Seriously. Not to mention all the overpriced 8600GTS cards.

Ordered my SSC directly from EVGA.com for 289.99

I know I probably could have gotten it cheaper by waiting but... I'm sick of onboard video!

SSC

That's not to bad , Is that SSC using the same single slot cooler as the reference card ?

my guess is that it is... the spec sheet doesnt say its got an upgraded cooler... but really who cares... its factory OC with a lifetime warranty... hard to go wrong...

I wonder....I'm sure the regular SC and KO editions will OC to the SSC speeds. What I'm wondering is one the Shader clock, does RivaTuner let you bump up the shader clock as well as the memory and core clocks? I only have a 7800GT and I know you can't on this card, is this shader clock something new? Stupid question maybe but wondering if people with current 8800's will know. Because that stock shader is 1500 and gets bumped considerable even in the SC

The SCC no longer has the BUY NOW button

I think they're all ready gone

I'm so tempted! I would love to get the Quake Wars bundle, but I have to restrain myself and wait until it hits $200 for 512mb or thereabouts. I think I'll need to replace my PSU too, so every buck counts. But damn, I want it!

After reading the AT review, all that comes to mind is:

HUMILIATION!!! (in big Quake voice)

I said "AHHH! Screw it!!!" and got the EVGA Superclocked from Newegg. New high-end in 3 weeks be damned! Damn you, new high-end cards!!

/shakes fist at yet-to-be-released high-end cards

My 7900GTO (totally unoverclockable...believe me, I've tried!) just doesn't cut it at 1920x1200 anymore.

Being that's it's EVGA (I've got stuff registered with them since 2004), I can always do the step up program later. :)

I don't see $280 being a rip for this card.

There's a peace of mind (for me) that comes from buying from Newegg. No BS transaction, rush service (Preferred Account), no need to use a CC (Preferred Acc) and painless RMA should something be amiss. Plus, it comes with Quake Wars, which I've been trying to buy for two weeks, but STEAM (damn you, STEAM!) keeps rejecting my CC...stupid 'tards that they are.

By the time the MSRP on the new NVidia high-end cards comes down to normal levels, I will step up to it after enjoying my new 8800GT for 2 months.

I'm happy. And at the end of the day, isn't that what really matters? Making ME happy? :D

Thats awesome for you, in the end its what makes YOU happy!

My order just got processed through so, YAY. Ill have pics of it when I get back from vacation. Also.... Ill have pics of the Zalman vf1000 installed onto it. I have some leftover Zalman STG-1 so I guess I'lluse that for the thermal grease.

Well, really, Crysis is the only game that is going to have problems running at 16x12 (or 16x10) with an 8800 GT. And for that game, a higher-end 8800, I don't think, isn't going to make the dramatical difference we are looking for. This should definitely be a very popular card at this price.

yeah newegg has its advantages... you'll definately get the card faster which might be worth the $10 mark-up right there...

but i think it will be longer than 2 months for these to hit normal levels... these will be in short supply for a while is my guess...

We dont know yet, depends on how the normal and sc versions overclock.

Also, if you buy the $229 version from frys, you could buy an aftermarket cooler and possibly oc it past ssc version

it's a $30 markup for an OC that has a lifetmie warranty....
for that $30 you get:
700Mhz over 600 stock
1Ghz mem clock vs. 900mhz stock
1750Mhz shader clock vs. 1500Mhz stock
64GB mem bandwith vs. 57.6 stock

seems worth $30 to me

As much as I want to get caught up in the 8800GT mania, I am going to wait and see what other cards are going to be released in a few weeks.

I ordered the XFX from Newegg and it had the standard warranty, now it is 30-day non-refundable. I still get the better warranty right?

Are these cards already completely sold out? And if you purchase it from the supported sites by Nvidia does it qualify for the free ET Quake Wars?
