Who doesn't drink?

High probability of abuse and serious health consequences. CDC stats confirm this. The one/two drink a day advise is a ruse at best..darn few drinkers are able to maintain just 2 drinks a day and go well beyond and into trouble in short order. And there is plenty other ways to maintain cardio/vascular circulation health. Booze is for boZos.

I don't drink, not interested in it really and the taste is just awful. I'd much rather just drink a Coke.

It seems like most people who don't drink have some reason for it: problems in the past, religious convictions, etc.
I don't drink, but I don't do it for any particular reason. It's liek collecting stamps or something. I have no particular aversion to collecting stamps, it jsut doesn't interest me, so I don't do it. Same with drinking.
Anyway, I just wanted to see how many people don't drink, for whatever reason.

Don't drink.

notfred, it's "like."

notfred, it's "just."

😀

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a history of substance abuse in your family predispose but not GUARANTEE that you will become an abuser? Just curious. I don't have a history of substance abuse in my family, but I drink socially with no qualms whatsoever.

I used to be the same way -- but I also didn't drink because of bad associations (family history). I eventually realized that you can drink without being a lush, and that a glass of wine or two when in the company of friends has a tendency to be a bit of a social lubricant. I don't hang out around drunks, but when we gather for poker nights, stuff like that, most of us have a few (and I mean that literally; usually three or less) drinks. It takes the edge off, I guess. 😀

I suppose, in hindsight, that's why I don't drink cheap drinks; I drink for pleasure, but not for getting drunk. No cheap gin/vodka/beer for me. 😀

I can't handle it very well. I turn all red (asian thing for the most part)... and my head feels like its been in a blender soon thereafter. Most I ever had was 6 shots of vodka in 45 minutes. That night was... forgettable. The next morning... wasn't.

I don't drink for the following reasons:
1: I've seen enough drunk people to know I don't want to be one.
2: It costs money.
3: My family has a history of alcoholism (a low rate, but a definate trend)
4: I would most likely do something not very good.

I really don't think I'm missing that much. I have no problems having a drink for a special occasion (ie: Sister's wedding)

I used to drink a LOT when I had 3 other roommates.

It was crazy, if you bought a case of beer you either got drunk or the case would be gone by the next morning. Now that I only have one roommate (in a house that I own), I might have a beer or two with a meal but I rarely drink enough to get trashed. It's not worth the hangover, and I usually do things I regret when i'm loaded. :-\

I really feel that some people here are telling white lies stating that they do not drink...

How do you live????

I thought it was impossible to live with out water and liquids! :disgust:

I don't watch movies often but when I do I like to slam 10-12 shots of Skyy that way even the borderline bad movies are watchable 😉
