My parents would have called the police instantly. My brother's pulled scissors on my dad, and beaten me before, and pulled knives on me too. He put a hole 3 feet tall in my door; my mom had to put titanium over them so he couldn't do it again.
This isn't the first time this has happened; it just hasn't happened in quite a few years. The police know my brother--even one police officer, who came over so often that she'd ask about my cat that never comes around. She knows about my fucking CAT. I had a boyfriend for a year before he found out about my first cat! (I have two, one that's indoors and one that's outdoors).
No...not sarcasm. He really is a genius. Testing confirmed and everything. He never applies himself though, he'd rather just get drunk and high.

My sister once attempted to kill herself (cry for attention) by taking a bunch of ibuprofen. Then when my parents came to help her move out and into their place she was curteous enough to bring home a random guy from the bar the night before and leave a bunch of used condoms laying around for my parents to see as they moved her bed.
She is ALL class.
My brother tried cutting himself in front of me with a butchers knife the night before we were to go on a plane trip to Hawaii for Christmas. Oh 2001...I thought we were over you.

Your brother is a guest in your parents' home. If he's in school, or working and saving to move out on his own, or in any way making something of himself he can have at least some form of minimal expectation that his parents' would let him stay at home (though by no means a guarantee). From the sounds of it, he's doing absolutely nothing with himself. He needs to understand that he's a loser and is lucky as all hell that your parents even let him continue to stay at home. And that means he needs to follow the rules to the fucking letter. He also should be putting in a shit ton of effort around the house to chip in in at least some way. It sounds to me like he has some idiotic and misplaced sense of entitlement. My parents were kind enough to let me live at home for a good while, and as a result I tried my best to be respectful of their rules and not abuse their kindness.
If I had a little brother like yours I'd kick his ass good or physically remove him from the house. Unfortunately you can't do that, so I think informing the owners of the house of the threat of damage to their property was the right choice. To the jackass trying to invoke the concept of tattling, would you say the same if this was a non-relative house guest? I'm betting not. Being related only lets you get away with so much, and then your disrespect needs to be dealt with. A tenant wasn't following the rules set forth for him and the landlords were informed by someone with a vested interest in the property. That's what happened and was a perfectly reasonible response
Also, I vote for the gluing his penis to his stomach while he sleeps idea ... be sure to use Superglu

How old are you? Why don't you just move out and let your parents know that you moved out because of him. You will be much happier.
