He wrote some great songs but his performances live are terrible. I thought I'd go see him perform since he was a legend and all, man what a mistake, worse show I've ever seen. It was horrible, so bad that I felt embarrassed for him.
LOL, let me guess, you saw his 1973 tour, didn't you? He's not much of a muscian and he's terribly shy at the best of times, but in THIS tour he really butchered his own songs like they'd been written by someone else and he didn't much care for them -- performing them ALL at the same hurried, flat, seemingly disinterested tempo and tone, like he was just doing it for the money (which he probably was).
However, I LIKE his voice. It suits his poetry. And, starting now if you haven't already folks, take note of how just about every serious muscian or songwriter will cite him in an interview as one of their prime influences/inspirations.
