Fuel Economy Highway........V6:30.0 mpg..........i4:34.0 mpg
The hit in fuel economy isn't that much for me. A 6er makes it much more easy to merge onto freeways around here, and when I carry a full load (4 people total, 1 driver 3 pass, plus cargo), a 6 makes it much better power wise to drive on the highway when going through hills. Dad has a 1998.5 2.8 V6 30v Audi A6, mom has a 97 accord i4, and the Audi is much more satisfying to drive power wise; the 6 feels smoother in delivering power than the 4.
Both my dad's 04 and my 04 (both I4) average about 28 in the city. I've only gotten 26 when I've floored it the entire time between fillups. Although on V6p.net, most of the 6 banger guys report getting 2mpg over that 21 in real life driving, so I guess it evens out
wooot another v6p'er
i have a accord 01 v6 too and i love it over my mom's accord 00 i4... i get shit-ty mileage though.. tank refill after every 300mi's (in city w/ neddle hanging on the below line)... = 17-19mpg..
but i drive wierd and i do floor it sometimes..
the new accords i4 engine is the same series from acura rsx's and such. those engies are very good and very good aftermarket support. its dohc now vs sohc like prev. gens. the new v6 DO NOT need premium fuel.. but if you do put preminum fuel, u will gain the benefit. the knock sensor recognizes the fuel and it raised the compression = 10hp more!
but now that i own a v6 i dont think i can ever go back unless the i4 series engines get better
