My state has had multiple decent Presidential candidates, on both sides, but no winner since 1960. Teddy K, Paul Tsongas, Mike Dukakis, John Kerry, Henry Cabot Lodge, Mitt Romney...

I can't see the rest of the country accepting Elizabeth Warren, Charles Baker, Seth Moulton, Deval Patrick, Joe K III...

It's amusing to occasionally come back to the sewer just to note that the usual suspects have no clue what is happening up here on the surface. The economy is literally booming to twenty year highs. Absolutely no one with any sense wants to return to the Obama economy. Between this and the revelations of the FBI working hand in cloven hoof with Hillary's DNC smear machine and planting spies (excuse me, informants; those are totally different somehow) in the Trump campaign, it will make very little difference who the Dems put up in 2020 unless they manage to somehow derail Trump's agenda. I suspect 2020 will be either Michelle Obama or Oprah, either of which (or both) will go down in flames. The average Joe doesn't pay attention to politics except for a few months before elections, but he damn sure notices the economy.

2024 will be Dwayne Johnson's year. At this point, both parties should be courting him. Neither party will, because politicians absolutely suck at learning the correct lessons from anything.

Hillary Clinton
Elizabeth Warren
Bernie Sanders
Jerry Brown

Please Please Please run one (or more) of them.

Egads, either this is sarcasm to the Nth degree or you've been brainwashed. Do you actually read any news that doesn't come from a hyper-conservative site parroting Trump's lies without question?

It's hilarious that you're claiming the economy was so terrible under Obama while purposefully ignoring that the current economy is booming in part because of Obama. He inherited an economic meltdown from Bush Jr. and managed to turn it around. Job growth rates were higher throughout most of Obama's tenure than they have been under Trump. And need I remind you that Trump managed to wipe out a large chunk of the stock market's gains during his tenure through stupid remarks and policy decisions? Look at how the economy changes during a term, not where it starts.

And on the surface, we know what's happening: a startling number of Republican seats (including some "safe" ones) flipping Democrat in special elections, and a GOP that assumes it's going to lose at least the House to the Democrats (see Ryan and others deciding not to run). I wouldn't call it a "blue wave," but you might want to stop jerking off to the thought of an eight-year Trump term.

Wow.. Where do you get your drugs?

Someone willing to say: "The office of President has too much power. If elected, I will make sure that the position becomes much more of a figurehead than it currently is. In other words, bring the position back to what it was intended to be, part of the checks and balances--not one step below "emperor", which is where it is currently heading."

YEAH!!!!!!!

You did. See post 14.

I never understood why that caused his downfall.

Oh and btw Howard Dean 2020!

I don't think that it in and of itself did. Fact is he was already losing, but I think that the clip was repeatedly used to make him seem crazy furthered it. I remember the Daily Show or something similar running it several times for laughs. It seems many networks expressed regret for playing it so much.

Ain't that the truth. Probably the most useless speaker of the house since Wilber Mills.

EDIT: My brain translated your description of Rand Paul into Paul Ryan. Maybe mild stroke.

I do it all the time. I will say this, I'd take Rand Paul 100 times straight before I even consider Paul Ryan. With Ryan, you know exactly what he is, and none of it is good for 99.98% of the people in this country.

Somebody seems to have found some interesting drugs to play with.

You've expressed a very unpopular opinion. The champions of freedom here will probably break a few fingers pounding on their keyboards.
I would add that Trump might blow it with the tariffs. That could very easily be a big win or a catastrophic loss.

I used to respect you as a conservative poster, but it appears you've joined so many others who've given up on facts in this post truth era.

Kamala Harris has a lot of sexual baggage that will come out during vetting. She might be smart, but she also screwed the right people to get where she is. But, please run her and the following:
Hillary Clinton
Bernie Sanders
Elizabeth Warren
Joe Biden
John Kasich
Michelle Obama
Oprah Winfrey
Jeb Bush

/s

Sadly, there are no pure politicians anymore. I will wait to see if any upstanding, decent people run, then I will decide who to vote for, based on merit, not party.

Martha Stewart 2020. When she tells us that she's cooking up stuff we'll all know where she's coming from with VP Snoop Dog keeping things real so no shizzle gets on his nizzle.😛

Quite frankly there’s a reason there no real potential democratic candidates.

Without a body to target, the repubs have to run on their record, such as it, is in November.

Since most won’t do that, (see the large number of repubs running away from office), their only choice is to run against Clinton again.

For 30% of the country, sure that works, but for the 70% not so much.
