Since when? We began receiving M9s in 1987. I have not heard anything about Desert Eagle pistols used by active units at all, save for maybe a few SF or Delta Force people. In fact, the logisitical dilemma involved with ammo and spare parts for that weapon would be a nightmare.Originally posted by: PowerMac4Ever
Yes, the Beretta M9 is the standard issue handgun of the Italian army. We're talking about the US ARMY here where the desert eagle reigns supreme!

If by a little while you mean the time it takes to detonate nuclear weapons in every major city in the US, then you are correctOriginally posted by: Don_Vito

3rd, I was a Sgt when I left, and I'm a winger, smarter than your average bear. And no, I didn't need a fcuking pistol, and no, no one else in my unit would have need one either. Why you ask, have a thing for men in uniform?Originally posted by: dtyn
Marine Expeditionary Unit. Thanks. What division did you serve in, what was your rank, and what was your MOS?Originally posted by: cr4zymofoUh... yeah... consider that I was a Marine, I think I do know a little or two about how things work. Except for those on embassy duty, no one should need a fcuking pistol. Do you even know what a MEU is comprised of? without googling?Originally posted by: dtynConsidering in the Marines everyone has to do tours in the MEU, and MEUs come up against resistence more than you would think, and the fact that Marines are the first to fight, I'd say much more than you think.Originally posted by: cr4zymofo They should give the officers airsoft pistols for decoration. How often it is in today's military that a soldier will ever get to use their side arm?
Alright... I was first stationed in Beaufort (SC), did two Euro tours, then went back to Miramar (CA)and stayed their until the end of my term, also did an EastPac. Some good times I hadOriginally posted by: dtyn

Dude, honestly, in today's military, except for very few individuals, close range combat is a thing of the past. If they didn't have to issue pistol to all the damn officers, that would save a lot of money. And you honestly think that an officer will ever get to use his pistol? If one ever does, you'll see it on CNN as news of the century. The last century, they did use it, but not this one my friend.Originally posted by: dtyn
Awesome. I've just never heard of a Marine thinking he didn't need a pistol. Blew my mind. Maybe that's why your username is "cr4zymofo."Originally posted by: cr4zymofoAlright...
