Perhaps you should look at the number of defensive gun use cases per year. The possibility that guns might be used to defend people from criminals might be shocking to someone like you, but is nevertheless the norm and the major reason people need to have ready access to guns.

It's true though. One of the local gun shops here was literally almost cleaned out in a day. They said they almost sold more guns that day than the previous six months combined.

They were motivated to because every liberal pundit or politician started to wave the ban flag. Many of them were first time gun buyers. Many of them were probably politically left-leaning. If the politicians and pundits would stop suggesting ludicrous measures that have no hope of doing anything, maybe this wouldn't happen.

I have never seen a run on AR-15s, magazines, and bulk ammo like this. Ever. Wow. At least some of the stuff is backorderable before prices really go up, although mags are already stupid high. Some of the sales stats I've heard in the last couple weeks is unreal. Things bumped a bit after the tragedy but went full apeshit once people started talking bans.

I would think they are overwhelmingly domestic production. Even foreign brands like Glock, SIG, and Beretta are produced domestically (though, of course, these are foreign companies). I think I've heard $30 billion economic impact (wages), $5 billion per annum in tax revenue state and federal.

As for number of gun dealers, yes, most Wal-Mart, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc. is a gun dealer. Many pawn shops also hold FFLs. Many private citizens also hold curio and relic FFLs, does that make them a dealer?

Beretta and Sig make a lot of guns in the US. Glock on the other hand, doesn't make very many in the US. Especially considering how many they make total.
