That was about $20 in wings, 5#. Considering I'm feeding my family of 5 plus another 4 that's not too bad.
French cuisine was on the menu tonight. This is a simple dish call Coq Au Vin. It's the perfect compliment to a cool Autumn night.
Fresh veggies from the garden. Everything was grown by us or one of our friends and we traded produce.

Thanks! I'm not a huge fan of French food but this turned out delicious. I think she just used Julia's recipe but put her own spin on it. For the lardoons she bought some pork belly from the local butcher and cut it into strips and added it to the dish.Looks amazing. Coq au vin is a classic. I made it once, I think pretty much I used Julia Child's recipe or something as traditional as that. I just didn't get lardons so used bacon, but I really want to make it again with lardons. Do you use bacon or something else?
round roast can be a very lean cut. I would use the crock pot and let it cook all day. The house will smell great!I cut loose the purse-strings and snagged a 3 lb round-roast "beast" (lol) for my personal Christmas feast.
I was going to go for a slightly larger Black Angus roast and really treat myself BUT the "premium" version was EIGHTY FIVE FREAKING DOLLARS !!!!! ($23.64 for the "standard" beef I went with)
Now I'm debating how to prepare it oven or slow-cooker.
