I reckon it's because they're so afraid others will think they are like that themselves if they don't gay-bash.
Pathetic really.

Who cares? I am fine with gays so could care less of the opinions of others on this heated subject. As long as your comfortable with your own belief, screw everyone else.

OP... Could you quote something from that other thread where someone said that they are afraid of homosexuals? I think too often people see someone who doesn't agree with homosexuality and instantly label them as "phobic". It's really weird. If people disagree with other lifestyles they don't get instantly labelled as "phobic" or "bigotted".

It's like saying "Why are people so afraid of believing in God?". It may be that they don't believe "God" to be real, or think that organized religion is evil or whatever, but that doesn't make them "afraid" of believing, it just means that they have a different viewpoint.

Yes of course, because everyone lives in their own little bubble and doesn't affect anyone around them.

yeah need to mature some, learn to care a lot less about people other than you (not in the unconsiderate/selfish way of thinking)

It's because these gays are trying to infiltrate society by teaching our children how to be gay in schools, because gays decide to parade around disrupting society, and because gays are trying to destroy society by forcing the government to condone and reward sick behavior.

I am very afraid for the future of this country.

Who is afraid of gays? I am not sure if this question is directed to certain ppl.. or if it meant to express that anyone who is not gay must be afraid of them.

The pro-everything liberal crowd needs everyone who does not jump up and down at how wonderful gays are to be "afraid" of them. That is their only weapon. They can't take any kind of constructive reasoning why some people don't condone the gay lifestyle or why some people who are not gay don't necessarily like their political agenda because they have no rebuttal but "you sir are a homophobe". They have no respect for anyone's beliefs but their own. Kind of ironic actually. My only real problem with the whole issue is constantly having stuff shoved down my throat which will eventually have a detrimental impact on just about anyone's opinion. The more people protest and scream, the less I care about their position.

If you're asking why people don't all uniformly welcome the gay lifestyle as a valid and wholesome alternative that is entirely different from the words you used in the OP.

well, if that is the case, then I am very comfortable saying that I am not afraid of gays. I am not a supporter of the gay lifestlye. But as long as it is ok not to be pro, i have no problem with anyone who is pro. I think ... well, I think that whatever goes on in the privacy of someone's bedroom... as long as they are two consenting adults... is no one else's business but their own. However, if anyone wants to take what goes on in their bedroom and make it a social issue in my living room... that forces me to take a side. And I dont take the pro side. I would like to be NON-Pro... but according to what you stated in your post... NON-PRO automatically equals strong ANTI... which I would prefer not to be.... but I am not PRO.

Because people seem to think that being gay means you can't keep your hands to yourself.

I guess if you demonize someone's POV then you feel you have won the arguement? I don't care one way or another and I have known gay people and can hang out with them when the circumstances warrant it but I choose not to be around gay people for the most part....but that does not mean I am afraid of them, I simply have NOTHING in common with them.

What about the gay nerds on ATOT (who are into computers, anandtech, neffing on ATOT) - you don't have anything in common with them? Saying you don't have anything in common with gay people is about as ridiculous as saying you don't have anything in common with women, or asian people. Of course you have at least some things in common with some gay people, simply by virtue of the fact you are both members of the human race. I think it would be interesting if you could give an honest answer as to why you prefer not to be around gay people. Saying you don't have anything in common with them seems like a totally bogus reason to me. I would guess either gay people make you feel uncomfortable for whatever reason, or alternatively, you just don't like gay people. Why do you dislike gay people (or, why do you feel uncomfortable in the presence of gay people), to the point where you would make ridiculous sweeping statements like "I have nothing in common with gay people"?
