That is the idea race condition, given the same car, who can drive faster :awe:

True if maybe there were twisties involved but here in FL a twistie is something you roll up when you get home, most roads are flat and straight and both cars only come with a 4 speed auto..

Florida has a ton of tracks.

You are the one attracting ricers at many stop lights.

I just can't seem to follow your logic. I attract ricers by idling at stoplights?

I'd blame it on being early but I've come to realize that you're pretty stupid. Oh well.

lolz...so they are just targetting Passats?

Probably not. I would say the more rational explanation would be that these guys had just gotten off work late at night (like me) and were looking for a little fun on the way home. Pretty simple, eh?

still don't get doing the 'vette thing. Unless you know that routine and missed the 70's car growing up.

Most will just say Vette or Corvette or the series.

"I let the S5 rip at a stoplight just to see what it could do, then I dropped my grandkids at Chuck E Cheese and I hit the strip."

Next time you test drive a 70something thousand AWD sports coupe try driving the entire time at 45 mph, give me a break.

Some people don't know the difference between driving sensibly in traffic and not being a douche bag versus opening it up and letting it rip when the opportunity presents itself.

Seriously, I don't hoon my TDI because well.....that would just be retarded. But if you're giving me the keys to something like that, expect me to unleash the taps when its safe enough to do so. To not do just that would be an injustice to everyone who engineered and built the thing.

Highly unlikely that some punk kid with a backwards baseball cap financing a $1500 primered beater of a car with the kind of attitude it takes to flip someone off for not wanting to race, is going to be plonking down $3k+ cash for a B18 much less the actual swap. Like I said I bet he had little more than a K&N, an Autozone cherry bomb special, and a boost gauge that never comes off the stop peg. Cars with actual swaps that are actually fast are done by people with a bit more sense and respect and who know it's going to cost more than the car is ever worth, not aspiring Fast and Furious boy racers.

Haha, I've had three friends put money into those little things. A b16 and 2 b18s. $3,500 for a very used engine that makes 180 horsepower and no torque! Woooooo! Yeah, they each put over ten grand down into trying to make those things fast and ended up with unreliable 16 second cars that get 10-15mpg that either had terrible brakes and/or a terrible frame to deal with. Because one upgraded the brakes... but was still dead slow and blowing through gas like crazy.

I still don't understand the mentality. Personally I would have done a lot of research and learning before deciding on a project's worth. But they don't seem to do that at all. They could just pick up an Accord and it will whip the civic + "upgrades" and cost less in money and time.

I'll just stick with my bike and commuter civic. The bike is absolutely a blast to ride, even though it doesn't sound nearly as good as a beefed up sports car, although between 8-12k rpm it does sound a bit like music. The civic on the other hand is the barest of the bare (01 w/ 140k mi). Oh, and the bike costs a shitload less than a car and could decimate most anything besides a true sports car.

If I pull up next to a nice car though (one of those beefy V8s) I'll give the bike a little gas just to hear the car sing.

I get people trying to race me in my '79 Monte Carlo sometimes. It's pretty laughable, because the stock 267 engine has a whopping 125 hp! Even if it were fast, I baby the car and wouldn't race anybody.

I get all sorts trying to race me on my bike. On the entrance ramp to the freeway yesterday morning some dude in a Mercedes convertible (CLK I think) decided he just HAD to be in front of me as we were both accelerating up the on ramp so I just twisted my wrist and left him quickly disappearing in my rear view mirror.
