The truth is, any mainstream rap/country/rock probably does suck. If you take the time to get into the genre and find more 'underground' artists, you'll probably find something that isn't overly stereotyped and that you can actually enjoy.

If you want to hear what real talent sounds like, listen to Brad Paisley's new album. That's how guitar should be played.

Did you get that out with a straight face? No, really.

I won't deny that there's a few of them, but there's people making real music in other genres too. It's just not Top 40 (or even Top 100)
Nickelback themselves are a pastiche of other successful rock bands.

Instead it covers, lost stuff, lost wives and pets, american flags, trucks, trailer parks, and rednecks. YAY STEREOTYPING.

you say American flags like it's a bad thing.

I was just going to post something like this. Pop music in general sucks. Country is just one example where its pop music sucks.

Straight face, yep. :)

There's alot of great music out there. Unfortunately, country is the only place where that talent is actually mainstream.

I kinda like Shania Twain, but she ain't classic country or Texan. After following the election, I found new reasons to dislike some (emphasize some) country.

Country is where a lot of the guitar heros are at these days. I don't like country music much, but I do like the style. I incorporate hybrid picking into my guitar playing a lot--and I learned that from watching old videos of Les Paul and Chet Atkins going nuts using a pick and their bottom 3 fingers. Very cool.

I question how people can stand the shit. (pop country) Repetitive boring themes, over used steel guitar, lame lyrics + accents.

I don't think the things I listed apply to everything. Gangsta rap is also pure shit. Rock is waaaay to broad a genre.

I grew up with people who listen to it and I know way too much about it. Worst excuse for music ever.
