yes. and we could have skipped all of these questions since they aren't pertinent.
They absolutely are pertinent as realibrad is STILL trying to use a context angle to poke a hole in my logic. It is very important that we establish that Spungo and Waggy were extending the protesters own logic in order to debunk it.

It seems to me that the extensions were meant to follow a specific pattern. I think that pattern for Spungo was:

If A is valid then B must also be valid
B is not valid (via sarcasm, similar to Waggy)
Therefore A cannot be valid (via sarcasm, similar to Waggy)

Would you agree? (Yes/No)

Wait...I'm black, and I never had to personally fight for my right to vote...am I still a minority?
As a black person, would you say the challenges you face throughout life are no different than the challenges that white people face in America? Do you think that since Doc grew up in the environment he did that he now understands what your life has been like?

Well, primarily because Waggy isn't exactly the most honest poster on this board. Secondly, as I have mentioned, I don't think he even knew the logic required to make that post.

well now and what haven't i been honest about?

I gotta admit this thread is fucking funny.

We are getting comically close to the number of posts of the Benghazi thread.

Hey, it's not my fault he seems bent on dragging this out longer than it has to be. My last question was very straightforward. I can't for the life of me figure out what part of it he doesn't agree with. Close to 100 posts just to show him that he agrees with my assessment of Waggy's intent.

oh yeah, this post.

No.

I have an issue with "meant to follow a specific pattern." I agree that it follows that pattern. So you can take it as a yes if you like. It looks like the answer you want.

It would have been totally impossible for you to state you opinion, and then simply ask if he agreed. How would someone even do that????????

MAGIC!

I would like to say "no", there are no differences, but I think I know better. I'm not a minority is the sense of the word 60 years ago, which is why your voting example doesn't make any sense.

Do you think that since Doc grew up in the environment he did that he now understands what your life has been like?

I don't know what environment he grew up in, but typically, he wouldn't be able to relate.

Further, there's a certain authenticity that comes with being able to relate to the history one teaches...in that sense, I can agree with having a black teacher teach black history.

How is the authenticity going to help someone who has not gone though those experiences understand?

I'm being honest here. I would imagine being black 20+ years ago was a very different life.

It makes sense in that I believe Doc may have been alive in 1964. I could be wrong but that isn't really the point. That was just a single example. The point, which you seem to agree with, is that he can't claim to have lived as a minority in the general sense of the word. The best he can say is that he may have experienced one small part of it.

I think I agree with you. I certainly think a white person could be qualified to teach African studies or whatever but I can also understand the benefit that a black person might bring. Really none of my business, though.

Okay, so you grew up in the US with the rest of us but somehow your childhood was so different from every other white person in the US that you are now qualified to speak as though you were a minority?
I'm not going to give you anything to marginalize me or what I've experienced during my life.

I said "meant" because IMO Spungo's extension did follow that pattern, while Waggy's did not. But we will get to that. You clearly have a problem with this part so we will again break it down further.

Let's start by looking at the protesters' logic. It seems to me that the protesters logic breaks down like this:

Non-minority doesn't have the life experience to teach minority studies class
Current teach is non-minority
Therefore current teacher shouldn't be teaching this class.

Would you agree? (Yes/No)

You said my premise was flawed. My premise was that a white person does not know what it is like to grow up as a minority in the US. Your rebuttal:
Because white people have no experience as a minority in America while black people DO have experience with American History?
This is not true for some people. I'm white and grew up in a black neighborhood. Your premise appears to be flawed.
You think your experiences mean you know what it is like to grow up as a minority in the US. I think you are wrong. You want to take it personally? Go ahead.
