GTX 275 - HD4870
GTX 470 - HD5870
GTX 570 - HD6970
GTX 670 - HD7970

Why cant ATI/AMD make a card that competes with Nvidia?

I am only going to say this once, so listen closely.

In spite of what has transpired so far, this is fundamentally a reasonable discussion. Therefore I am going to allow it.

However from this post on, if ANYONE trolls, posts another image macro, accuses someone else of trolling, or otherwise is a jerk, then they get a vacation. You know how to behave, so I expect you can live up to our rules.

Capiche?

Please do a search for the various threads about GTX 670 vs 7950 or 7970 and you'll see tons of info and numbers along with opinion. The GTX 670 doesn't flat out beat the 7970 nor does the 7970 flat out beat the 670.

I didnt mean beat, but they compete with eachother.

A $400 GTX 670 is not "midrange" -- a $2xx GTX-560 448 is midrange.

None of those nvidia cards were "midrange", they were all high-end, just not top of the line.

Did you seriously put GTX 470 - HD5870? You should study up on that one, specifically pertaining to release dates.

AMD has released first the last couple of generations. They set the goal for nvidia to kick the field goals. They tend to be in the lead at least till nvidia launches.

I laughed.

Especially since you have no ides what you are talking about. Link me to an HD5990, i would love to get one or two. And apparently the GTX 590 never existed?

I didn't meant to suggest that. My point was that AMD's flagships obviously weren't competing with Nvidia's midrange. The 5970 did not compete with the GTX460 - which is your claim.

*edit - 5970, not 5990... brain fart on my part.

470 and 5870 are pretty close in DX10 and below.

470 walks over the 5870 even at stock in modern titles like BF3 and BMAC, I'd also take a 470 over a 5870 when it comes to overclocking, the 5870 was gimped by a hard lock on power and no powertune.

5970 vs ?

6990 vs ?

AMD must not have sent you the new memo, dual gpu cards don't matter, it's all about vaporware single cards.
