The Democrat circular firing squad is in full force.

Your job now is to sell Walz cause there is a ton of great things to sell, and call out the attacks on him for what they are. That's your job as politically active people who want the Dems to win. Keep the bitching here but to anybody on the fence in real life, that is your one job between now and November.

Yep. Not going to worry about doom and gloomers at this point. There's going to be some with ANY choice she made. Not going to worry about what slimy GOP lying ads might say either.

As far as the DUI, apparently that was enough to make him quit drinking. I don't think that is any kind of closet skeleton. People make mistakes and some of them own up. Some never do, they just sue the other person.

This is a damn good ticket, on paper. Fucking miles better than Donald Trump and JD Vance. Just my opinion. Obviously nobody knows what will happen, but I have optimism.

Let’s look at the three tickets:

Kennedy has brain worms and eats road kill along with batshit crazy public health beliefs.

Trump and Vance have both endorsed ending democracy in the US this is unfortunately become a more mainstream view in the GOP.

Harris and Walz mainstream Democrats

I really wanted to vote for a young, energetic, charismatic and intelligent person like Pete in 8 years. Walz looks and sounds old now and 8 years in a high-stress job like VP is going to age him further. He sounds pretty liberal though which I like. We need more liberals because the scales are clearly tipped the other direction and they need to be balanced.

Have you heard Walz speak? He sounds old? I'm not sure what you are hearing.

It was refreshing to go to the NewYork subreddit and see people happily being in shock the Dems chose the best candidate and seem competent now, and are enthused. As one guy put this choice

"The old school Democrats were spineless weenies, who let the arrogant Republican bullies steal their lunch money every day.
Now we have a new crop of Dems who are angry at what 50 years of sociopathic Republican rule have done to our nation, and their future. I'm excited to see them get off the leash and fight back."

I dont see the circular firing squad at the moment. I think everyone is agreeing this is a good pick.

Do you have a crystal ball that he is going to run in 8 years? I know the odds are high given VPs who eventually run, but it isn't guaranteed.

He reminds me a John McCain. Yes he looks old IMHO. I just want the enthusiasm to continue if she gets to the white house. The dems should be courting gen z and millennials and I think they would find Pete more appealing. Heck I do and I'm not much younger than Walz. Age is important to dem voters. Just ask Biden.

I am very pleased and happy with Tim Walz as her VP Pick. He may not be as charismatic as Pete, but, Minnesota has accomplished a lot with his leadership. He has a track record which shows he has fought for workers and he has fought for education.

I only mentioned sounding like because I know he looks old, but when he opens his mouth he sounds great and his vibe is perfect. Also he is 60 years old, not 81. And they present totally differently, I don't think that comparison is reasonable at all.

How does he remind you of McCain?

I think younger voters are going to absolutely love his vibe actually.

You still may see Pete in 8.

Yep, there's nothing guaranteeing Walz would run again, or win primaries, in 8 years.

I'm not particularly worried about 8 years from now, personally. Clear and present danger right now. While I think it's good to think ahead, it's been encouraging to see a number of up-and-comers not named Newsome. Beshear, etc.

Even if you think Walz looks and sounds old (he looks a bit older than he is, sounds what you'd expect), compared to Biden and Trump he's a spring chicken. If they win twice, he'll be 10 years younger by then than Biden was in 2020.

Yes this does not anoint Walz in 8 years in the slightest, and it shouldn't even be on the radar. The Dems have a nice looking younger bench, if Kamala goes eight years, we will have a great primary season. Simple as that.

But yeah, let's win now anyway.

Shit that's scary.
They might feed kids at school.
Can America really afford that?

FOOD is a bridge too far for us red blooded patriots!
I remember back in the 80s I was attending public school in Buenos Aires and kids would get an afternoon snack of a tub of milk and a piece of bread. A third world countries knows how to help kids in school and then I look at the USA...

I mean part of the decision in choosing a vp candidate should have included an investigation into if that person could win in 8 years. In my mind I had that as a priority. I like to think long term like our enemies.

re: MN taxes

Huh, interesting as I'm strongly considering moving to MN in the years ahead. Despite no income tax here in FL.

Perhaps we can arrange a swap. Certainly the lack of taxes is a big reason why all the retirees come here. Then again, insurance (if you can even get it) is going sky high...you might have to go to Alabama or some other state to really save.

You get the government you pay for. Paying "high" taxes beats living in a low tax shithole. I put "high" in quotation marks because even the highest taxed states are pretty low taxed.

Edit: If you want the benefits of civilization and low taxes for the average taxpayer, learn to eat the rich. It really works.

Now that age has been made an issue we need to nominate only children. Otherwise we won't be able to sleep with you hand hanging out of the bed where the dark things under it can reach out a and grab it. Did you know that people project their self hate and fill the world with threats? Imagine living like that. Oh wait, that's what our world looks like, no? Tell me we aren't all victims of imaginary nightmares. It's those God Damned conservatives that are the liars and hypocrites, right. Go on, you can tell me. :)

I think he looks a bit like McCain plus he has a military background. If he runs in 8 years he would be 68. If he got two terms he would be 76 when he left office. I also imagine a lot of people who vote for older people will no longer be with us. A younger generation of voters is about to take over. I just want us to appeal to them. Who knows, he might give them free healthcare and education and send ondma the bill. That would be appealing to young voters.
