I don't keep up on politics, and have no idea who's waiting in the wings to run against Trump next election. It should be someone moderate with enough political smarts, class and charisma to repair the damage Trump has done to the office. Not to mention someone who believes in science and values actual facts.

We can discuss who will probably run and who has a chance of winning as well, but I'd like to know who you all feel would make a particularly good next President of the United States of America and why?

There aren't any leaders except perhaps one we tossed in the 2016 primary so I haven't positive suggestions, but there's ABC- Anyone But Cuomo from the Dems.

Nobody can top Trump. There may be stupider people. There may be more narcissistic people. There may be more corrupt people. But I have my doubts that anyone else possesses all three traits in such large proportions.

I don't see him getting many serious endorsements.

I think Elizabeth Warren would be a good candidate. She combines Clinton's realism with Sanders' greater liberalism and I think she's someone that would appeal to both wings of the Democratic Party.

Ms Warren hasn’t protected her name & brand well enough. That’s my only complaint about Her.
Similar to Pelosi she’s let her name & brand be tarnished so bad it can be said she is a detriment.

Corey Booker?

I know I’ll get some hate for this but come on nobody is perfect

You know your suggestion is good when you're asking for forgiveness before you even post.

I hope if we learned anything in 2016 it's that none of that shit actually matters. Pelosi is a party fossil that can't really be compared to Warren.

Joe Biden. He's experienced, relatively popular, on the left but clearly moderate... and since he's a white male, on-the-fence Republicans won't be frightened of him. A bit old but not so old that he couldn't handle at least one term.

Besides, after the train wreck that is Trump, most of the American public probably wouldn't mind someone who's a direct reminder of the better times under Obama.

Sanders, but he's getting old and I'm not sure if the US is ready for him.

Well I think his greatest asset at the moment is that he already has an established base of support and they are quite fond of him, especially those young eager ones of the party that see how his vision benefits them in so many ways. So that puts him at quite an advantage as far as primaries go.

Nikki Haley - tough, respected internationally and wide support from a broad political spectrum

Seth Moulton - a new breed of Democrats born of frustrated veterans

Joe Biden - should have run last time, would be the right choice now

Patty Murray - bipartisan and what the GOP used to look like

Charlie Baker - one of the most popular governors in the country

Bernie Sanders - too old but still on point

Jerry Brown - any liberal governor that can keep the asylum in order and balance the budget is a good choice in my book

I'd vote for Biden in a heartbeat if he ran.

I could almost get behind Jerry Brown, but he really pissed me off with that dumbass moderate speed rail we just had to build. The budget for that has already more than tippled, and the first lawsuits have already been filled.

Whoever runs, they're going to want to avoid what happened to Hillary and her problem with how the electoral college gave the rural conservative leaning states an "unfair advantage". It seems all it took for the folks that gave Trump his win in those states was big fat lies, false fairy tale promises and the incessant appeals to their emotions to hate "the establishment", "draining the swamp" and above all "throwing Hillary in jail".

No one that voted for the Iraq war should even be a consideration. Democrats are hopeless until they learn that.

The Democrats decided collectively that Iraq wasn't worth bothering with once Obama won. Perhaps I should vote for my dog again.
