You're the one who sounds like a child here.

Having a boyfriend get involved in a family squabble is a huge mess waiting to happen. You just don't know how the parents will react to having an outsider come into their house and kick their sons ass however much he may deserve it.

When I told my dad about that this morning, he said he wished he had.

MYOB. I always figured people lost the tattle tale tendency once they were out of grade school. Guess I was wrong. If your parents catch him doing something wrong all on their own so be it. But stay the hell out of it.

What?
How is this not her business?

His interactions with parents and their rules is none of her business. So what if he has people over. Is she some enforcer or something? Never understood this "Ima gonna tell on you" mentality.

What about the fact that he had a bunch of loud, rowdy friends over and she couldn't sleep? Is her own sleep also not her business? And again, what about the threat of bodily harm?

He spit and "almost punched" No physical harm found. Plus she started with the disclaimer that she was all "hormonal". I'm siding with the brother on this one.

Spitting in someone's face is pretty bad too. A lot worse than what she did. You're a misogynistic prick, DIAF.

The guy is 21 years old, free loads and is ruining a house doing something he's not supposed to do--maybe if he paid my parents rent so they don't lose their house, then I wouldn't have said anything. But as far as I'm concerned, if he wants the privilege of having people over, he should take some responsibility and a) get a job b) pay my parents rent and c) stop acting like such an asshole.

The worst part is that my brother is damn near genius; if he knew I would be staying on Sunday, he wouldn't have had the party. He's a cunning little prick and he knows it too.

Spitting causes no physical harm?

Go to your nearest police station and spit in the face of the officer at the front desk, then get back to me...

Called your parents, after leaving and staying somewhere else. As long as he's allowed to live in that house, the cops can't do anything without their consent. But your parents can remove that consent - but its up to them to do so.

My parents would have called the police instantly. My brother's pulled scissors on my dad, and beaten me before, and pulled knives on me too. He put a hole 3 feet tall in my door; my mom had to put titanium over them so he couldn't do it again.

This isn't the first time this has happened; it just hasn't happened in quite a few years. The police know my brother--even one police officer, who came over so often that she'd ask about my cat that never comes around. She knows about my fucking CAT. I had a boyfriend for a year before he found out about my first cat! (I have two, one that's indoors and one that's outdoors).

No...not sarcasm. He really is a genius. Testing confirmed and everything. He never applies himself though, he'd rather just get drunk and high.

My sister is like that and she's 25.

Parents have kicked her out many times and keep letting her come back to live with them.

October 1st is the next "kick out date" but I'm sure she'll just go live with loser friends or shack up with some guy off the internet in exchange for sex. 6-8 weeks later when no one will put up with her stupid, free loading ass she'll come crawling back to mom and dad and they'll let her move right back in.

this, except my brother is a hypochondriac and won't have sex with random people. The only reason I'm not freaking out right now is because of that.

But he's a fucking free loader. I'm pretty sure this was it, though. Spitting in your sister's face? Was he trying to set a record of how low he could go?

My sister once attempted to kill herself (cry for attention) by taking a bunch of ibuprofen. Then when my parents came to help her move out and into their place she was curteous enough to bring home a random guy from the bar the night before and leave a bunch of used condoms laying around for my parents to see as they moved her bed.

She is ALL class.

Actually no, they decided not to splurge for the electrified depleted uranium door shield.

My brother tried cutting himself in front of me with a butchers knife the night before we were to go on a plane trip to Hawaii for Christmas. Oh 2001...I thought we were over you.

Assuming all that is true, why isn't he in jail/juvie or at least kicked out of the house? Your parents are enablers.

Your brother is a guest in your parents' home. If he's in school, or working and saving to move out on his own, or in any way making something of himself he can have at least some form of minimal expectation that his parents' would let him stay at home (though by no means a guarantee). From the sounds of it, he's doing absolutely nothing with himself. He needs to understand that he's a loser and is lucky as all hell that your parents even let him continue to stay at home. And that means he needs to follow the rules to the fucking letter. He also should be putting in a shit ton of effort around the house to chip in in at least some way. It sounds to me like he has some idiotic and misplaced sense of entitlement. My parents were kind enough to let me live at home for a good while, and as a result I tried my best to be respectful of their rules and not abuse their kindness.

If I had a little brother like yours I'd kick his ass good or physically remove him from the house. Unfortunately you can't do that, so I think informing the owners of the house of the threat of damage to their property was the right choice. To the jackass trying to invoke the concept of tattling, would you say the same if this was a non-relative house guest? I'm betting not. Being related only lets you get away with so much, and then your disrespect needs to be dealt with. A tenant wasn't following the rules set forth for him and the landlords were informed by someone with a vested interest in the property. That's what happened and was a perfectly reasonible response

Also, I vote for the gluing his penis to his stomach while he sleeps idea ... be sure to use Superglu

Woah, nerdress has become a regular poster?! Looks like her cousin did her a favor...

Anyhow nerdress, I'd say you should have slapped your brother for spitting on you, but that might just cause him to hit you back. You could have spit back on him, I doubt his friends would have really let him do anything to you if they're at all men.

But really, it's an issue that you need to talk over with your parents and get them to deal with. Tell them to set a deadline and kick him out.

The last time I tried hitting him, he beat me until I couldn't stand anymore.

Foster care almost took me away when I was in high school :\

And your parents did what? He should be in juvie at least.

How old are you? Why don't you just move out and let your parents know that you moved out because of him. You will be much happier.

you beat his ass until he begs for forgiveness then spit in his face and rub his face in the carpet.
