That was about $20 in wings, 5#. Considering I'm feeding my family of 5 plus another 4 that's not too bad.

Got some flap meat from Costco and I'm using it to make some asada street tacos.

Made some esquitas to go with the tacos. Didn't have fresh corn so I used frozen. Not the best, a bit gummy, but flavor is acceptable.

You guys cook some good eats! We could have a ridiculous potluck

Today made a chicken braised in white wine. Used shiitake, oyster and baby Bella's, shallots, onions, garlic, carrots, fresh herbs and par boiled potatoes and the sauce finished with butter.

Mise en place and my first bowl

French cuisine was on the menu tonight. This is a simple dish call Coq Au Vin. It's the perfect compliment to a cool Autumn night.

Fresh veggies from the garden. Everything was grown by us or one of our friends and we traded produce.

What's French stew with out some homemade Sour Dough to dip it in?

Looks amazing. Coq au vin is a classic. I made it once, I think pretty much I used Julia Child's recipe or something as traditional as that. I just didn't get lardons so used bacon, but I really want to make it again with lardons. Do you use bacon or something else?

I made some baked beans from scratch in my IP. Fantastic!

Broiled up some pork chops seasoned with Chinese 5 spice. Delicious!

Thanks! I'm not a huge fan of French food but this turned out delicious. I think she just used Julia's recipe but put her own spin on it. For the lardoons she bought some pork belly from the local butcher and cut it into strips and added it to the dish.

I cut loose the purse-strings and snagged a 3 lb round-roast "beast" (lol) for my personal Christmas feast.

I was going to go for a slightly larger Black Angus roast and really treat myself BUT the "premium" version was EIGHTY FIVE FREAKING DOLLARS !!!!! ($23.64 for the "standard" beef I went with)

Now I'm debating how to prepare it oven or slow-cooker. :)

I will make my once-a-week entirely DIY pizza tomorrow. I removed the dough for it from my freezer today (I make enough for 4 pizzas and freeze 3, every 4 weeks). The sauce I can starting with my home grown tomatoes. My toppings are a combo of around 15 items including 5 varieties of cheese, 4 meat items, several vegetable items. I have it down to a science. Been making pizza for decades.

I eat a salad with almost every evening meal.

Have the chicken thighs, stock, Israeli couscous and garlic already. Picked up the rest of the ingredients along with a six pack of Kona Blonde Ale - only 4.2% ABV but also only 99 calories a pop. I gotta slim down for Santa so hopefully he touches my wee wee.

round roast can be a very lean cut. I would use the crock pot and let it cook all day. The house will smell great!

Went with the slow-cooker and a "spicy barbacoa" recipe I found online.

It came out fantastic.... melt in your mouth tender! I also added as many mini-red potatoes as I could fit in the crock pot and they were really good too!

Served on whole-wheat flour tortillas with refried beans, baby spinach and chipotle-pepper salsa.

:)

Marinated (three days) angus short ribs in a Korean bbq marinade. Grilled and served with steamed jasmine rice, miso soup and a myriad of side dishes.

I made some macaroni with meatballs and a ricotta pasta sauce.

Tastes great.
