Not outside of the cooking vernacular.

the article was clearly an onion-like attempt at poking fun with the second part of 'vinegar,' which is fairly close to an n-bomb. there is no use outside of the cooking vernacular*

*white vinegar's sole use is in cleaning so that's not quite true

Why do you have bring white vinegar into it? Are you trying to say blacks aren't clean? Racist.

You know, life is funny. Sometimes you find yourself doing things you never ever thought you would. This is one of those times. I'm about to come to Dave's defense.

There is a possibility that the vinegar was mistakenly coded to require a restricted access form. The cashier, not giving a damn, just went along with the flow. For all we know, she then later asked her boss why all the fuss over vinegar and that's when the error was corrected.
Anybody else would get the benefit of the doubt, but Dave has zero--truly zero--credibility and has truly earned that over the years, which is why the default response is that he's lying. Or, more accurately, saying something that isn't true. I don't think he is lying because he doesn't understand what it is and lying requires intent.

I know, believe me, I know.

I think I was just having one of those emo moments. :) I hope I can still hang on to my man card.

Well OBVIOUSLY the restricted notice didn't come up on effowe's purchase of the vinegar because he bought it together with a bottle of olive oil. Everyone knows this.

The experiment must be repeated exactly! So now we must know the exact list of items dave purchased that day. Therein lies the key!

Why do have to sign restricted access form to buy Vinegar?

Went shopping yesterday ahead of the blizzard here in Chicago and picked up some Olive Oil and Vinegar for salad at the grocery and they asked for my ID, scanned it and made me sign a "Restricted Access Form" to buy the vinegar.

Experiment was replicated.

Yes, she said it was for the Vinegar. I asked her since when? She just said because it popped up on the computer. I read the form quick enough that I saw it was the same restricted access form as when buying cold medicine.
Maybe it was a mistake and it was for cold medicine even if you didn't buy any?

Not with 100% accuracy. You need to put on about 275lbs and then go back to the store to try again.
Dave's a fatty? Do we have pics of him?
Check his web site for photos

Also, if there was a problem, by ATOT following up on it, they may have corrected it. Which could explain why the experiment cannot be replicated - the environment has been contaminated

Ah yes, the old measurement problem. The act of observing the system inevitably changes it. This is applied quantum mechanics people!

Only thing I can think of is it is undiluted vinegar, but why a grocery store would sell vinegar that dissolve the salad, would kind of defeat the purpose.
