you can usually tell by name......... if it's got a gold, berg, stein, baum, cohen (or variations like cone, kohn, kahn, ........usually germanic names, like schiller, stiller, schumer, ........for ashkenazi jews (germanic/russian)
and sephardic jews are usually white people, with a hispanic last name that doesn't translate to english, and ends in -ez instead of -es
like martines <---catholic = martin
martinez, could possibly be a jewish name (in 1492 the sephardic jews (jews froms sepharad (Spain) we're expelled, or forced to convert to catholicism and change there name...... the jews held onto there heritage in secret (hence the -ez spellings became popular)
however
estevez, would seem to denote jewish,....... este (it means is in spanish, no translation to an english name), and carries the -ez ending
buenavitez <----obvious jewish name
moralez <------obvious jewish name (this is my mothers maiden name)
those are two tribes of jews you see in the united states mostly today, there are other tribes spread out across the world however, ethiopian jews (beta jews)
there's even chinese jews.... there were originally 12 tribes of judah
