Why don't you carry a gun?

I rode motorcycles for years. yeah i had everything from crotch rockets to street bikes.

I HATE when riders are dicks and dangerous. it makes those of us that ride safely and courteous look bad. I look for other traffic and try to act as if i'm in my car (but drive very defensively.)

only bad thing i would do is if you had a open stretch of road and 100% sure no other traffic i would open it up hehe

edit: also as a rider i wan't to say that guy should have floored it and fuck any idiot in his way. i wouldn't have stopped. fuck them

 Fuck those toolbags. I'd never ride with dickheads like that.

because you can't?

I would so fly a helicopter to work if I could.

It's impractical, Helicopters are more expensive than cars, and there's restricted air space due to airports in the area. Then there's trees by my house which I don't want to cut down.

Now, in IL, the law does appear to be changing so that "cant" may no longer be the case, but it's still impractical and unnecessary.

It might be something "cool", but, not really going to be all that useful.

oh shoot...I'm sorry I didn't notice where you lived. I got distracted thinking about flying my helicopter to work. I work right by the airport. I know for a fact that it would be legal for me to fly my helicopter to work. Landing it at home would be a challenge...but I'm sure I could figure it out.

I don't consider carrying "cool". I consider it along the lines of paying car insurance every month.

Cool may not be the best word. It would be simply not "usefull" to me. I do not go to ganglands, I do not go to bearland. I do not go to warland.

Now, If/when I decide to go hiking/camping in alaska or some place where bears are known to be active/concentrated, or if I decided I was going to go camping in a bad part of chicago, then I would carry a gun, because it would increase my survivability

I don't carry because CA won't let me, or just about anyone else for that matter. You need one hell of a convincing reason and lots of other special garbage to carry in southern ca. Nearly impossible. Only cops have guns here...OH...and criminals of course.

The thing about a gun is that you can prepare it and carry it on you for years at a time without ever needing to actually use it. Unlike a phone or a camera.

So really, there is no objectively logical need for anyone to carry a gun in a law-abiding society.

But not everyone is law-abiding...

then there is no objectively logical need for car insurance. Or home insurance. Or underwear (no really...this one bugs me)

I carry on me every where except to and from work, and when I enter a state that doesn't allow me to.

I would only use it in the situation that I was being personally robbed/attacked. If I was in a mass shooting situation, the first thing I am doing is getting the F outta there. I wouldn't try to be a hero. In the confusing situation, I'd probably be labeled as a bad guy, and worst case I would end up harming innocent people.

This is the correct response. First option should always be to flee.

If I had a holster, I would carry a banana rather than a gun. Because the banana I could eat when I got hungry, which is much more likely and realistic of a problem vs 'needing' a gun.

I have extra holsters.

PM me your address and I'll send you one.

And yes, I'm serious.

Yeah, but a gun is kind of more a consumer good akin to a phone or camera...not so much an insurance policy.

I dunno, I'd just get annoyed at the weight and heft of a gun after a while, and just start leaving at home.

did you invest in a good belt?

I felt the same way before I got an actual belt meant for carrying. It made a huge difference.
