Alright... I was first stationed in Beaufort (SC), did two Euro tours, then went back to Miramar (CA)and stayed their until the end of my term, also did an EastPac. Some good times I had ;)
Awesome. I've just never heard of a Marine thinking he didn't need a pistol. Blew my mind. Maybe that's why your username is "cr4zymofo." ;)
Dude, honestly, in today's military, except for very few individuals, close range combat is a thing of the past. If they didn't have to issue pistol to all the damn officers, that would save a lot of money. And you honestly think that an officer will ever get to use his pistol? If one ever does, you'll see it on CNN as news of the century. The last century, they did use it, but not this one my friend.
Why don't you go join them on the front lines and see if your armchair general chili attitude holds up chili. BAH!
You watched too much TVs, and too many movies.

EDIT: Notice those "few individual" words? They're there for a reason, asshat.

Are you guys serious? We use .50s as handguns? Boy, is the rest of the whiny, nail-chewing, scaredy-cat world gonna be mad now, LOL. I honestly find it hard to believe, but would be happy to see it is true. So how many rounds do these things hold anyway?

Ummm... The US Army is the .50 ACP round in their standard issue Desert Eagle handguns.

Now I've heard everthing...
rolleye.gif

There is no such thing as a .50 ACP. Desert Eagle is chambered in .50 AE, .44 Magnum and I think there may be pistols chambered in .357 Magnum as well but that's it. You don't know WTF you are talking about.

I believe that Magnum Research makes a baby Desert Eagle in .45 ACP, .40 S&W and 9mm but there is no such caliber as .50 ACP.

lol thanks for the laugh powerMac4ever

- but anyways, wouldn't you need a sidearm if the M16A2 or M-4 jammed, which i figure would happen alot in the desert.

LOL! Gun expert, huh? I am merely an avid shooter (and military member, as it happens), but I still know it is laughable to say the Army's standard-issue pistol is a $1,200 gun whose ammo costs many times more than standard 9mm NATO ammo.
PowerMac............ if you can't believe a military dude. who can you believe? :Q Cheers, Aquaman
I've been shooting for 30+ years. I consider myself a gun EXPERT of over 20 years experience. I THINK I would know just a little about this issue wouldn't you?
You would... but you are wrong. EDIT: You think you know a little about the issue, Google thinks you're talking out your anal orifice
Searched the web for "US Army" "Desert Eagle". Results 1 - 10 of about 993. Search took 0.52 seconds.
I guess you are wrong. Its there.
BUT...
Searched the web for "US Army" "Beretta". Results 1 - 10 of about 13,400. Search took 0.08 seconds.
Much more there.

ZV

used to be,and some people still prefer it,if they are allowed to carry a personal choice,
many choose a .45 such as a variant of the old "1911".

LOL you must be over 25 years old,LOL {as am I also} ;)

*Sigh* He was claiming, at the time, that the standard sidearm of the US Army is a Desert Eagle chambered in 50 ACP. In fact, there is no such thing as a Desert Eagle chambered in 50 ACP. Search for it with the addition of "50 ACP", and see what google comes up with.

Also, regarding your search for "US Army" + "Desert Eagle", you might want to check some of the sites that it returns, not just the numbers. No reputable site is going to state that the Desert Eagle is the standard sidearm of the US Army.

US Army actually uses desert eagles

Slap yourself. Hard.

The US Army may have a couple in inventory, but the Army as a whole does not use them.
Umm, the .50 cal desert eagle is standard issue for the US Army. The Italian army uses Beretta pistols.
You need a book thrown at you.

The weakest "PWNAGE" ever. Correcting others' spelling mistakes is a bigger "PWNAGE" than what I just read.
