But for video games they always choose to use the Forgotten Realms campaign setting and always on the Sword Coast.
After a buttload of games set there, it really is getting old.
The world of Faerun has so much more, and then there's the other campaign settings like Eberron, Ravenloft and Darksun.
Not to mention the classic settings of Hollow World and Mystara and Greyhawk.

But the best use of the D20 system (in my humble opinion) is in totally different games like Knights of the Old Republic.
The Star Wars universe is an excellent arena for classic role-playing. Its a shame they only made two RPG's for it and the 2nd one was broken.

I haven't played Old Republic. I've played quite a few games based of SW, but not that one.

And I agree about the NWN games. It's time to take it elsewhere. I think what keeps people going back to TSC is that it is a collection of city-states rather than an empire, republic, democracy, theocracy, etc.

However, I don't see anything preventing 3rd party module developers from going to Ravenloft or Greyhawk.

One group I played with back in the early days of NWN made a module based on Firefly and the movie Serenity.

The Bioware team made a modular, programmable game world. It's only limitation is the people taking the baton.

There is one last issue I have with NWN2, it's a holdover from NWN. It has the most retarded AI I've over seen. Bioware really needs to hire some good AI programmers, because what they are accomplishing w/o can be totally disregarded.

I'd like an Oblivion-like Titan Quest. :D

I'd like the devs at Iron Lore to make an RTS though--such talent, and they're former warcraft 3, AoE1&2 designers.

Freespace 3. I loved the first two games so much. More than X-Wing and TIE Fighter.

You should see Free Space Open, if you don't have it already. It's the old games with new campaigns and an updated game engine.

I think Freespace 3 with Newtonian physics could be lots of fun. (For those of you that don't know what I mean by Newtonian, think Babylon 5, where the Starfuries would be flying along, then the engines shut off and they rotate and fire, while continuing on their original heading, you know, like it happens in real space ;) ) I'm enjoying FSO, but I just can't get over the fact that I'm supposedly flying in space when my ship banks and climbs like an atmospheric fighter

I would love to see a new jedi knight game. I loved those, they were so fun. Maybe some sort of a new tetris game.

well raven is making the next wolf game...(thank god they aren't making the mp though).

Is it definitely in the works? I've heard rumblings of someone doing a Wolf sequel, but not much hard evidence. The Wolf series is one of my all time favorite games. Nazis, zombies, and 1940s era Europe, all with a gloomy atmosphere, and music, It doesn't get much better than that :)

"id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead didn't reveal much more info on the new Wolfenstein game that Raven Software is now working on but he did reveal that Threewave Software will also be involved in the development of the game, specifically on the multiplayer side."

-Crysis with multiplayer Co-op
-Supreme Commander with the ability to assign players to units such that they actually play the unit in a 3D environment (like they're the pilot of a plane, captain of a ship, etc).
-Civilization merged with Master of Orion 2. The first planet is just the beginning, now you have to conquer the galaxy
-Sim City where you can drive around like GTA.
-Another 2D version of: Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy (when it was good)
-A new flight sim like Falcon 5 or something
-A new Heavy Gear game

I've wanted a game like this for years. Recently, I've wanted to merge the concept with my terraforming sim concept. The first planet may be Earth like, but other worlds may not be Earth like. Terraforming will be necessary.

I don't think the game will ever be made though, it'd be an extremely LONG game, likely lasting for weeks possibly months. A realistic model of just the Milky Way would be a massive gaming environment. It'd also be an extremely complex game, further limiting its appeal.

In today's market of short attention spans and simplistic gameplay, I don't see this game being built.

Thanks for the link  A Wolfenstein movie too, sweet. I'm not really a fan of movies, but I'll have to get that one. I hope they use the nude elites mod :p

A MMO-style (not necessarily RPG) post zombie apocalyptic survival game. Basically they have to survive and make it though while not starving/losing morale/getting eaten/etc. With a item creation system to make 'home-made tools and items' that can eventually be used to take back the world. If anyone has read world war Z, think that.

A remake of Planescape Torment with better graphics, and redoing the last quarter of the game (they threw out a bunch of stuff they planned to do to make it in time for Christmas.)

A FPS with:
Deus Exs Inventory system
Metal Gear Solid's ability to "hold people at gun point" and stuff bodies in lockers/throw them off ships
Ability to upgrade stats like System Shock/Planescape (didn't really like the implementation in Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, unfortunately)
Weapon repairing IF the weapon gets hit by a bunch of blows by an enemy or getting his by a shotgun blast (weapon degradation in System Shock 2 was stupid; it happened just because)
Decent amount of role-playing interaction like Fallout/Planescape
Destructible environments
Able to own/buy houses, businessess, vehicles.... so there's more to do than just kill stuff
GTA: San Andreas similar system to increasing/decreasing muscle
Ability to customize character/vehicle appearance (again, like with San Andreas), including custom forging your own weapons and armor
Upgradeable/moddable vehicles

I'd like a Half-Life game already. All these bullshit delays to pot to console are pissing me off.

Also, continuations for Chrono Cross and Vagrant Story. Though nowadays I'd like to see more cinematics. CC really needed an ending CG.

I'd like to see a new Shenmue. I played through the first and second and the second just leaves you hanging with the story(like the first does). It's been around 4-5 years since the release of the second and its safe to say we may never see the game get finished. It's just kinda sad IMO since it was a decent game with story.

Played it. Spititual is the operative word here. For those of us that actually like the Baldurs Gate game style, the only thing to do is download some homemade mods with new dungeons and such.

SORRY FOR THE BUMP!

Just wanted to tell everyone how much fun Baldurs Gate Tutu is.
You need both BG1 and BG2 to use it, but they can be aquired easily with the Forgotten Realms Collectors Pack. You just install the Tutu program wherever you like, and it copies the engine over from number 2 and puts in the data for number 1. Now you can use all the enhanced features like placing notes on the map, the super high levels and high level abilities, more and better classes and kits, and (most importantly) the increased resolution.

First game was limited to 640x480, which looked rotten when it came out and is horrid by todays standards. Now you can take it all the way to 2048x1536. I can do it on my 22 inch CRT, but 1024x768 seems to work a little better.

Also, I really just wanted to bump this thread because its so darn important.
Seems like we are all agreed, we need a 1st person shooter with some depth perhaps even an RPG, several new space games (not the least of which is a jet sim) and more varied RTS's along with a new Star Wars RPG of some sort.

Shall we harass the game companies now or just sit around and mull?

I got another game I'd like to see. A good tactical squad based game ala Fallout tactics but set in the Warhammer 40k universes. It should have a deep story line, be gritty and dark, have the ability to customize and level up squad mates, tons of weapons and vehicles to choose from, smart ai, and ability to go turn based if you want too.

- A true sequel to Quake1 (Same gothic universe, same gameplay)
- A true sequel to Doom2 (Non-Survivor horror)
- Stonekeep 2 (Or more games in the old explorer/adventurer RPG genre that no longer exists)
- Dungeon Keeper 3
- A roguelike like Nethack that manages to incorporate Co-op play somehow
- A quake style MMOFPS, where combat is all FPS but the world contains thousands of players. Not like planetside or other hybrid-FPS games either.
- A game that combines FPS gameplay with spaceship combat. So that you can fly to other planets and then land and get out. That would be pretty awesome.
- A combat version of the Sims. (Sims + Spy vs Spy + Silent Storm)
- 30 new games similar to Jagged Alliance

A true single player sequel to the original Unreal(same atmosphere and fast paced combat)

A sequel to Deus Ex(more like the original)

A sequel to Freespace 2

A sequel to Descent 3

A sequel to Red Alert 2

More fast paced FPS games, I'm tired of tactical shooters.

An FPS with entire destructible environments

A futuristic racing game with weapons like Wipeout

I can think of a few games, however KOTOR online would be cool and a updated remake of "Syndicate" that game was a classic in its time,I could say Planescape Torment 2 as well.
