He pulled a gold club from his car to threaten you? You are obviously not in Texas, here he would have been shot on the spot.

I wouldn't have pulled over. People are crazy, and you never know what someone like that might do. I would have driven to the nearest police station, parked the car right in front of the building, and then got out of the car to ask him why he was following me.

There had been 2 cases of road rage homicide in the past 2 months where I live. 1st one involved a man getting executed on the shoulder of highway w/ 2 children in the back seat. 2nd one involved a man and his 2 teenage sons murdered on local streets after an argument about who had right of way at a 4 way stop intersection. I wouldn't stop my car if some guy went loco, police station is the only way to get crazy people off your back.

I cannot begin to understand why someone would pull over with children or family members in the car. People and their egos

Hell, I have a CCW and almost always carry and I wouldn't have pulled over if I was alone let alone traveling with my wife/kids. We would have took a ride to the police station to get rid of the asshole and then been on our way.

I have no problem killing someone if I am forced to but my main goal is to completely avoid a situation in which I would be forced to do so.

And why in the hell would you just sit there in your car while some pissed off asshole is approaching it/you with a golf club?? Even if I had stopped I would have drove the hell off long before drawing my weapon was necessary.

not to mention shooting a guy armed only with a golf club when you could have just drove away would more than likely land your ass in jail.

I'd have taken a picture of him with the golf club and called the police.

I would have gotten out of my truck and stuck his club up his ass.

I wouldn't have pulled over. I would have just gone to my house. If he followed me there, I'd just ask him to leave. No sense in pulling over, as it just aggrivates the behavior.

I'd keep driving...no reason to stop.

If I was followed to my destination and he got out with the golf club, I'd either leave or, depending on circumstances, ID myself as a LEO and see how rapidly he decided to depart. If I was going home, I may do something else, as I'd just as soon him not know where I live.

I say wait till you are doing about 15-20mph while he is tailgating you and just slam on your breaks. Just tell the cops you saw a squirrel run acrossed the road so you hit the breaks. He will get the ticket and insurance hits. Only way to teach some people :)

my dad did that one time in his toyota truck. some punk kids were pissed that he passed them on the freeway and started tailgating him. when he ignored that they came up next to him and swerved into him a few times. im surprised at his restraint at this point, since hes a biker that carries a 45 and a ccw. hell, he pulled it on his neighbor over a stupid noise argument one time, and he liked that guy. these kids didnt stop, got back behind him and started the tailgate thing again, to which he slammed the brakes (not the breaks) on. they rear ended him and totaled both vehicles. the kids tried to tell the cops he did it on purpose, but my dad told the cops that he was so preoccupied with their threats and aggressive actions that he didnt realize traffic was slowing faster than he thought. there were a few witnesses to the kids stupidity so he won. got a new truck out of it too lol. i dont condone it, but damn ive always wanted to do that.

Many states it doesn't matter why the driver in front of you stops, it's all on you to make sure you are following at such a safe distance that even if they do like your dad and slam the brakes on then you should still be able to stop.

I have always wanted to do that too but normally someone is in the car with me and I don't want anyone else to get hurt.

I would not of stopped, I would of drove around until he got bored. If he was driving dangerously, I would of drove to the police station. However, one time I passed a guy and I guess he was upset, he followed me home at a distance where I did not really notice he was 'following me'. He pulled into my driveway and got out of the car with a small bat yelling. I drew down on him with my pistol. That solved the problem as I asked him to please get in his car and leave my property.

He did call the police afterward and they stopped by. I explained the situation, they left and I never heard a thing again.

I've often thought about what I would of done had he not left. A very odd situation. I think he was posturing and not trying to hurt me, so shooting him was morally wrong, even if legally right. I'm glad he left.

LOL a guy that followed you home called the cops on you after you pulled a gun on him ON YOUR OWN PROPERTY? Some people are just retarded. In fact, it's an insult to retarded people to call that guy retarded.

Try again. Lethal force is authorized in this situation if he is advancing, same as if he came with a knife.

I never would have stopped. There's way too many other things in my life to worry about than dealing with some prick on the road.

Why the hell did you stop?

I would have floored it when I saw him going to his trunk.

If you saw him getting a golf club, you could have thrown it in reverse and smashed his car up.
It's called offensive driving.
Then, tell the cops he rear ended you.

I used to feel that way, but they keep getting worse and worse. Now it seems as more than 50% of the people out there are idiots that don't know how to drive a car.

If it was me I would have got out of the car and tell the guy what a jackass he is. If he wanted to swing, I would have waited for the right moment and taken him to the ground. If I got hit with the club it would have more than likely broke unless conked on the head. Either way once my adrenalines going I don't feel that much pain, until a few hours later.

crap my ass. People need to learn they aren't in control or get away with everything, , otherwise the U.S. will continue to go down hill. The police would have done nothing but a slap on the wrist.

It's like all the idiots that know the lane is ending but wait until the last 50ft, I will sacrifice my car/truck to teach your dumbass a lesson. And I will let you know what the law is on it as well, seems how it is illegal yet the cops don't do anything. I'm not going to sit down and watch it happen day after day.

I believe some states still require you to flee if you can reasonably do so. You being inside of a car and the attacker being on foot with a golf club.... its pretty darn reasonable that you would be safer driving off rather then confronting him with a weapon. I sure as hell wouldn't want to go in front of a jury with that one.

Not to mention the legal cost, loss of time, loss of my gun (at least temporarily) etc... The alternative is absurdly better.

LMAO...

Golf Club = Assult

I would of taken a picture of him approaching me with a club with my phone camera.

Then i would of gotten his plate.

Then i would flag down another car seeing him approach me with a club.

Then i would sue him and pile him under so much lawyer papers, hes gonna have to forclose his house and run away from the country.

Ahhhh, welcome to LA. The land of PI lawyers. :D

Luckily, my state does not require me to flee AND they give lifetime CCW permits. I think they should use that as an anti-crime advertisement. If more people realized how easy it was to carry in this state they might be less inclined to start shit.

Trying to lose him could endanger yourself, or others. I personally don't endorse it. I agree with pulling over, hoping that he would just drive on. The only thing I would add is that I would have dialed 911 to get help on the way. At the point that he went to his trunk I would have most likely drawn my sidearm and taken a defensive position. If he advanced, I'd drop him. If he stayed put, dropped the weapon, or left, I would have just waited for police - making sure to have his description, license plate, etc.

You know, I always feel a bit nervous when some guy literally just keeps coming up and up further and it gets to the point where I can't even see his headlights in my rear view mirror... what the hell are they thinking?

You really would fire in this situation? A little road rage, you pull over to the side of the road and when he exits the vehicle and walks to the rear you get out of your car and pull your gun instead of driving away? What do they teach you in CCDW classes these days?
