Me.Ummmm, that's called a military coup and is generally frowned upon. We have this thing called a constitution that lays out the process from removing the president from office. Even if your deranged little fantasy came true, who do you think the military will hand the government over to? Pence? Pelosi? Hillary? Who's to say that they won't decide to go full junta on us?

I think that the argument that a President declaring an national emergency on something that is obviously not in order to use the military to do his bidding against the expressed wishes of Congress could also be considered a military coup.
I hope he does it and gets away with it so President O'Rourke can declare national emergencies for climate change and health care.
Unless having gotten away with it he declares a state of emergency to cancel the elections. This really is a door we do not want to open. It is not an exaggeration to say that this is actually how democracies fall.

Too bad it wasn't enough of them to be meaningful. Comes up short and gives cover as usual.Glad Congress was able to come together to tell him where to shove his wall.
Hopefully they can flip a couple more Rs to tell him to shove his veto into the same hole.

Except the GOP will fight tooth and nail to curb these powers but not until they give a pass on this because, well, he had the power to do it so it’s ok.Ignoring the constitutional issues.
It’s a win-win to me, money pulled from military descression funds to pay for wall which doesn’t really bother me, next Democrat President calls healthcare a National Emergency
Maybe I am getting sick of winning

I think Trump might actually have a legal argument for his action. If building the wall is seen as enforcing existing immigration law, executing the law is his actual job.
Not that I agree with his action in any way whatsoever, but if it stands on this principle I don't agree that it essentially expands Presidential power nearly to infinity. If a Democrat President were to try the same approach for, say, healthcare reform, they would only be able to do things within the scope of current law. That's far short of socialized healthcare.
