Maybe is computer gaming looking weird for console players, but who tries, never go back to consoles. It has some kind of magic inside and I would never change my computer for console, maximally to buy side console for games that i can't play on computer.

People are still answering this thread? Roflmao. Do you realize the OP hasn't been here after the first post?

Why does a PC gaming vs console gaming discussion have to do with just the OP's points? Members are creating some other points worthy of continued discussion.

their repeating points actually. There isn't much new at all to say. It is what it is. PC gamers are jealous that consoles become development leads and have the most exclusives. They feel like their getting shafted from high end hardware potential due to "ports" (incorrectly termed for most game engines) all while playing thier games and complaining how "consolized" they are and discussing nothing much more than bugs and how *** didn't live up to all their expectations.
PC only gamers are dreamers more than anything cause discussing this to death won't change a thing. Both sides can have valid points but their nothing more in reality than text on a screen. games are entertainment and exist for fun, regardless how one chooses to experience that.

I think before people answer this question they should be required to play for a while on both formats lol

seeing better looking graphics won't change anything. Both platforms have their plus and minuses. Don't ignore the preferences of those who want to xbox live with their buddies and rent most of their games..etc.

I think PC gaming biggest strength is its flexibility; to adapt and evolve. There is plenty of room for consoles and PC's. Have fun!:)

The reason for people choosing a console to play their games over a PC is not for you to judge.
As far as graphics, most people don't give a crap so long as their fun to play.

So ok, you obviously hate people who choose a console. so what? is that suppose to bend reality or something?

I'm just saying that people should reconsider their choices from "should I choose ps3 or 360" to "should I choose ps3, 360, or PC". If you spend lots of time on your gaming system, why not get the one with the highest quality? Its like a mechanic choosing between snapon tools and some cheap brand from the dollar store.

Btw. I tried playing resistance 2 after playing left 4 dead 2 on my pc. Couldnt. The horribly blurry images on my tv looked archaic. I swear I was playing a mod for half life 1. Also, why are people buying archaic graphics cards and processors aka the game console for a price, which is much higher than what the hardware is worth?

Its not all about graphics on pc. Its about the community, the user created content, the mods, and the ability to look at each and every possible corner of the game and analyze how and why they made whatever as it is (no clip ftw!)

There is NO reason why MGS4 isnt on xbox 360 or PC.
There is NO reason why Gears of War 3 isnt on ps3 or PC.
Shut up. We gave you Crysis 1 and 2 and Battlefield 3. We even gave you guys Call of Duty!
Now pitch in to the gaming community you consolites!

And not a single PC game is going to come close to selling 5 million units this *year*. The latest CoD did more then that in a *day* on the consoles. PCs could have an installed base in the hundreds of trillions, doesn't change the fact that they don't buy many games. If you break it down using numbers you quote, console gamers buy more games then PC gamers by a more then 10:1 ration. If you are a game developer, what do you care about? The platform G has a 100 trillion installed base while platform H only has 1 million, or that you sold 1 million games on platform H and 15,000 on platform G?
Xbox 360
Halo 3 (14.5 million

Nintendo
Super Mario Bros. (40.24 million)

Wii
Wii Sports (76.76 million)

PlayStation 3
Gran Turismo 5 (6.37 million)

PC
The Sims (16 million shipped)

Stop blaming pirates if they make a game thats crap and is not intended for all on a platform. The PS 2 games were still pirates fair game and it sold more than games on the PS3.

Look at the Wii numbers. Why dont they move the wii only since wii are outselling everything almost 10 to 1?
I mean you develop a game for 1 platform. So you already spend the cash developing it and so on will it make you bankrupt porting the game to pc? No
If they make games that falls in the satisfaction area of 99 percent of the PC gamers then they will buy it. But dont release crappy console ports and expect it to sell

I'm just saying that people should reconsider their choices from "should I choose ps3 or 360" to "should I choose ps3, 360, or PC".

uhh...real gamers choose both. However keep in mind that consoles and PC's have completely different marketing and niche's. You won't find a Dell with a gamepad, wrapped in a tight box with cool gaming marketing buzzwords inside a glass cabinet at Bestbuy or Walmart. Along with TV commercials and dedicated peripherals with games that adhere to standards and "quality control" concepts. Cause that is what it would take to get the mass consumers to reconsider their choices and change perceptions.

See i'm typical of what you would call a hardcore gamer I have Ps3 and PC connected to same monitor. Xbox360 and Wii in the living room. Ipad, phone and PSP for portable uses. Older consoles in closet in standby for nostalgic uses.
Some of you may come to these tech forums, discuss and think nothing else other than PC games and its hardware superiority thats rarely even utilized, but their not hardcore, their just biased, stubborn and whiny about it. They are a smaller percentage of the mass market and resent it.

I concede you will not find many PC games with quality control with few exceptions (ex: SC2), they are released in early beta... However, the last console to have QC was the PS2.
Current gen consoles all have internet patching and are released just as buggy. Latest example is skyrim which is buggy to the point of unplayability. On Xbox360 and PS3 all you can do is wait for the patch. I just installed my 2nd community patch that fixes a critical issue
http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Esbern_(Skyrim)
Which breaks the main plotline... While the console users have to wait weeks for the official patch to finish validating.

Cause that is what it would take to get the mass consumers to reconsider their choices and change perceptions.
You mean, how the PC is currently the fastest growing platform and, if trends continue will surpass all other consoles combined? Not a single console can touch the PC one on one. They are always arbitrarily united. PS3 and Xbox360 and Wii fans will tear each other apart... until PC comes into the room and suddenly consoles are one big happy family that surpasses the PC when put together.

Why not lump together xbox360 and WinPC to stand united against the PS3, and seperate from it the Wii? WinPC and xbox360 are both MS, both have "live" brand, both use directX, and my xbox360 controller works with both, oh and I can connect my PC to my TV/projector... My xbox360 gamertag works for PC games which use MS windows live, like assassin creed.

I concede you will ...blah, irrelvant, blah, blah

point out whatever you wishYou can't debate reality. It has not and does not change anything.
>You will not be seeing games like Uncharted for PC.
>Consoles still take lead development for most big games.
>Your still gonna see games forcing installs of services like Origin..etc.
>You'll never beable to rent PC games.
>You'll never have the resale value of console games
>Your unlikely to see VOIP get the use it should in MP
>Your not going to see expensive, high end hardware get utilized completely.
>Your never going to see brands like Alienware compete in that mass market.

So what, do you think i hate PC gaming or something?
Do you think i enjoy consoles taking lead development? Do you think i wouldn't love for Sony and MS to ban together with PC's high end hardware and see such hardware in every living room? Whats the point of trying to sell me PC's finest points? Thats why i get all the platforms and choose the games i want for which is best or available.
I just don't publically resent it, i don't bitch about what i have no control of, i don't boycott something i might enjoy just cause its not El1t3 nor do prevent myself from having an open mind and enjoying whats made available to me.

now excuse me while i go get my speed fix playing Wipeout HD as i wait for my paypal confirmation for the $42 i just made from selling Uncharted 3 on ebay that i already finished and enjoyed very much. you can read this thread while i do that

Excuse me, every single claim you made was false.
i countered each one by giving you a link. except for the qc where i pointed out that while its true pcs don't have any qc, the claim that consoles do is false for anything newer than a ps2.

Enjoy it while you can. If you think the publishing industry doesn't abhor renting/resale, then you are deluding yourself. There are already measures taken to make sure used game buyers pony up some cash for 'online services'. It's a matter of time before you won't be able to buy/rent console games.

The idea of making large portions of a game as purchasable DLC only had been discussed in the gaming industry. Sell the game for less, let people rent or buy used, but when they log onto Xbox live they need to purchase the majority if not all of the online playable content. COD for example if you bought it used you could play the campaign, if you want to log into xbox live and play multiplayer, you need to purchase it separately for YOUR gamer tag.

With the majority of smaller studios bought out and now owned by EA or Activision, it wouldn't be that hard to shift to a strategy similar to above, a large number of titles could do it simultaneously. The public will either go for it because they have no choice, or boycott nearly every major game release all at once.

when i did most of my gaming on a PC back in the 80s/90s, there were new titles left and right.

1. Install Steam

2. Annoying pop ups when you log in showing you new titles left, right, centre, ceiling; would you look at that on the floor too!

3. Buy games

4. Play games

5. Play same games on laptop on the go

6. Get bored, install mods

Oh and I forgot to mention how awesome emulators are for playing old console games! Try doing that on your Xbox. Or typing anything for that matter.

i got most of all the 16 and 8 bit consoles on my PSP....well, before it got stolen. i loved its convenience. Dreamcast has some emu's designed for it too.
MAME i'll usually play on desktop with my arcade stick. but hell they make emu's for most everything.
I even had a few on my old Dell Axim PDA.
typing..well connect a keyboard. I even have a KB for my old Dreamcast system too, but havnt hooked it up in many, many years.

but my point is that you can. However you are also speculating. Its impossible to predict how the gaming industry will change. We could all be using something like Onlive for all we know

so its still an irrelevant and moot issue to bring up for a debate. We live in the present, not the future. so i don't see any reason to not enjoy all the aspects of gaming instead of limiting yourself to a PC just cause you have some kind of resentment or bias. If you do then its fine, but so is others who game only on a console or the others like me who do both. Hell i even game on my Cell phone. No point in debating preferences.

its like being on Home Improvement...you get to tweak the PC to your liking, and do the grunts when you get the right combination on your PC that makes your games work that much better. Do i get mad at the console ppl b/c of some of the games they get? i sure do. I almost bought a PS2 b/c of the Revenge of the Sith game. I used to be able to say, well, once you stop playing on a console, you cant go check your email or get on the net...now those lines are blurring. But, i've been tinkering with PC's in one form or another since i was about 13 and had a Commodore VIC 20..with the old tape recorder for storage (anyone remember those?)...

because I can install the game twice before you can do a 180 on your XBox?

And honestly its far better to play with a keyboard/mouse for FPS games? Plus better graphics on PC? It's elitist gaming.

Well I don't want to be LOW HARDCORES!
I don't even know what that meant (though Id and Epic, at the least, allowed PCs to beat the consoles to the mark of pro FPS gamer; IIRC, Quake tournaments were the first serious instances of such a thing; and of course, SS:Tribes >> Halo).
