Why are Jewish people normally so successful?

Jews have overcome discrimination and hardship and have risen out of poverty in the last 2 centuries. Open a history book.

"Inheritance" is not a valid argument. Every family started somewhere. No one has been wealthy since the stone age. Someone made a bold move. Poor people love to use a lack of inheritance as a excuse as to why they're not wealthy.
Just not a history book from Texas. :colbert:

Your link is racist because it promote one race over another. History, is written by the winner and is bias so as science discoveries, etc...

Not long ago the Nazi labeled the Jews as untermensch, apartheid South Africa sees blacks as kaffirs (infidels), British whites considered Indians and African are slave, Australian whites considered themselves as the master race over that of the bushman, and European whites considered themselves to be superior over that of the American Native.

IMHO, given the same education, living condition, and opportunities since birth, people with out birth defects or drug/alcohol birth then it is likely that all would performs equally.

That's a very good question ("would different peoples, achieve the same success's in life, given the same start/advantages ?").

But unfortunately I don't know the answer.

But when I look at countries, such as North Korea, they do seem to show poor signs of success, given most western measures.

Arguably it is NOT race/people etc, because the similarly populated South Korea, is extremely successful, in comparison (To North Korea, and most other countries for that matter).

Actually. Success is in the eye of the beholder.

They generally have greater shares of monetary wealth than the rest of the population. But calling that successful is a matter of personal opinion.

100% true.

Sadly in our culture we tend to judge success by the amount of money one has in their bank account.

South Korea's success over the last 30 years is not short of amazing! After the Korean war they were mired in poverty. Their landscape was devastated. They had to essentially start all over again. Over the last 30 years they have become an economic powerhouse and have attained G20 status.

Why were they able to obtain success so quickly? It's because they put education at the forefront. The chant bali! bali! which means quick! quick! was the national cry for improvement.

With success came the headaches. Many Koreans work long hours. They suffer from depression, and their suicide rate is the second highest in the world. Was the trade off worth it? I don't know. When I visit Thailand I'm always amazed at how nicely I'm treated. Everyone seems happy. Yet, most Thais make $1,000 USD a month. I've lived in South Korea and it's the opposite. A lot of people there seem miserable and rude. They will knock into you without saying sorry. I know it's a culture issue, but manners and compassion are still universal. It seems that many South Koreans lack both. The experiences that I've described were in Seoul. Maybe New York is the same?

I still loved living over there.

They are 2% of the population but yet they own over 50% of America's wealth. That is amazing! When I read that Steve Ballmer and a few other investors were in discussions to buy the Clippers I noticed that they are all Jewish. Most of today's top entrepreneurs are Jewish. Google, Facebook, Starbucks. All started by people whose religion is Jewish.

Obviously not all Jewish people are wealthy. I know it's not good to stereotype people. I find it remarkable that a culture that only represents 2% of the American population can have such a huge impact.

What are they doing differently that the majority of Americans aren't doing?

*Do they have a greater sense of community?
*Do they value education more than most cultures?
*Do they have a certain toughness that comes from being persecuted for centuries?
*Are they better at finances than most people?
*Are they really the chosen ones?

So what is it?

We have very large penises which gives us a great deal of cockiness. It's a good thing to be cocky.

The KIA is my example why it's just "quick, quick" and no one has any pride in making anything.

And i say that as a very satisfied LG customer. Stay the fuck away from cars.

it's funny, women are most attracted to jews, that is true......but won't most admit openly...

could be the money, could be giant circumsized penises, could be that they are excellent lover (control the pornography industry)

If you meet a Korean living in Gangnam maybe you'll get that reaction but the ones outside the city (sheegol countryside) are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. From my perspective, in the hustle & bustle of big cities (New York, Paris) you will encounter a lot more rude people and you get extremely nice people in the rural areas.

Jews value hard work, education, and help each other out. A lot of others don't like seeing other people succeed (jealousy). Japan and Korea were able to become economic powerhouses due to tight knit families and control (Keiretsu & Chaebol).

discipline... jews have 613 laws (though i haven't met anyone that follows them all). when this is engraved into your mind from a young age, everything else like school and work seems simple. a culture groomed for success for over 5 thousand years...

Could be that we know how to treat women right, that we are not jealous, that we don't treat women as property but rather as our equals in the relationship, could be all of the above.

Maybe they are conditioned to value money over other things? I don't know. Ask ten people and they will give you ten different answers.

Yes, South Korea has been absolutely amazing, especially in the electronics industries.

A lot of people there seem miserable and rude. They will knock into you without saying sorry.

What you seem to be describing here, is exactly what I have experienced in most busy/successful major capital cities.
For example, London, on its underground system.
Most other parts of the UK, would seem significantly friendlier, while out and about, amongst random (general public) people.

But my understanding is that if you met them indoors, and knew them, you would see a completely different situation. i.e. They would be friendly and nice.

There is probably a psychological explanation for these experiences, and changes, amongst the same people, but in different circumstances.

E.g. Lift (Elevator) mode. As soon as people walk into a lift, they turn into zombie statues, for the duration of the lift journey, in my experience in most countries.

Why are their IQ levels higher? Genetics? Years of persecution? They value education?

Actually, it's more specific than just "Jews". It's only the specific group known as Ashkenazi Jews that seem to have a substantially higher IQ.

The reasons are not fully clear, but there is a controversial scientific theory of Ashkenazi Intelligence. The basic explanation is that there is strong genetic tendency for high intelligence in this group, and there is reasonable, but still somewhat controversial evidence that this is the case.

The much more controversial part, and part without strong evidence, is why there such a genetic difference might exist - the prototypical idea is that this is due to selective breeding as a result of a specific culture. Specifically, Jewish custom has been to strongly value success in business or other high standing in the community; those with low standing, or repeated failure in business, would not be able to marry in the community and would be forced to leave. Essentially, success in breeding was predicated upon success in business and accumulation of wealth. Over thousands of years of this "selective breeding", the genes for intelligence, specifically mathematical and strategic intelligence became concentrated in this special group.

Yes sir. It's a huge, huge illusion that most of us are chasing. We're taught that from the moment we're born to earn lots and lots of money. Then, when we earn it, we don't seem to get really happier. I'm using the word happiness in terms of deep happiness. Not passing moods.

A lot of words here but I'm not sure if they have real meaning. Who is "we"?

i consider the ashkenazic and sephardic jews to be the "we"

they both share simalar physical attributes (skin colour, usually brown/reddish hair, full red beard, and prevailance of green hazel, or brown hazel eyes) usually, stocky and strong (think pyramid builders) and both show signs of advanced intelligence.....careers in technology, media, finance, business

ashkenazic and sephardic women are usually olive skinned, thin, and witty........ (think sarah silverman) or (salma hayek)

That's true. I wasn't stating that all Koreans are rude and uncaring. I lived in Jeonju and I met some awesome people. I have Korean friends that I hope to see and visit in the near future. The sheer amount of people in Seoul is staggering, so I can understand the stress that one must incur from living there on a daily basis.

I read that most people are jealous of wealthy people who got that way from hard work, rather than someone who got that way from winning the lottery. This is because deep down inside they know that they could have also found success if they did the hard work. The excuse mechanism kicks in and most people look for reasons why they aren't rich or successful. Instead, they should be honest and blame themselves. This is why we have people who believe the Jewish conspiracy crap.

Ask one Jew and you get the correct answer, money is useless, family is everything.

You won't find a homeless Jew in this world because no Jew is without a home, there is always a Jewish home for every Jew.

We are the dreaded socialists of the world who care for one another, who fight for one another and who share with one another in times of need.

This is how we survived through the holocaust, though the many years of starvation, through the pogroms, being turned away at American harbours because we were Jewish, through all of it we survived as one entity.

We care about each other.

You forgot Natalie Portman. I'm Ashkenazi but that means very little, Sepphardic, Mizrahni or Somali Jews are all Jews too.

I am not a religious Jew, as a cultural Jew i observe all religious celebrations but i'm secular and so are most Jews i know. Traditions bind us together though, so we observe them.
