They may not call what they believe God per se, but if they believe in love and righteousness, and extend that belief to love others and to be righteous, then they do believe in and have faith in the Christian God, because His Name is love and righteous, and none other.Originally posted by: DougK62
Oh, Vic. Please don't bring out that tired argument. There are TONS of people that do not believe in your god or any other god. And that's true. Your phrase "there are no atheists in foxholes" is just flat out WRONG. My father and grandfather were both medical personnel in wars (Vietnam, WWII) and they'll both tell you that the death bed conversion is laughable. Sure it happens, but in very few numbers. I worked at a hospital for years and my job required me to witness slow deaths of a countless number of people. I don't recall a single person doing the death bed conversion deal.
Really, that point is weak and mostly fiction.
You really need to open your eyes. Atheists don't hate god. They simply don't believe it exists. Just like how you don't hate Zeus, Dionysus, Hermes, etc - you just think they're fiction.
This is why, in Matthew 7:21, Christ says: "Not everyone who says to me, ?Lord, Lord,? will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."
When seeking to understand the true nature of God and faith, I believe that it is important to religious that not eveyone who claims to believe will be saved, and not everyone who does not do as the priest says they should do will be damned. And that the Bible even says as much.
I'm sure you realize then that your definitions are WAY out there. If you're going to change what words mean then it'd be helpful to say that at the beginning.
Are you saying that because I love my mom that means I believe in the Christian god?
