Of all things PC, what makes you most irritated? Mine would be the trend that businesses aren't allowed to offend anyone - ie the taco bell dog.

I'm sure there are ones i hate more, but that one came off the top of my mind.

Which do you despise?

Since I am in school, I can say the laws are well placed and they do prevent alot of wrong-doings in the school building but that doesn't really help that the people around you have could have violent intensions and it could possibly lead to your own downfall. I would say the most politically correct trend I hate would be the lack of free speech I am offered. I do speeches often and I hate how my teacher pulls me out of the room every time I give a speech. I talk about the most uncomfortable things that no one likes to talk about. I sometimes talk about how slavery benefited the United States, Philosophical reasoning on how society as a whole is gang of thugs who rely on the power of the mob to settle the most pressing issues, and how peace and an empty consciousness can make life a hundred (100) times easier because your brain is in an empty space (like darkness all around) that will pull any information within your brain that you think of (since your most pressing worries are settled and nothing is at all on your mind). I am only in high school and I feel like I am in a wasteland of bad opportunity.

School is runned by Totalitarian figureheads; no free speech and censorship is required :(

Having to tip-toe around the subject of the relationship between Islam and Terrorism. I said this during Senior Seminar once, and even though there were no Muslims in the class, I still got a few gasps simply for saying that most major terrorist organizations are based on Islam. It happens to be a fact.

But yeah I hate all of it. The only problem is that not everyone thinks that way, so I still have to watch what I say to prevent people from misinterpreting me.

What so many people deride as PC, most others just consider good taste and manners.

Note I said "so many" not "all".

There are many incidents of PC going way over the top into sillinesss,...but,
...so many people deride "having to be PC" when really they just hate being called on their latent racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.

I use the words that come to mind when the time comes to say them. If I see a black person, I, like shown, immediately thought of him as black, and not African American. It's almost racist in itself to use a "less offensive" word to not offend them.

Yes b/c its just good manners:

-to be forced to call all cops 'officers' instead of policemen b/c the female cops may be offended

-to call blacks african-american. Their great great great grandpa earned them the right to keep the 'african' part.

-to never comment on anything that could be gender specific at work b/c its not politically correct and could be harassment as a result

-to call illegal aliens 'undocumented workers' b/c the term alien conotates a feeling of being from outer space, and will hurt their poor illegal self esteem

i can go on if you'd like.... those are the kinds of things that bug most

Aldous Huxley's "doublespeak," in Brave New World is what we are confronted with. I despise this trend in every way possible.

No one is putting a gun to your head but the fact is, some people dont like to be refered to by their skin color. I suppose you can also go around calling Asians yellows, Indians Browns and Native Americans Reds all you want but that doesnt mean people wont be offended. Since when did making a small gesture to not offend a group become such a hated thing?

It's not that big of an effort and for the most part it's reserved to more formal situations. No one is making you spell woman "womyn" or anything like that. I guess you would want us to go back to calling african-americans negros, since afterall, that's just another term for black and it's only the PC liberal-nazis that made it bad

If we're trying to be politically correct here, why even mention race? The only difference between us and them (them being the ones living in the same country as us) is their skin color.

So, the only different between me and a black guy born in Canada is that he's black and I'm white.

B/c in general, its not the blacks that are whining about it... it's the white people trying to spread love and joy joy feelings over the world that are making it the norm. I grew up near Oakland and not one of my black friends wanted to be called African-American, it was all the whites that were afraid of being called a racist that were pushing for it.

haha, good point, but then... why not go one step further. Why not just say that person? Regardless of race, sex, height, etc...

Let's not turn this into race specific political correctness... there are hundreds of examples not tied to race!!!

Because I think black, and immediately I notice that he's black, just like I might notice what color shirt he's wearing.

I'll say "That black guy over there in the red shirt", rather than "That African-American over there in the colored shirt", or "That colored man over there in the colored shirt".

I'm not racist, I know I'm not racist, so I see no reason to change my wording.
