Kamala Harris has a lot of sexual baggage that will come out during vetting. She might be smart, but she also screwed the right people to get where she is. But, please run her and the following:
Hillary Clinton
Bernie Sanders
Elizabeth Warren
Joe Biden
John Kasich
Michelle Obama
Oprah Winfrey
Jeb Bush

/s

Sadly, there are no pure politicians anymore. I will wait to see if any upstanding, decent people run, then I will decide who to vote for, based on merit, not party.
Wait, I thought anything you did sexually even if crime is off the table? Got evidence of this so called baggage or is it more Alex Jones stuff again?

Quite frankly there’s a reason there no real potential democratic candidates.

Without a body to target, the repubs have to run on their record, such as it, is in November.

Since most won’t do that, (see the large number of repubs running away from office), their only choice is to run against Clinton again.

For 30% of the country, sure that works, but for the 70% not so much.
That is an interesting take. I thought it was because the Democrats were so far out of touch they could only find candidates that were interested in the latest liberal agenda of the day, instead of an overall policy that would make things better for the vast middle majority. But maybe it is better if some appealing candidate can get on a run at the last minute and give the Reps less time to do their usual character assignation.

Yeh, healthcare, housing, civil rights, women's rights, environmental issues & a bunch of others are just passing fancy for Dems.

The GOP trickle down agenda is clearly more succinct, that's for sure. FYGM. Don't need no broad middle class. It costs money to the people at the top. Pay the rent & STFU.

Honest answer - Eric Swalwell + Cheri Bustos as VP.

I like the guy but i've seen him on Tucker and he just let tucker lay out the daily trump talking points without any rebuttal. Seen this happen a couple times with him. Not sure he's ready for prime time yet. Or maybe he's the sleeping giant.

Dems just need to prop up a decently looking white dude that doesn't have a slimy background and toss in a midwest ringer (Bustos) for extra votes. It's not about directly combating Trump. Just offer candidates that don't suck.

This guy!

You really are a nasty little shit.

My first thought when opening the thread was Hay's dog, but he has now already been nominated, so I'm going with Eric Holder.

My first choice would be for somebody who will promise to institute martial law, arrest all involved in Russian collusion and obstruction of justice, removal and jail for unqualified Trump appointments across a branches of the government including all judicial appointments and the revocation off all legislation passed under his term. My choice would also revoke broadcast rights for right wing entertainment fantasy news like Limbbrow and Fox Fake News. They would be charged with the treasonous poisoning of democracy. That done, democracy would be restored and folk arrested could sue to get out.All states would be subjected to scientifically balanced redistricting. All political appointees would be fired and new elections held. That done, democracy would be restored and folk arrested could sue to get out.

The problems, for Dems, it seems, is that there are too many issues. I think we need someone who is perceived as honest and who puts out a bread and butter economic message for the middle class above all. It's always about the economy for some significant group. I don't know who that will be yet, there is certainly no one out there with the name recognition of Hillary who is acceptable.

That's pretty silly. The GOP nominee in 2020 will almost certainly be Trump or Pence.

I'm 100% sure the President in 2021 will be Trump. The question asked was who would be the next person to be President. I answered Haley.

I figure there's a better than even chance that president Pence will be running in 2020. Just sayin'.

Realizing that straight white middle aged men have won 44 out of 45 times we could try Sherrod Brown, Mitch Landrieu or Chris Murphy. Lots of the others mentioned so far are really too old for us to ask them for 2 terms, which is what we want.

Trump May Already Be Indicted Under Seal

as far as potential candidates Russ Feingold seems to be a pretty decent one from my home state.

So what? He'd still be president until he's legally removed, resigns or fails to be re-elected. Not to mention that any successor would probably pardon him anyway. The trial of Trump would be incredibly divisive & damaging to national unity.

if he is indicted, depending on what he is charged with, especially if was for actions taken before he ran, I think it would be worse for the country if he isn't prosecuted.

I think that Trump is basically a shoe-in for reelection in 2020, unless he either decides not to run or his legal troubles become more serious. I wouldn't want to run against him, that's for sure. The mainstream media might not like him, but his fans are loyal.

Joe Biden. He's experienced, relatively popular, on the left but clearly moderate... and since he's a white male, on-the-fence Republicans won't be frightened of him. A bit old but not so old that he couldn't handle at least one term.

Besides, after the train wreck that is Trump, most of the American public probably wouldn't mind someone who's a direct reminder of the better times under Obama.

Biden would've won in 2016. Well, just about anybody other than Hillary could have beaten Trump.

I'm a little surprised nobody has mentioned Tulsi Gabbard. She's moderate, young, attractive, and a veteran. But with the country so polarized, it seems that only far left/right candidates get in. Otherwise we might have had Kasich in 2016.

You'd be dangerous if you knew what you were talking about-

Trump is President only by dint of an anomalous result of the Electoral College. Remember that. If he makes it to 2020 a whole lot of Americans will be sick of his shit including people duped into voting for him the first time & duped into not voting by the Crooked Hillary bullshit.

Exact same things were said about Dubya for his re-election and we know how that turned out.
