chess9 - Before you start tossing around allegations of racial prejudice, research what happened. The Democrats themselves messed up their instructions on how to vote in Duval County.

I don't think anyone is trying to steal anything in this election (at least in regard to the court actions). Both parties are exercising their rights under Florida Law.

Michael:

I hadn't heard that the African Americans in Duval County were disenfranchised by the Democratic Party. :p

Perhaps you have a link?

Best post of the Day!

It just gets more and more interesting.....

Stay tuned....I continue to predict appeals all the way to the Supreme Court....Neither Party wants to give up easily.

Yes, I heard that. Great news for Dems.

Although I will be pleased if Gore wins, I will repeat my view that this is certainly a Pyrrhic victory for either one.

Well it remains to be seen how many votes Gore will gain (common feeling is that it will be enough).

And....the Florida Supreme Court will have to rule that the manual votes can be added to the totals of last Tuesday.

And....there may be more appeals....

Here's the link - from the NY Times which no one will accuse of being "right wing"

Democrats mess up their own votes

You have to join (free) the NY Times website to read it:

Rodney G. Gregory, a lawyer for the Democrats in Duval County, said the party shared the blame for the confusion. Mr. Gregory said Democratic Party workers instructed voters, many persuaded to go to the polls for the first time, to cast ballots in every race and "be sure to punch a hole on every page."

"The get-out-the vote folks messed it up," Mr. Gregory said ruefully.

If Mr. Gregory's assessment is correct, and thousands of Gore supporters were inadvertently misled into invalidating their ballots, this county alone would have been enough to give Mr. Gore the electoral votes of Florida, and thus the White House.

The voters turned out by Democrats, Mr. Gregory said, took the instructions to vote in every race to mean: "I've got to vote for Gore. I've got to be sure Bush doesn't get elected. I've got to vote on every page."

Democratic officials, Mr. Gregory said, should have told voters they were bringing to the polls. Vote for Gore, then skip the next page.

"In hindsight," he said, "we didn't fully understand the problem. "

You're playing the race card a little early here ...

The fact that the Miami-Dade Canvassing Board just reversed itself makes it crystal clear to all but the Bore apologists that this election is rigged. Any thinking person can see the handwriting on the wall. If the democrats actually get away with this, it will be the theft of the century.

You liberals should be very proud of your pappa.

An Independent's biased perspective:

They're counting because Democrats can find ballot holes only by committee because so many of them can't find the holes for themselves: Remedial Voting 101.

Gore makes them count because eight years of skeletons in the White House's closets are at risk of being exposed, and Clinton needs Gore to pardon him so as to be protected from prosecution after Jan 20.

They count because it's easier to usurp than it is to earn.

This may be the political equivalent of Pearl Harbor: a preemptive attack by the Democrats that wins them the White house by blatant subterfuge that so insultingly kicks the sleeping Republican-voting machine that it forces the Republican moderates to join with the Right Wing crazies to blast the Dem's out of the House, Senate and White House during the following election cycles 2,4 & 6 years hence.

The cries of the Dem's will then fall on deaf ears as the Repub's repay the favor with equal, self-serving zeal.

Then more than the Democrats will be the losers since not all of us are Democrats or Republicans.

What a bunch of losers.

>>>You liberals should be very proud of your pappa<<<

They are and rightly so.

And you should be ashamed of your mamma (KH) trying to STEAL the election by certifying the votes a week ahead of the time it required. Funny, that lie didn't get exposed until late today, huh?

This isn't the first Canvassing Board that reversed itself. There have been conflicting opinions and rulings about whether there should be manual recounts, and the Canvassing Boards (or at least some of them) have been trying to follow "the ruling of the day".

As others have pointed out, the Democrats are just trying to get manual recounts included in the election results. If the tables were reversed, I'm sure the Republicans would be trying to do everything they could to legally get the election to go their way.

Michael:

It's never to early to play the race card, unless its an ace. :p

Apparently what happened was the people did not have an actual real live living breathing legitimate SAMPLE BALLOT to show to people. Of course, the Republicans are at fault. :p

Yeah, looks like some stupidity by the African American community helped contribute to the problem.

Is that the first time you've been right in your life? :p j/k

Pop quiz for you Bore apologists:

Q. Why does it take an estimate six days in Palm County to do a manual recount, but an estimated MONTH in Miami-Dade when there is only 25% more votes to tabulate?

A. Because that would keep the Florida results from being certified until it was too late to be included in the Electoral Vollege vote December 18th.

It's astonishing how people who might be considered of normal intelligence can suddenly become so incapable of seeing the truth.

chess9,

Nice try. I'm at work. There is no TV here. And, as I've said before, the only site I regularly visit is CNN. Perhaps you need the aid of the talking heads to help form your opinions. I don't.

UG:

Nah, he doesn't take politics that seriously. <2,000 people roll on floor laughing>

Anyway, I'm just having fun. Most of my friends are Republicans. I call them right wing wackos to their faces all the time. We had dinner with some fundamentalist Christians two nights ago and they prayed Bush would win the election. At the end I said: "God, please ignore the political commercial." :p

We all know that developments in computer technology are far more important than politics. Particularly this year. :p

I'm not kidding.

You probably know the answer, Miami-Dade needs to rethink this and get come more ballot counters. This MUST be completed by December 18. I'm sure the Florida Supreme Court, even if it allows these manual counts will rule for a deadline BEFORE December 18.

Americans WON'T stand for Gore to win, just because Florida didn't get finished. I WON'T, and I don't think GORE who says "I want to see all the votes counted" does either.

James Baker, before the camaras to make his announcement, sends his suragate out firstto make sure no one from the press asks any questions, and with his lips pursed,he uttered what most would say a bitter disdain and disappointment from the rulings of both the Florida Supreme Court, and the 11th Circuit court of Appeals in Georgia. I think they see the handwriting on the wall. THEY ARE LOSING,both in the ligitament count of the votes and in the legal courts, as well as the court of public opinion.

MuWaHaHaHaHaHa;):D:D:p:p:p

Come on Bush opoligists, run it down! You know you lost this. After 2/3 of counties reporting absentee, where is the landslide you were expecting? Bush has a net 149 gain on 52 of 67 counties for a total of 449 over Gore. When the re count in Palm Beach alone is done, that will put Gore over the top. Miami/Dade and Broward are the frosting on the cake!

No shanigans here either. Republicans and Democrates are reviewing jointly every ballot. The will of the people WILL take precedence over expediency for the sake of partison wrangling.

I find it quite amazing that the Shrub supporters here are so quick to claim Gore Dems are stealing the election, when it was so obvious that Harris and the GOP bunch where desperate to close all this up like a "hurry up to the scrimmage and hike before the refs find out you commited a foul." And now the big bad judges just spoiled your party.

Boo hoo! :D

Remember folks, dimples count...

Democratic Poll Worker - Is this (presses stencil into empty Gore bubble and makes an indention, acting as if to point it out) a vote for Gore?
Another Democratic Poll Worker - Now it is. Muhahahahaha!!!

Why did the rest of Florida even bother to vote?

This situation has reached an all-time low at this point. Folks, we are witnessing the crime of the century as Russ pointed out. Bend over, here it comes.
