the US speaks volumes.

Not really. The Razr held that crown for a long time and it was garbage. Its proof that people go with form over function - the Razr was strikingly more attractive than other phones at the time, but feature wise, it is subpar.

<3 My AT&T Tilt

My sister has the latest iPhone. The one thing I can say is that the screen and UI are pretty sick. Smooth motion and response in comparison to my Tilt. I understand that the touch technology is based on electric fields on the iPhone whereas the Tilt is based on pressure, however.

In the end, though, I love my slide-out qwerty keyboard, and my camera, and my MMS.

You might be able to say that with the Razr, but that is no where near the case with the iPhone. It's full of function, and every manufacturer is trying to duplicate it. The fact that it hasn't been out 2 years, and is now the top dog, is amazing.

I like my iphone. But then again, I got it free from work. I wouldn't actually pay to own one.

So why did you get it then?

I have the EDGE and 3G versions of the iPhone. Prior to that, I had a Blackberry, a Windows Mobile (Dash) phone and a handful of others.

I'm 80% business user, 20% games, personal use, etc. I was pretty dismissive of the iPhone until the App Store came out, but with that all of my concerns have really been addressed. The business apps, entertainment apps, the delivery, etc. simply can't be rivaled. Couple that with the iPod, great touchscreen and email integration and I have all I need.

The downside is AT&T, the keyboard and the lack of multitasking. That doesn't diminish my enthusiasm though.

OWNED. add to that the garbage customer service that sprint has. I wouldn't wish a phone call to Sprint customer service on my worst enemy.

where did you get $40/month for Tmobile internet? 3G speed internet is $20/month.

I used this page as reference

And however you want to cut it, ATT iphone plan is in the same ballpark as all the other providers
