i think young would rank ahead of favre.

NFW Young inherited a good team...when he played for Tampa Bay he sucked ass...

didn't he only play for Tampa bay his rookie season? Before going to the USFL?

I know you've been reading my other posts because of your replies, so there is NO excuse for you to take my quote COMPLETELY out of context.

I have stated in other posts in this thread. IN MY OPINION, Marino is the BEST QB of all time and his yardage statistics etc bear that out, HOWEVER, I have also CLEARLY STATED, that tho he is the BEST, he is not a GREAT because of his lack of Super Bowl wins.

I don't get your complaint about taking it out of context. Your entire message is there for everyone to read, I don't understand the distinction you are making between "best" and "one of the greatest".

I'd still take Marino over Favre.

Yep, poor Dan. With such an amazing arm, too bad he never hit the big one. He's above Favre in my book.

My favorite QB of all time is Montana though, just part of my generation growing up and watching football. I despised Young for the longest after he took over, but Young definitely proved to be great.

best is about ability, great is about achievement.

very few people that know football argue about marinos PURE ability. the man had ability at the qb position that i've never seen matched. NO ONE played the position better.

However, Aikman won 3 Super bowls, 3 of 3, so yes, i would consider aikman the greater (more accomplished) qb, but not the better of the two.

Last I checked it took a team to win a superbowl, not one player.

Miami was a great team. Marino was often personally responsible for why they didn't win games. Miami's offense counted on Marino to perform at a certain level, and he wasn't able to do so on many occasions.

Maybe Miami shouldn't have relied on him as much as they did, but the implication of that is that Marino's amazing statistics are not a sign of greatness, but of a failed offensive scheme.

Great quarterbacks make their teams better, Marino's inability to always perform at the most important times made Miami worse than they would have been with a different offensive plan and a better quarterback.

The problem with miami when Marino was QB was it's predictability....90% Pass and 10%run and their running backs sucked.

I saw Brett Favre here in Topeka, KS. We had one of the best drug-rehab treatment centers in America (Mennigers), when Brett was having a little problem with the..drink drink 😉:wine::beer:😉

A better quarterback? I agree he was a passing quarterback and thus more easily anticipated; however, he did great things. What do you mean by a better quarterback??

Not My Rules...I would rank they by their accomplishments and bringing a team out of the shitter is alot harder then taking a repeat Superbowl team back to the big one...Just Common sense..

Really simple to figure out...
