You really need to open your eyes. Atheists don't hate god. They simply don't believe it exists. Just like how you don't hate Zeus, Dionysus, Hermes, etc - you just think they're fiction.

Did you think I was talking about faith in God as defined by the Fundamentalists, where you have to believe that God exists in a precise and specific fashion? Hardly. One way or another, everyone believes. Either that, or they don't believe in (and likely hate) themselves and others. They may not call what they believe God per se, but if they believe in love and righteousness, and extend that belief to love others and to be righteous, then they do believe in and have faith in the Christian God, because His Name is love and righteous, and none other.

This is why, in Matthew 7:21, Christ says: "Not everyone who says to me, ?Lord, Lord,? will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."

When seeking to understand the true nature of God and faith, I believe that it is important to religious that not eveyone who claims to believe will be saved, and not everyone who does not do as the priest says they should do will be damned. And that the Bible even says as much.

I'm sure you realize then that your definitions are WAY out there. If you're going to change what words mean then it'd be helpful to say that at the beginning.

Are you saying that because I love my mom that means I believe in the Christian god?

Slightly off topic, I believe that the true nature of God is that He is apart of us and we are apart of Him. That a part of God exists (or is capable of existing) in each one of us. This is NOT a "New Age" religious concept. Let me call your attention to Matthew 22:36-40, otherwise known as the "Greatest Commandment".

37 Jesus replied: ? ?Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.?
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like it: ?Love your neighbor as yourself.?
40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.?

Translated:
Love yourself and all about yourself that is righteous and good as best you can.
Love everyone other person the exact same way you love that righteous part of yourself.
Everything else the religious preachers teach you or tell you that you must do is bullsh!t commentary.

There's a reason why it was the priests who killed Christ. Here's a clue, that they did is very likely why you, Red, don't like the "Fund-A-Mentals".

1. there is only one God, but the Bible itself declares his only and true name (read Psalm 83:18). God will not respond to prayers made to any other name, hence why "let your name be sanctified" is part of the Lord's prayer...

2. The holy spirit is God's active force... God lends portions of it to faithful believers who ask for it in prayer. It is not a person and it does not have a name.

3. God is an entity, separate from man. He is a spirit, no man can see him, but he is not 'inside' anyone, otherwise he would die with each human that dies. makes sense, no?

4. Your translation of Matthew 22:36-40 has merit, but we should not overlook our love for our creator, for it is that love that fosters obedience to his commandments.

Moses did not part the Red Sea by himself, so that "God is inside you" stuff doesn't, pardon the pun, hold water...

Well RD I look at this way, I can't be a convicted as hypocrite before God anymore because he doesn't exist. So I am just going to go for it. This beast has been wanting to get out for quite sometime. And the black stuff don't matter anymore, because now that I am a new man, you have no idea what I am going to say about white people. Man this no conviction, free license to destroy feeling is great.

I have to admit that there are a LOT of christians out there who follow God blindly

Why blindly? Because they have been taught/told what to believe...but they have haven't quite found God. They just go through the motions. Some do find GOD though.

Then there are those who are not blind and believe in GOD because they WANT TO. They seem to be the folks who know how to pray the best and realize how God affects their lives.

I was blindly following GOD till a friend had a fun time destroying the foundation I had of my faith.

I actually did not go to church very often.

Then eventually I found GOD. Ever since then, been a very active Church goer. Not going because it's something I "have" to do (like the first 20 years of my childhood) but because i WANT to.

Does this make any sense?
