Who Won the Debate?

  • Barack Obama

  • Mitt Romney

  • no one

  • the American people

  • Jim Lehrer

Results are only viewable after voting.
I'll be very curious to see a poll after the next couple, too. If Obama has a great night will we see similar voting, or will the anti-Obama be unnable to admit it...

Though the president has to actually perform for this experiment to happen... so we'll see.

I hope people keep it honest. if your man performs like shit and loses, say so.

I don't know. Obama is way too smart for this, so I now wonder if Obama has a plan?
If Obama blew this first debate on purpose? The ammo on Obama's part was obvious, like the bail out of the auto industry where Mitt wanted them to go bankrupt. But Obama said nothing of this. And said nothing about so many issues.
So I have to wonder... was this his plan?
Just what is he up to?
This was more than poor performance from Obama. He knows better.
Just what is he up to?
Stay tuned....

Just stop while in your own mind you are ahead. There is no master plan for losing a debate. This isn't Mohamed Ali letting the opponent get tired from beating him up. Obama lost. Get over it.

When the liberal media called you out as debacle = you suck.

This was about one candidate who came with a frame for the evening, and who was prepared to engage on every question; and another who, perhaps because of his documented faith in his own abilities, felt he could wing it with snatches of familiar verbiage.

....this debate—as one-sided as any I have ever seen...

I have to admit it. Romney won hands down. Hell, Obama did not even look good. Looked all puffy.

The only spin I will put on this is that Jim Leher sure seemed to keep time for Obama but not Mittens.

Me thinks, using Kerry for a practice opponent wasn't such a good idea.🙁

That's because the bogeyman of the dishonest Democrat is just that, a bogeyman. Sucks when facts destroy your preconceived beliefs, doesn't it. Of course there are dishonest Democrats that have severe bias problems, but they are in the minority on this board. The GOP, however, not so much. Dishonesty is practically a core value for a GOP supporter these days.

My boss just asked what I was laughing at. You can't be serious ...can you? Thanks for the hoot!!!

I thought I read somewhere last night that obummer actually had 4 minutes more talking time than Romney did during the debate. Lehrer didn't do a very good job staying in control of the debate, he let both the candidates push him around.

Obama is too smart to speak to 'our' level. The average American looks at him, looks at the Neocon, and then votes for the warm and fuzzy who promised them a chicken in every pot and did it with flavor.

Lies > Truth

Politics > Reality.

Obama played the wrong game. He tried to be intelligent, he needs to drag his knuckles like the rest of us.

I don't think anyone even remotely objective could watch that debate last night and come away with anything other than obummer got crushed. I guess that's what happens when he doesn't have his teleprompter available.

As much as I enjoyed watching obummer get hammered, I don't think it matters one little bit, the general public won't care and the ones that do care had already made up their mind prior to the debate. This won't move the needle, obummer still wins the election easily.

As I said. It is better in politics to lie with passion, than use cold logic.

Your goal in a debate is to get the middle ground people to believe what you have to say. Not the other side who is already dedicated to that party.

Another big difference is Obama now has to defend what he has done over the last 4 years vs. in 2008 when all he had to do was blow smoke up our asses.

The poll results are right there for you to see. How do you think this poll would have gone over if Romney was the one who completely sucked? Think our rabid righties would ever admit that Obama won anything? 🙄

No one will know the answer until we see Obama actually perform better in a debate against Romney.

Actually, that is the goal of the entire campaign, not just the debates.

Which is exactly what Romney was referring to when he made the 47% comment a few weeks ago. He was discussing CAMPAIGN STRATEGY and knows damn well that he shouldn't focus his CAMPAIGN efforts on those who are already too drunk on Obama kool-aid to notice or change their vote.

I'm also pretty sure most of those who are attacking him for that comment know exactly what he really meant, but that's certainly not what they've spun it into since then...

I won. I watched the Tigers last game and Cabrera win a triple crown.

I watched the Yankees/Sox game. The Yankees definitely won. Thought the debate was basically unwatchable. I'm used to Obama but Mitt made me think of a replacement politician. Not up to the job. Not ready for prime time. I still don't know who to vote for.

Well considering this site/forums has a bigger democratic audiance than republican.

The fact that Mitt Romney got so many votes in this poll, as to who won the debate. makes me think It shows he did in fact outperform Obama.

Now the people who voted for Obama either
A) Didn't watch it and is a democrat
B) Die hard democrat who refuses to admit Mitt Romney won a debate, which is silly because who can honestly say this will have much of an impact on anything?

Romney won the debate on style, not on facts. In fact he played extremely fast and loose with them again like he has all campaign.

The question is did he move swing voters and Obama voters into his camp with one debate performance? Probably not, most people have their minds made up at this point. Any undecideds left will want to see the rest of the debates where Obama will do much better.

Net result, race tightens up a few pts but Obama still leads.

Perhaps, but you really think anyone can top Obama's list of unfulfilled campaign promises?

Topping the list isn't required... having a list that's equally big is just as bad.

Seriously... do you honestly think Romney will be any better than Obama has been? If so, there's no end to the amount of bullsh!t you can be made to believe.

I think the Romney strategy worked well - keep trying to say that certain issues should be decided by the states, and avoid as many real answers as possible; just attack what's happened over the past 4 years, often using dubious figures. On the issue of government regulations - rather than saying what I believe he wants - fewer regulations, he basically said "regulations are good. Some need to be eliminated, we need some new ones, and some are outdated." No shit, Romney. Now, answer the question.
