Only idiots don't wear a seatbelt [/thread]

Why? Seriously. This "perceived" danger of not wearing a seatbelt is nonesense. It's all scare tactics.

Please tell that to my aunt who died in a car wreck simply because she wasn't wearing a seatbelt. :|

Now kindly STFU.

He's clearly trolling and you guys are giving him exactly what he wants.

I realised that after I made that post.
I broke rules 1 and 2.
1. Don't feed the trolls.
2. Don't argue with an idiot, he will only bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

You should, of course, be free not to wear one if you don't want to, but what about others who might actually believe you? What if a child heard what you said, didn't wear a seatbelt, and went through the front window of a car - how would you feel?

What I'm saying is, danger is relative.

Is NOT wearing a seatbelt (when doing so was legal) one of the most dangerous things you could legally do? Is that why they made it legal?

You have to compare it to everything that's already legal. We're allowed to do things MUCH more dangerous than wear seatbelts, yet because of some new age "safety" fad, we have to wear seatbelts.

All danger is relative.

JL Gatsby, please refrain from wearing your seatbelt. Hopefully Darwin's law will come into effect.

Effing retard.

perceived danger?

I have a project for you. find articles or police reports about car wrecks. Separate the victoms by seatbelt wearers and non-seatbelt wearers. Compare the injuries. then tell me there still a perceived danger.

I promise I'm not trolling and if I had the means, I would lobby against seatbelt laws.

I'm sorry about to hear about that accident, I really am..

Consider this. In my family, alcoholism is the norm. Since literally the late 1800s my relatives and ancestors have been destroyed by alcoholism. Lives, money, time, relationships, all lost because of alcohol. Very few in my family have made it past the age of 70 because of alcohol, only the few who weren't drinkers lived long lives.

But should we make alcohol illegal? Is that really the solution? Just ban everything? Do you see me trying to ban it? No. It was their choice to drink. Everyone has got to make choices, but no one has the right to make choices for others. I choose not to drink, ever. And it's my choice. But I won't tell others how to live.

this is why they require you to wear one: for the safety of others, if you get ejected from your car in an accident and hit someone with your flying body possibly killing them, is it really their fault they are injured or dead? the government is trying to protect the public from idiots by making stuff illegal for a reason.

Errr, yes... Why do _you_ think they made it illegal?

Like what? Getting drunk and going skydiving? Yea but that's fun isn't it - there's an advantage to it. There is no advantage to not wearing a seatbelt.

LMAO! I've never even heard of that happening before.

Your body will not fly out and kill someone. LMAO!

That's seriously the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Well... If you're going to be doing all of that at the same time you probably should be wearing a seat belt. ;)

Because it's a "safety" fad!

It's sparked by these overprotective 21st century parents.

I see kids these days wearing HELMETS while riding their bikes. Like a whole group of kids, like 10 and 12 years old, wearing helmets.

15 years ago, when I was riding my bike as a kid, if you rolled up wearing a helmet to your friends, they would have taken that helmet off and beaten you with it.

There is an overobsessive culture of safety

Nobody cares if you get into an accident and kill yourself.

The law is in place to protect everyone else from your carcass as it goes flying through the windwhield.

You ever been in a rollover accident? You ever seen videos of people being ejected from cars? Seen those police videos before? Even in motorsport races the driver can be ejected, but those kinds of crashes are at a much higher speed.

I think that until you can legally drive a car (16 in America) you MUST wear a seatbelt. Seeing how not wearing a seatbelt is only possibly harmful to yourself, I think that people should be free to wear or not wear a seatbelt, but if they have an accident and did not wear a seatbelt, insurance shouldn't cover the medical fees.

Yeah people get ejected from cars all the time. But their bodies do not fly out, hit someone else, and kill an innocent bystander standing on the corner. That sounds like a string of events from a cartoon.

Your body will not smack into someone on the street and kill them. Seriously that's stupid to even think that.

This is actually correct. While killing someone after being ejected is less likely, the biggest danger is to passengers within the vehicle. People have been killed and/or seriously injured from both instances, though. If you want the video posted earlier in this thread you can see what happens. Keep in mind that's a SLOW rollover and much less violent that a high impact or high speed rollover would be.

How old are you? Do you have no common sense at all?

The odds of getting hit by a flying human body is about the same as shooting a bullet straight in the air and it coming down and hitting someone in the head, killing them.

The odds of your body hitting someone is so astronomical it's laughable. I mean seriously, like literally one in a million. I doubt if it's even happened before.

You're the one with no common sense.

No wonder someone made that plugin for FF to ignore your posts, I think I'll go download that now.
