Texas would appreciate it if you'd resist telling people like Shadow about all the jobs in Texas. If he actually moved there he'd just be even angrier and nobody wants that.

You are, of course, correct. Please accept my apology

Before posting in the future, I promise to give more consideration to unintended consequences.

So, you do want people to move to bum***k US. Texas, the 49th in education in the country, with low/lax regulations(plants explode).... this is where you want people to go and WORK for those plants? Yeah, no thanks.

Convenient that you ignored all of the non blue collar jobs that have been outsourced like crazy, including IT, courtesy of the baby boomers!

congrats, you win the award for quintessential unhappy gen y yuppie! :awe:

If you need a job, and that is where you could actually get one... Yes! You are the shining example of the Y Generation attitude. Thank you for reinforcing the argument. That is also why they suck.

I don't need a job. I've owned my own business since college you dumb fuck. The boomers outsource a shitload of jobs and then tell people to move to the middle of bumfuck to take jobs where they've gutted education, have no regulations(plants blow up), and want people to work at those plants... then, when the obvious is pointed out, they say that it is a shining example of what is wrong with "us."

Fucking old people. You've run the country into the ground just to make a few more dollars. I hope it was worth it.

LMAO!!!!! You really are dense. Did you not see "throughout the US"? We have personnel that live in all parts of the country. Texas is not the only state that has these plants I mentioned. There's quite a few in the Delaware river valley which includes the shithole of a state where you live.

So, that is your third dodge of all the non blue collar jobs outsourced...

And I love how you say to move to texas, I point out the lack of regulations making is dangerous to work there, the 2nd WORST education in the country, and being stuck with a bunch of rednecks.. and what do you do? You just ignore it and try to point in another direction. Look over there!

I'm convinced! A texas plant didn't explode because of lack of regulations! Texas isn't going into other states begging for businesses to move to texas! The education isn't the 49th in the country! Texas doesn't have the lowest uninsured rate for health insurance in the country! You aren't in bumfuck with a bunch of rednecks!

Oh, and the facts state that Texas has the largest growth rate in low wages... But who cares! Look over there!

The BP plant that exploded in Texas City was due to operators ignoring an alarm allowing it to overflow and a contractor who was in an unauthorized area with a running vehicle that ignited the gases that had collected in the area where he drove. No regulations would have prevented it.

I bet my insurance and benefits are as good if not better than yours, I'll bet I my salary is higher than yours and I don't have a degree. My children attend schools that were built in the last few years and performed above the national average.

Yet, I've been to New Jersey several times and you couldn't pay me enough to live there.

This is incredibly dishonest spin. Texas is responsible for 30% of the net new jobs created nationwide over the last ten years, it dominated the Forbes Top 10 list for “Best Cities for Future Job Growth” with 7 cities honored, and it's growing fastest in the nation for high paying jobs (greater than $16/hour).

You'd have to make two assumptions... that I am Y and that I haven't been extremely successful. Doesn't mean I have to ignore reality though.

My friend who makes $60k and is $200k in debt thinks himself a success. D:

Alot of people, total net worth wise are closing in on half a mil in debt. Success! Its such a precarious position to be in. How is he ever going to save for retirement and build up assets, my god... the stupid...

I know two pediatricians, make $80k each, combined $600k in debt on student loans not including other loans like mortgage, cars, and oh yea, credit cards B). Their combined payments are $3k a month on just education. etc. etc. etc.

and yet I still can't get myself to move there, given their draconian drug laws and overly lenient firearms policy. I mean, I love guns but texas is just O_O

How many people in Austin do you think are actually arrested for marijuana possession? The entire city would be locked up. Just don't go north into Williamson County, though.

I don't know; I wouldn't want to find out. (when compared to say, CA/WA/CO)

And yet Texas supplies 20% of the gulf coast gasoline.

The port of houston is one of the largest in the nation.

Anyone that is unemployed in Texas is not looking for a job, or they are in the wrong field.

Surrre! Whatever you say. What is it a newspaper route? If it wasn't for the "old people" you "young people" wouldn't exist. Is that how you address your parents " You Fucking Old People". They must be so proud of you.

It is kinda worth it just to watch you pop your melon in the internet! :)

Wait I just noticed something. You are from New Jersey and you are calling Texas names! New Jersey the Shit Box of the east coast. WOW!

You are from Texas.... : ).

As for your assumptions... yay for assumptions!

I lived in Virginia until I moved to Texas in 2008. The immediate pay raise from not having any state income tax was great though the 20% pay raise for taking a new position was even better. Two job positions later my salary 200% greater than what it was at the start of 2008.

During my time (1990 - 2008) working in field service I worked in 48 states, 6 Canadian provinces, and 35 countries. I know a shithole when I work in one, and New Jersey is at the top of the list.

Do you think making things up and using them as facts will accomplish something?

Old people gave birth to young people, therefore they could completely screw up the country and that is ok?

I'll list some facts again, and let's see your feeble attempt to try to refute them:

-Colleges used to be cheap and degrees meant something.
-Real estate was cheap
-Pensions were plentiful
-Boomers outsourced tons of jobs just to add a few bucks to the bottom line
-Boomers deregulated, causing catastrophes such as the gulf oil spill
-Boomers deregulated, causing the 2008 crash
-Boomers continue to war and occupy foreign countries, bankrupting the US, while gutting US infrastructure, etc.

For younger people-
-Colleges are exorbitant and are the equivalent of a high school diploma of 30 years ago
-Real estate in desirable locations are expensive(Texas is not desirable)
-Millions of jobs have been outsourced
-Pensions pretty much don't exist and retirement plans are weak, while benefits are poor
-Income has remained stagnant while productivity has sourced in the last 20 years
-healthcare costs have exploded in the last decade and a half

Feel free to attempt to address any of those. I am sorry that you are jealous of my ability to run a business and work out of my house, being my own boss. I am sorry for that old man. You had a million more opportunities than I did, and maybe you just blew it?

http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2011/06/16/246892/perry-minumum-wage-jobs/

"Additionally, Texas has by far the largest number of employees working at or below the federal minimum wage ($7.25 per hour in 2010) compared to any state, according to a BLS report. In 2010, about 550,000 Texans were working at or below minimum wage, or about 9.5 percent of all workers paid by the hour in the state. Texas tied with Mississippi for the greatest percentage of minimum wage workers…From 2007 to 2010, the number of minimum wage workers in Texas rose from 221,000 to 550,000, an increase of nearly 150 percent.
The Texas Independent added, “the median hourly earnings for all Texas workers was $11.20 per hour in 2010, compared to the national median of $12.50 per hour.”"

http://americanindependent.com/1890...ed-by-jobs-including-a-lot-of-low-paying-ones

Isn't it funny that none of you even bother to reference the fact that Texas is the 49th in the country for education? I think it is hilarious!

And again, the deregulation in Texas-

"While the explosion is still being investigated, preliminary findings have been presented to Congress. A report sent to the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee in June showed that the decades-old standards used to regulate fertilizer chemicals are far weaker than those used in other countries.

The report concluded that the safety of ammonium nitrate fertilizer storage "falls under a patchwork of U.S. regulatory standards and guidance – a patchwork that has many large holes.""
